Running Linux on intel iMacs:
I suggest two temperature apps you might add:

smcFanControl
pSensor

I overheated the GPU running MX streaming a movie on my iMac 10,1

Psensor shows the temperatures - TGOD ..being the GPU.
smcFanControl allows you to adjust fan speed n when according to temp levels.

(Im repeating myself in here in the hope it helps some avoid the situation I found myself in - ie having to use keys P,R with Option n Apple key to get a successful boot up.)

Almalinux on my 2012 quad Mini. Just finished copying over 140 million files to a 4tb Linux-formatted T7 SSD to make it closely mirror the web server that I lease, which was quite an ordeal! Still trying to install Almalinux on a 2018 Mini but the 2012 feels so fast, it might be all I need.

Interesting that it shows 8 processors but, of course, the Mini only has 4. My understanding is that Linux sees this as 8 "logical cores" where 4 represent turbo boost. I guess that's also why it shows 3.6ghz when the real chip is actually 2.6ghz.

Here's my 10,1iMac running KDE Neon. I use it in the kitchen to watch the footie (soccer), stream video and Spotify.

Here's the 15,1iMac which I use for dev etc. It also runs KDE Neon. It does have Sequoia (with OCLP) installed on the internal SSD but this very rarely gets booted - I'm not a big fan of macOS. The eagle-eyed among you may notice that this configuration with a 4K screen was never sold so I assume the 5K screen was replaced with the wrong part at some point in its life. It's still a fine machine.

Was just looking at MacSales (OWC) the other day and they have used trashcans for as little as $199. That actually tempted me, but I really have no need. Just installed almalinux on a top-spec 2018 Mini and that is already serious over-kill for my own development server needs. :)

Nice trashcan! I'm jealous - I so want one although I have no practical need for it. Have you found a use for the second GPU under Linux?

Thank you! No, I have not found a use for the second GPU in linux. Honestly, the Mac is only running linux so it isn't mothballed. It is such a beautiful machine to be powered off in a closet somewhere. It has three purposes at the moment; to allow me continued exposure to linux (and its related software), run BOINC, and a file mirroring server. So, as you can see (and much like Boyd said about his mini), it is serious over-kill for my needs.

But again, it looks so amazing on my desk. I really wish the Studio was a shorter version of the 2013 Pro.
