acklee, one thing for sure is you'll die a happy person. everything you eat looks so delicious. I'm literally salivating looking at all those delicious foods and worst thing is, I've had those at one point or another and the memories of how they dance on my tastebuds comes flooding back when I look at them.

I miss Japan :(

Though the last one doesn't look like any okonomiyaki I've seen in Kansai...asked my wife and she wasn't sure what it was but said it's not okonomiyaki...what is that?

Also if you have a chance, get down to Himeji or Shinsaibashi in Osaka and go to a ramen place called Zundoya...the chashumen (get it spicy) with fried rice and a glass bottle of Coke is absolutely excellent.

Family Sunday Lunch

Looks great!

Tonight I cooked some baked swai stuffed with crab and lobster sprinkled with smoked paprika on a bed of spinach and creamy polenta. With asparagus and butternut squash on the side.

Amazingly didn't have to cook for Thanksgiving aside from one side dish.

How do you cook your asparagus? Just wondering because that looks like it is soft but crisp and that is how I like it. Unfortunately I can never get it exactly right.

Yup, that's how I like it to be, too. I use fresh asparagus, coat it with olive oil plus some salt & pepper, and I cook it on a Lodge cast iron grill pan until bright green and tender-crisp. Hope that helps!

Thanks, I prepare it the exact same way (except some times I put parmesan cheese on them). I usually put them in a skillet or steam them. I like steaming the best, or blanching.
