how come some people with the same setups have different scores? i just eked into the 10k bracket with the standard configuration 2.2

so what does this mean, apart from my MBP is better than a mac pro?

2011 15" 2.3 GHz 4GB RAM:
Higher one = 64-bit
Lower = 32-bit

google geekbench noob

You do know that it's not coo t call someone a noob? What does one accomplish by being rude? When you got your first MBP, did you NOT ask questions you didn't yourself know the answer to?

I should feel comfortable enough to ask questions, wen I have no clue of the answer without dealing with people like you. Thanks. :)

No clue what that means, but I figure'd I'd share.

Ran it 2x today after the latest update that *may* have addressed the lockup issue. Got a 10111 the first time, and a 10178 the second time. If the latest update tweaked the CPU or GPU, it's not being reflected in the 32 bit Geekbench score.

Sorry. You are correct. I did have questions too.

Since the upgrade my score increased by 20 lol

What does it all mean tho? Is this the geek equivalent of penis size or something?

Gives new meaning to the term "gigaflops"

Geekbench..wow pretty impressive

I know there's a million threads about this rolling around but I didn't think this was bad with playing iTunes in the background.

I got 93 less than you and I only have the stock configuration, although I did the test immediately after booting up, ie no apps in the background.

Are geekbench scores literally just to show off to people?

MacBook Pro 17" (early 2011): 10017

And just for fun:

Mac Pro ((original, 2006): 5510
iMac (early 2009): 3775
MacBook Pro 15" (early 2008): 3366

All base configurations, OSX 10.6.7, 32-bit (free) version of Geekbench

after updating the ram to 8GB (1600MHz) my new score is 10329! the 1600MHz increased it by nearly 300

i got the kingston brand FYI
