Can someone tell me if they think something is wrong with my Macbook? I just bought a brand new MacBook pro 13 two days ago and my health already shows 98%.

CoconutBattery:
Charge: 100%
Capacity: 98%
Age: 2 Weeks
Cycles: 3

Doesn't 98% of health in just a couple days seems odd?

yeah, especially if you have only charged it 3 times...

download istat pro for dashboard and see if you get similar results.

IStats Pro says the same thing. 98% for the health and only 3 cycles.

It's absolutely fine, the battery health fluctuates, even in the first few charge cycles. Don't get so worried about it, the only time you should be worried is if you notice it being abnormally short in use rather than looking at coconut battery IMO.

is that normal?

Hi my 2011 MBP is at 6 weeks and has a health of 98%. Would calibrating restore this to 100%? It it has been a month since I last calibrated, and I just keep it plugged in all the time.

Here's mine, 2011 2.2 GHz 15"

I was pissed about that too on mine when it was saying 98% and 99% but then I just ran the battery down below 50%, put it to sleep, and fully charged and it went back to 100%

Interesting...I'll try that trick too...so you saying I should run it down to below 50% and then when charge not use it? The there is a chance it will get back?
Thanks!

Calibration doesn't restore battery health. It makes your reporting more accurate. It's a very bad idea to leave your battery plugged in all the time. Read the Battery FAQ in post #146.

That's referring to the amount of charge, not the battery health. If it doesn't charge to 100%, you don't have to drain it to 50%, only around 92%, then it will charge fully. Read the FAQ.

No, that post is talking about battery charge, not health. You don't "get back" health. Batteries deteriorate over time. Calibration makes the reading more accurately reflect the true health.

Seems OK after a year but not a huge battery user, just cycles from overnight sleeps, travel and calibration, am impressed with the battery life when required though.

One thing I have noticed, browsing / light work on low brightness whilst running the battery down tends to 'increase' the current capacity reading. Zapping the battery down whilst Youtubing or converting stuff, tends to decrease it. The difference being something up to 5%

if it won't restore health, then my battery is not very good i guess...just on 13 cycles it's at 96%....i see a lot 100% health for much older computers than mine.

Would you please direct me to FAQ page, i can not locate it....
