Hardmac.com images look nice to me.

If I could get something that looked like the "new iPhone" pics from hardmac.com, I would be a very happy camper.

after reading half the posts in this thread I have really lost faith in the forum/thread system. Nobody here has read any other posts!

Some people still think these photos are legit....

With all due respect you are included in that as well. You posted the same observations that people had been commenting on for three pages.

Yep. The lower hole is the ear speaker, and I'm guessing the one above is for the front facing video camera.

[edit: I'm talking about the slots on the top of the front face. I think you were talking about something else.]

Err.

I think they moved the speaker to the front as they should of a long time ago.
Having both the speaker and the mic so close to each other cause feedback problems. It doesn't happen all the time but it's best if it doesn't happen at all.

I'm happy they moved it up there.

But headphone jack on the bottom? Kinda weird.

not at all - i've been hoping they'd do this for ages
if you're walking along with your hands in your pockets, you need the phone to be upside down so that the volume controls are near your thumb and fingers - and that wastes a lot of headphone cord travelling the length of your pocket.

with the jack at the bottom though, volume controls are still easy to access, but much more of the headphone wire is outside of the pocket and so much more comfortable when you're looking left/right to cross the road, etc

Where do the speaker or microphone go? If you put a jack down there, one of the two have to go somewhere else. Where?

Fake

Has anyone posted that this photo might be fake? ;)

Just checking.

Yes, It's fake just like the 5 USB port Mini was. I read here at MR that Apple would never make a product like that. So I'm sure that the "experts" here are all correct this time around as well....

Will some of you experts please tell us how your years of experience qualifies you to show how this is an "obvious" photoshop job???

I quit now (typing from my fake mini)

If it looked something like this I would be very happy, I think it's possible for them to fill out the screen to fit more of the available area, but perhaps not this time.

Also, am I the only one who does not want a "rubberized" back? Imagine all the pocket lint/dust/grease that would cling to that kind of finish, making it look aged very quickly. A non-rubbery matte finish would be ok, but personally the glossy black looks and feels fine to me, although the upcoming iPhone will (finally) be my first iPhone so I haven't used the glossy back in day to day use. What problem do people have with it exactly?

Ok, someone at Apple screwed up. Last week we saw the new iPhone hardware mistakenly in the 3G's casing. This week we see the 3G hardware mistakenly in the new iPhone's casing.

Let's just hope they didn't make the mistake 5 million times!

i hope this isn't the new hardware. please don't move the sleep button to the left from the right, i just got used to the change after selling my ipod touch and getting a 3g 9 months ago....

other than that it looks nice though. i like the dark, almost gunmetal, colour of the bezel and buttons rather than chrome.

Look at the camera shutter button of the front and then look at it on the back. Such a poor fake haha

An "Indicator" aka "Status Icon" ;)

No, because it wouldn't change to 'indicate' the status of anything. A status icon would be your carrier signal strength or wifi signal strength icons. Those, IMO, would be what you refer to as a status icon.

The small spotlight icon in screenies of 3.0 firmware would indeed be considered an icon. While perhaps not prevelant in the overall theme, it still represents something in it's use, just like all those little dots/add'l homescreen icons represent more apps.

On topic: I hope it's fake. The look of two holes on the screen like that looks odd and almost tacky. Didn't Steve go on and on about the look of the gooorgeous display? Now they're gonna jack it up?! Hope not...

also when updating some apps through app store on my iPhone it says "tested with iPhone OS 3.0":

That's because Apple told developers a couple of weeks ago that their apps had to work on 3.0 so they had to submit versions that did so.

I know, but never saw that message before - also, today that message is gone.

Are you serious?

Not enough support for a chin rest at the bottom or an ear rest at the top. Unless you want scratches [whiskers], sweat/grease from one's face, not to mention structural issues and where to hide more addons it's just not practical.

Dude. Are you serious? What are you talking about with a 'chin support' and an 'ear support'? In case you haven't noticed, the iPhone is all glass, all the way up to the edges bezzel. This mock up is no different, just a bigger screen and relocation of the earpiece. And as far a scratching the screen with your beard, I have yet to met a fellow man who has diamond tipped beard whiskers capable of scratching glass! :)

Nice mock up Mr.Damien! I'd have one!

Do you not realize that the entire face of the current phone is glass? What are you even talking about? This version would be no different from the current version when it comes to face grease, sweat, and scratches.

Hiding addons? What does that even mean? Since when is Apple hiding addons in the chin?
