We usually don't get a tree because we go home to the East Coast for Christmas, but this year we figured we'd get a small tree to get in the spirit. It was 82 degrees in Los Angeles today, so you can imagine it can be difficult to feel Christmas-y.

Yeah i've always wondered about that. What's christmas like in LA? It must be so hard to get into the holiday spirit. I can't even imagine.

Trailer park? he lives in a really nice apartment in philly.

lol, i was joking. why did he leave it up for an entire year? is he gonna replace it this year?

Him and his girlfriend want to see how long it can smell nice for...if it still smells good a week before christmas, they're keeping it up as long as they can.

I imagine it's much more "normal" for LA natives, but I grew up in Boston, so it's odd driving through Beverly Hills all decked out in Christmas decorations when it's 82 degrees out. I typically don't get really in the spirit until I go home around mid-December. It has to be scarf weather for it to be Christmas. :D

Forgot to say, love your tree!

Thats the kinda girl who I want to marry.

Or the kind of girl that makes an appearance during Black Widows Week

(FYI Black Widows Week is on Investigative Discovery and is about women murderers/serial killers.)

Here is my tree. I went with a white one this year.

Albino fir tree? must be rare.

i got it at home depot, the price won't change in a couple of weeks. After the real one dies i put up the fake one until the end of january. i love me some christmas trees.
Oh ok. In that case I'd be on board with that. ;)

This is no lie. My brother still has his tree up from last december. its brown, but it still smells amazing! And they stopped watering it in March.

This was taken a couple weeks ago.
Right, but does he light it? All it takes is a spark.

Nothing like picking up a big, beautiful fir in Boston, though. I always go with my Dad, and we get a monster tree. Can't wait. :)
Funny, I go west. I'm from the LA area and I live in NC. Since moving here, going back to LA makes it feel less like Christmas because of the weather. Although right now we're getting 65º - 70º weather which I believe is unusual for this time of year.

Native So. Cal people really don't seem to need cold weather. As a matter of fact, if it is 60º we used to dress as though it was peaking at 30º. I recall dressing warmer in the winter in CA than I do on the East Coast. If you really want to get all wintery then you drive an hour to the mountains and thaw out at home on the beach. :D And no tree for me because the only promise I've managed to keep is that I come back home every year for Christmas.

Yeah that's pretty much what i figured.

Thanks! I'm very happy with my tree this year. I put a lot of effort into that ribbon!

I LOVE those fake white trees. I think they look really cool. I'll probably buy one next year.

I think the scrooge is downrating all the christmas related posts. But that's ok, i fixed them.

Ha, so I've noticed. It was like 60 degrees the other day and people at the grove were dressed in full length coats - one lady even had a hat and scarf on. I used to be more snarky about it, but having lived here for a couple of years, I find myself wussifying towards the cold more and more.

I've caught myself proclaiming it's cold when it's only cold by LA standards - and I absolutely die that first week home in Boston winter.

I guess I'll gladly give up my polar bear survival skills to enjoy never having to shovel a driveway ever again. I will probably never get used to the lack of rain and the hysteria rain causes, though.

But the festivus pole is still dumb. :)

I just like it as a jab against the people with the over the top trees and decorations.

Thank you. His sarcasm must be broken.

Maybe get a FSM emblem, and use it as a Festivus Pole topper?

And having a natural tree still up after a year is called hording, and fire departments frown on that type of behaviour. ;)

Tree #2 is up! Excuse the mess on the desk. This one is fake though.

Will put ours up this upcoming weekend. Me and the GF pick one out from home depot and then I get it in the stand, she decorates it. Won't let me touch it. However it is my responsibility to get rid of it, just takes a small ax and the fireplace.

Will post pics up when it happens.

:D Our tree has looked identical for like 10 years. As far as I can remember it has always looked like this. Except we used to use a fake 16ft tree but we switched to a real tree.

Yeah you can't beat that fresh pine smell, no matter how big and beautiful the fake tree is.

Ours always goes up Black Friday. Every ornament is different and sentimental in some way. Some are of places we've visited, some are from Christmas for Kids, some are White House ornaments, some are yearly ornaments from my sister's family (we exchange them instead of gifts) and some are special in some other way.

We've never had a real tree as the one year my folks did one I remember it being a complete pain and not worth the effort.

What's this new fascination with hanging your christmas trees off the wall people?? How do you even do that?? And what's the deal with the horizontal windows? Where do you live?!?!

I am confused on all of this. Sorry.
EDIT: whoops just got it lol. Umm I took a picture with my cell phone and it seemed to turn sideways and I don't know how to change it to upright.

For me, it was Preview rotating it wrong when I saved it to a size that MR would take (under 1.41MB for JPEG). I had to uncheck keep original rotation or something to that effect to get it to keep the vertical rotation. It must be a bug in Preview as the orientation is accurate on my iPhone where I took it.
