In Safari, why does the bookmark list not close when I click on a bookmark?
Needs an extra click compared to iOS 7
Has anyone experienced a bug where you cannot swipe up into the camera or swipe the control centre upwards from the lock screen? It's happened to me a couple of times recently and it's annoying me like you wouldn't believe.
Restarting the phone fixes it.
I have noticed since updating both my iPhone 6 & iPad Mini 2 to iOS 8.1, very graphic intensive websites are causing numerous safari reloads, crashes and even device resprings - I had an online chat yesterday with an AppleCare rep and her supervisor & they were able to replicate the issue on numerous devices running iOS 8.1 - I was told that they spotted an issue in my diagnostics, likely in WebKit since I have multiple crash logs for that. They were bringing it to engineers immediately and profusely thanked me for bringing it to their attention instead of just "living with the problem" - I wish Apple would see this as a prime example of why an iOS public beta would be a huge step in the right direction. OSX Yosemite has been so smooth on my MacBook Pro & I really believe its because of the public beta catching bugs that would normally go unnoticed.
Anyone else seeing this Safari bug and having issues?
You can turn off dictation as well. Other than that, while dictation is active (or perhaps turn on Siri and then get it to come up) lower the volume then. This is annoying as if your phone is on silent its usually on silent for a reason. Accidentally knock the microphone key next to the space bar and you get an almighty loud bing bong sound coming from the phone. That should be silenced if the phone is on silent. Siri is turned off as I dont use it!
There seems to be a problem with Control Center on IOS8+ doing 'something' that interrupts WiFi for about 35 to 40 seconds at a time. The problem is most noticeable on iPhone 5/5S and iPad/iPad Mini, but still happens on the new iPhone 6/6 Plus devices.
Here's how to create the problem:
1. Run OOkla Speed Test to get a baseline performance level over WiFi.
2. Swipe up the Control Center, then slide it back down.
3. Run OOkla Speed Test again. Your results will be about half the speed, and you'll notice the speed needle is very jerky.
We noticed this because we are the developers of an app that does very low-latency audio over UDP networking. Normally, packets stream in to the phone at around 20ms intervals. When the Control Center is slid up then down, our app will receive packets in bursts every 400ms or so. This will continue for the next 35 to 40 seconds after the Control Center is slid back down.
On the iPhone 6/6 Plus, it appears the phone is capable of 'catching back up' on the SpeedTest, so you really don't notice the problem as much.
This is an absolute killer for low-latency audio applications such as VOIP.
Has anyone out there seen this? Can you re-create like we can?
