Ugly colors

I don't know if it's the bad quality of the photo, or if these really are fakes, but I would be surprised if this is the final color. These look horribly ugly. They seem like colors straight out from the 80's with that neon yellow, green and almost pinkish red....

The white and blue look alright, but the rest do scream "cheap".

I've loved the color palette Apple has used on their iPods/iPod Touch... I would hope they would use those same colors (adapted to the plastic material)...

But I guess we will see!

As for the naming... that's a real good question. iPhone Neon?

I really don't get the concept of having all those different colors. It creates an inventory nightmare. If you want different colors just get an inexpensive case and you can have any color you want and change it at any time.

this is awesome! i'll definitely skip this "phone"... if i want plastic **** i can buy any phone (for less)... what about something boring? like any haswell retina 13" rumors  specially release date ;) this will be really boring!

I could see something like this selling really well for teenagers and older customers. And, of course, other countries where 2 year contracts don't/can't exist.

iPhone 5S - $199 ($599 off contract)
iPhone 5 - $99 ($499 off contract)
iPhone - $0 ($299 off contract)

All I know is that these will sell like crazy. Smart move that was years too late. Selling the glass and stainless steel models at a discount was just nuts. These look awesome, and if you just MUST HAVE a fancy aluminum iPhone, there is the upgraded 5s. Something for everyone. Everybody wins.

i think most of these look ugly and cheap.

best idea of a plastic iPhone for consumers wouldve been this concept based on the original bondi blue imac, in varied colors;

much more apple like.

and some people are confused to think that them looking cheap is acceptable because its a 'cheap' iphone.

we all know that its not going to be cheap. its not going to be a cheap iPhone, its just going to cost less. proof of this is Apple's iPad Mini. and this is actually good news. we dont want Apple to become sony. spreading itself too thin by selling products on a wide range of price and quality.

Apple should stay true - stick to selling premium products and experiences. the philosophy of a product in their ranges should be the category of the product and the use its designed for or market.

it should NEVER be designed for a 'cheaper price' or building a product around price.

examples that shine most in apples current products are macs and ipods. and recently, iPads.

iPad mini's philosophy is greater portability - an everything anywhere device beyond the small size experience of pocket based devices like phones or iPods.

Macs. we know the story of macs, pro and consumer. portability/power/ultra portable.

iPods: Storage / collection; classics. iOS: Touch's. Shuffle: Gym/Exercise/Work . etc..

apple Should bring the philosophy of different categories to iPhones, but it should not be about price. only product. some people might not be concerned with the latest and greatest technologies in an iPhone, they might simply just want the apple OS experience (iOS).

1 area of category is phone/screen size, like macs. some people want bigger and smaller phones.

I am thinking because this is a basic phone (and specs won't matter) I think this will just be called iPhone.

why couldn't they have simply taken that back cover, and placed it side by side with iphone 5's for size comparison?

i don't see any holes at the bottom for speaker/mic, though it could just by the angle.

Yikes!
See it's all a matter of taste, and that concept is pretty old fogey and ghastly. Those would have been laughed out of a Kmart.

Am I the only one that really wants one of these things??? The white one looks awesome.

You and me both! I can easily afford the 'premuim' iPhone (in fact, I am getting an unlocked 5s as a gift for my mom) but for myself I am so looking forward to this.

I love how people moan about plastic, yet they all put their iPhone in a plastic case!

I'd like to see a really nice looking red one. The one depicted here is a bit too bright. Plus I don't think I'd want a red plastic one.

Regardless, it's nice to see the possibility of a variety of colors becoming available.

I'm 100% with you on the brightness factor. I could see my way towards a dark red, navy blue, or hunter green. With that being said, I realize I am probably firmly in the minority with my color choices, but the super bright colors sort of scream more of "Hey, I'm 16!" than "Hey, I'm 35."

Instead of introducing a new cheapo POS, they should invest in a better flagship phone. A 4" iPhone 5S with 1 GB RAM won't be good enough.

Hmm...lack of FCC info is interesting. I thought late stage prototypes usually had the FCC info on the shell with a series of xxxxx where the actual IDs should be. The lack of this makes me skeptical of this leak and lead toward Chinese knockoffs.

Apple sells phones around the world. The FCC is only relevant in the US. That information probably goes on at a different stage of manufacturing and would not go on at all for test units.

This is what I was thinking...Plus no designed by apple verbiage.

Cheap iPhone will kill mid-range Android. And of course, they do not target US but us, non-contract country.

I don't think the "cheap" iPhone will cost under 300$. Probably same price than the iPad mini.

iPhone 5S/6 : 699$
iPhone 5 : 549$
iPhone Low cost : 329$

the "red" one here looks more like pink to me :/

Earlier photos looked like they had the 30 pin connector ... I see they fixed that. I guess the next "leaked" photos will have the speaker holes
