I couldn't figure out where the option to request the desktop version of a web page in Safari was because I never saw it when tapping the address bar. I deleted all the bookmarks in the Favorites folder and apparently doing so causes the overlay that shows that item to be nearly invisible. I added a favorite and now it shows up.

Ran into a problem I saw once before again today on my iPhone 5s running iOS 8.1. Basically what happens is DNS stops working over Wifi and Cellular. I can only access web pages by IP address in Safari and apps. For example a ping app I have can be IP addresses, but type a host name and invalid host is returned after a long period of time.

It does this on both wifi and cell. Toggling airplane mode or wifi doesn't help. Only restarting my phone fixes this.

Anyone else see this? It seems to happen if I don't restart my phone every 5 to 10 days. It's preceded by lots of dropped network traffic, which has the effect of the network appearing slower than usual.

In iBooks, when I try to dim the screen, a portion of it remains.

Yeah, without favorites/bookmarks it's still there but the screen doesn't dim enough behind it to make it clear--you can make it out usually, but not that well.

anyone find a fix for this? on 8.1 now on iphone 6 and have this issue
Does pausing and starting the video again get it working? What about using the on-screen volume controls (if they are available)?

Safari Hyperlinks dont work on fresh page

This occurs on all my iOS 8 devices (8.1) since iOS was first released.
Touching a link on a page in Safari does not work. The solution is to scroll the window just a little up and down and then the links work on that page.
:(
Also my screen is often in the wrong orientation and I have to rotate the device several times to get the orientation back to portrait. This started with first iOS 8 release and has not been fixed yet (even though 8.1 noted fixing something about screen rotation issue it did not fix this).
:(
While I'm mentioning issues, our HP Envy printer refuses to show up on our iOS devices on our network. We have to change the WiFi temporarily over to the printer device while printing and then switch back to the router when done printing. When this feature first came out, but not any more.
:(
First iCloud backup must run uninterrupted so if there is a network glitch or you take your phone out of the house. The backup fails. This requires going to a separate settings page and deleting the zero sized backup before it will perform backup. This is awful if there is 10GB or more of data to back up.
:(
I'm very disappointed with Apple's iOS 8 releases. Hopefully they can improve their software quality control process for future releases. Definitely losing my trust.
:(

Why that Craig Federighi isn't fired yet? Apple Maps on iOS6 was nothing compared to this bugfest iOS8. Did I mention 8.0.1? That fiasco was nightmare that shouldn't ever happen. Software quality control is unbeliveable nowadays.

iOS Quality

If anyone from Apple is reading, hopefully noted issues are addressed in 8.2. For future improvements in software quality, consider having separate groups perform quality checks (Is there a GUI development group in Apple yet separate from software?). Key is appropriate checks and balances.
:apple:
Also, programming results in too many bugs. Need to develop UI development at a higher level i.e. use state machines where the states are known and the conditions for transitioning between states is clear(er). The further away from C/C++ one can get, the higher the likelihood of developing a defect free interface.

Me and my girlfriend have a 6 and 6 plus on 8.1. When choosing to take new pic in the message app, it works fine the first time. If you attempt to take another in the same way we just get black screens. Like the shutter doesn't open. The camera flip switch doesn't switch cameras either. I'm glad I can add existing pics now after it not working and crashing every time on 8.0.2 but now this is happening.

Might want to look at similar types of threads for 7.0 and even some earlier iOS versions.

No such thing as defect-free, at least not in reality.

Keynote

Anyone see when the app was not responsive when Craig touched the screen several times during the Keynote? Does everyone really think they are just touching it wrong? Helloooo... it is called a bug. Did not exist in iOS7 and I really have a hard time thinking that this is added as an intended feature. I just want my phone and ipad to work as well as it did before the OS upgrade.

I've heard this as a common excuse for not improving quality. Look at how this worked out for GM. Instituting proper quality metrics and quality improvement systems does drive quality to zero defects. You can be sure that this is the expectation of Apple in its suppliers.

Nowhere was an excuse provided or mentioned. Simply reality was just brought into light.

Will not sync my playlists. Clean install of Yosemite, iTunes 12 and iOS 8.
Reset phone and despite cloud storage some apps did not download from cloud...some I can't find at all.
additionally I get the added pleasure of my girlfriend telling me "no one in their right mind downloads anything from Apple until at least two weeks after the release so they can clean up all their bugs"...not sure which is worse

Eveybody who downloads "update" from Apple must be crazy. After all other bugs, now my iPad five finger pinch is screwed up.

So much for It Just Works. But it cant get worse, we are already stuck at iOS8 with no way going back... Or can it? Are they planning to release 8.0.1 ver 2.

Mine does that when I use the 5-finger gesture to close any app.

On another note, Safari still freezes when I type the contraction for 'do not'. Not all the time but most. It also happens during other situations, usually when typing a contraction. Requires me to close the app and remove it from the multitasking bar.

They already released 8.1.

I still have to switch wifi on and off at least once a day to make it work on my iPad2 and my brand new Air2 !

Post iOS 8 bugs here ( updated )

I expect this one has been found does the same on my iPhone 5/S randomly ImageUploadedByTapatalk1414514758.813374.jpg

Is there a known bug in the Messages app where the app basically becomes non-responsive to touch? If you kill and re-open the app, everything works fine.

You know what 8.0.1 did to our phones? It made them ipod touches! Magical. So good luck to all guinea pigs brave enough to download 8.1.1 (or whatever) when its released
Yup, there was a screw up. Yup, it wasn't good. And, yup, in reality screw ups happen everywhere. Doesn't seem like anything is wrong with 8.1 as it already has been out for some time. When new updates come there will be people who get them right away and post about them, so others who might care about it can find out before they update, as they could for many updates before as well.

No idea if this has been posted here already, but here goes nothing:

Viewing YouTube videos in landscape and receiving texts at the same time makes the screen go back to portrait momentarily as the notification pops up. Can anyone replicate this?

New photo restoring bug!
Backed up iPhone to iCloud/computer, had to fix the annoying "other" data issues I've been having. While the "other" data is fixed but brings in another error to the phone instead.

After restoring all my photos back to my phone 1006 of photos which is only 1.8GB BUT iTunes shows 1006 of photos and with 3.6GB...has anyone seen this or know how to fix it?

I've tried setting up as new and restore from iCloud but same problem coming back.

Does this to me as well, while in other apps it shows the notification in landscape. Very, very annoying.

not sure if this was posted but I notice for the audio text messages, sometimes if you have one ( a random old one) it will randemly show up when you raise the phone to your ear.

kind of hard to explain

I love the raise to listen feature but i found this bug so annoying that I turned it off

Happened to me a few times. Confused the heck out of me. Played old one first.

Just happened to me.
