Was in the Apple Store today and employee mentioned to me that Verizon has offered them 50% off data for the 4G iPads. So in others words:

$10 - 1GB
$15 - 2GB
$25 - 5GB
$40 - 10GB

Holy cow what a deal!

How do you get that deal? Was that just for apple employees? I just picked up the verizon model last night, and I am mad at myself for doing that. I thought I read before that verizon had the cheapest data for 3gb. Not so. Pretty upset with myself. Is it possible to buy a AT&T sim card for when they get lte here in Tulsa, and just use them instead to get the cheaper 3gb data?

Yea it's just for employees. And I don't know if it was like a region thing or if it was all across the stores. Someone else go to their store and slip that question in there lol.

You will get HSPA+, not LTE if you use an AT&T SIM. The Verizon one is a much better deal, as you can get 1GB for $20, and you can use it as a hotspot. In general though, still better to tether off of your phone's plan.

Verizon LTE is not great in my part of Austin. I;ve tested at home, near UT, on Lamar @ 6th, Zilker Park, east Ladybird Lake area. and south Austin. all low, about 5mps dl, and 0-1mps up. lost LTE 2 times and their 3G was like a dialup.
The telltale sign of Verizon coverage in central Austin is that there are no Verizon stores anywhere in the main metro/UT/downtown area. The closest store to me is a Mopac and 71, or out 183.
This ipad is getting returned for ATT one. THe clerk at the store just said the std things and that they only advertise 4G as 5-15mps. I couldnt find it on their webpages, then the clerk got a call and never acknowledged me again, I had been at the counter working with him for 10min. hmm.

All of you are lucky. My PC gets on average 3 mbps down and about 1 mbps up :(

Verizon "High-speed" internet :(

5 bars Verizon LTE in Clemson, SC

39.08 down
19.42 up

Leaps and bounds faster than my Internet here at my house

Fastest I got yesterday. Exchanged my WiFi for the LTE. Although my new LTE ipad will mostly be on WiFi so I won't go over the 5GB.

Haha, I can't believe how fast it is. At my office, I'm right next to an AT&T tower. That was taken at the 7-Eleven (same location). When I'm at home no LTE :(

I talked to a guy at the AT&T store in Altamonte Springs, FL and he showed me a result of 61Mbps on his Skyrocket. It's unbelievable how quick mobile broadband is now! I mean, I can't even subscribe to a Bright House package that quick!

4 bars of 4G in Texas. No LTE available in my town. 7.6d/1.54u

It's better than my AT&T home internet. :/

Everyone seems to be focused on testing LTE in the areas where they *live* and will presumably be on wifi most of the time. Isn't it more important that speeds be adequate in areas you travel to with your iPad? In that case, it looks like Verizon has the most consistent, broad LTE network right now.

AT&T seems to take years to roll out new service with many areas still Edge only.

12d/5u during peak evening hours in suburban Dallas. On Verizon. A bit disappointing when viewing this thread!

It's crazy. LTE is faster than my FIOS at home.

Speed test from this morning, near Redwood City, CA.

Verizon LTE 5 bars - (Sacramento, CA) - 42.00 Down & 21.29 Up

Definitely happy with those speeds.

Geez, where in Sacramento? At home in Carmichael and at work downtown the best I've gotten is 1.75 down & .64 up -- no kidding, less than 2 down. Traded in my AT&T model yesterday for this. AT&T is unforgivably terrible in Sacramento, but nothing like this. SO angry.

I got that particular speed at my work location (right around HWY 50 & Mather Field). At my home in Carmichael, the fastest I got was 26.28 Down & 11.17 Up. Your speeds do seem off. Maybe it's the time of day? A lot of congestion on the network? I traded my AT&T model for Verizon due to lack of LTE here. Overall, all I have been very happy with my trade.

Ok, I had heard Rancho was a good area for both AT&T and Verizon. Heck, I'd be satisfied with 15 down and 5 up, it would still be way faster than AT&T around here. My return date got pushed out with the exchange so I have another 2 weeks to decide if it's working for me. Thanks for the info.
