Not sure about this year, but in 2010 and beyond, in order to stay competitive, Apple may need two refreshes per year instead of one.

i hope so! i'm sure blackberry and palm are very hard on that now while iphone sales keeps on skyrocketing. maybe it's the blackberries and palms that will need two refreshes a year...

Apple could come out with something similar of course like the rumored handheld or the touchscreen tablet.

You would have to be amazingly stupid to come out with a premium product after a launch. All your best customers already bought a product. If anything, you introduce a lower end product to pick up the fence sitters and those who wouldn't consider the Pro.

The 3GS is it until next summer.

Haha that was the funniest thing I've read all day.
Great job!

But anyways,
This thread is stupid. There is no way they would want to upset the large portion of the public that rushed to buy the 3gs by doing something like that.

Go back and watch the iPhone introduction keynote.

There it was - literally, Steve's happiest moment. Doing what he loves to do. With a great device, leaps and bounds ahead of the competition at the time. Audible gasps were coming out from the crowd. Everyone hanging from his. Every. Word. The audience applauding every couple minutes. He was truly, profoundly happy.

He's lived his dream man. He's already done it. If only we could be so lucky.

He's not gonna reveal hover boards or time travel. No holograms. There's not gonna be another sock-knocking product like the iPhone for a while. Better iPhones every year, yes. Life-changing devices every year, no. And certainly not from Steve, considering he's got another year or two left in the game. Tops.

If Steve had a failing, it's that he's too convincing. Kids believe in magic now.

Do you realize how epicly pissed everyone who gets one on June 19th will be? They'd demand a new iPhone less than 6 months into a contract.

A new device will be released every year. That's it. The 3GS is a very solid upgrade. Deal with it.

Before WWDC, some people speculated that the iPhone wouldn't be introduced until Steve returns to work, seeing that it's his baby. I didn't buy that because it seems like they're trying to get the focus off Steve, not tie Apple products to him even further.

The iMac used to be Steve's favorite thing. The iPhone replaced that for a while. It'll be something else in the future, so don't expect it to last.

not a chance in hell.

can you imagine the uproar? people lock themselves into 18-24 month contracts with the 3gs and then they bring out an even better phone.

ridiculous suggestion.

Isnt that what happened with the 3G???
Everyone locked into 18-24 month contract and now everyone wants an upgrade to the 3Gs..

Sorta the same thing.

I'd quite like a iPhone HD
