Mind you, I get crappy service at my house.

This is using my unlimited data sim.

7.58d/l .50u/l and 58 ping VZW LTE

3 bars on Verizon LTE
35Mbs down 2Mbs up.
This blows away my wifi speeds. Since, my iPad can be used as a hotspot, I may give serious thought to dropping the cable based Internet.

I live in North Dallas (Carrollton). Ordered both the Verizon and the AT&T one, not sure which one I am going to keep - plan on returning one.

But here are my results, and AT&T really suprised me:

AT&T LTE
51.99 Down 22.20 Up
47.56 Down 22.17 Up

Verizon LTE
14.16 Down 8.42 Up
11.83 Down 7.33 Up

And yes, both are in Mb/s. Can't believe how fast AT&T LTE is here in Dallas. AT&T LTE actually beats verizon FIOS speeds here (42.87 Down and 20.15 up). And yes, I checked both iPads to be sure wifi was off and that the tests were actually on the LTE networks.

I have Time Warner in L.A. as well but get 30/5. Which package/price gets you 51/5?

Also, did you get an LTE iPad? Which is the faster LTE carrier for Los Angeles?

Time Warner has a 50/5 service that is the next step to the 30/5. After 50/5 there is nothing else.....

Well there is Verizon Fios but that's never coming to LA.

----------

I pay $60/month for 20mbps, now I can see why people jail brake!

I pay 100 for 50/5. :(

Verizon. 30 miles south of Boston.

verizon. checked the website to make sure my home was in the let coverage. got home signed up for 1gb. before i signed up it only showed 3g and after LTE popped up.

2bars signal : 10Mb down 2Mb up.

Not to rain on anyone's parade, but what's the point of LTE if you don't have an unlimited plan? Faster? Yes, but that just makes you use up your data more quickly. Running dozens of speedtest for one. ;)

So it looks like its coming down to this: Verizon has more LTE coverage and AT&T has slightly faster LTE?

Verizon customers - isn't the drop off from LTE to EV-DO painful? Thank god for HSPA+.

AT&T LTE (Austin, TX)

Best I've ever seen. Then again, AT&T is very solid in Austin.

Portland, OR-- NO LTE here yet for AT&T

AT&T HSPA+ (fake 4G)
Ping 93
Down 6.27
Up 1.29

What's the point of unlimited plan when AT&T throttles it after 3GB...

That's smartphones only.

I'm amazed!!!

Edit: this is a screenshot from earlier today. I live JUST outside the LTE line around Baltimore but went to the mall and tested it out today. I was blown away as my "4G" at home gets about 7 down.

I'm sure this has been brought up a dozen times today, but I didn't want to make a new thread.

I bought the Verizon iPad today (my first "data" enabled iPad). I haven't added any data plans yet, as I don't need it at the moment. My question is, are the Verizon data plans monthly and therefore end once the date comes or will it automatically charge me for my next month? I'd prefer that if I choose the $20/1gb plan that it won't auto-renew after the month ends and I can freely renew the data whenever I choose.

What's up with your wifi. I would call Comcast and have them refresh your none ion.

Your pic shows you are connected to wifi.

The plan will auto-renew on any cellular enabled version of the iPad. To avoid the auto-renew after you sign up for your month of service go directly back into your account and cancel the plan. You still get your next 30 days that you paid for, but after 30 days you have to go back into the account and sign up again.
