While I generally agree, BestBuy (and their Amazon.com price-match policy) sure did come in handy a few weeks ago when my wireless router's 2.4GHz amp died. So the store isn't completely useless, albeit I still don't trust the blue-shirts to know anything about the products. (yes I realize there are some good, caring, knowledgable best buy employees, my luck hasn't been real good in finding them)

I'll tell u what, Disney has THE BEST terminals for Apple Pay. I don't know if they're running a more updated version of software in their terminals or what but I literally put my phone up to terminal, authenticated with the FP sensor, & the register spit out the receipt. I didn't have to enter any PIN, Ok the amount, it didn't ask for cash back or anything. It was amazing.
Every retailer that officially supports Apple Pay should be on this level of convenience. I don't understand why a place like Walgeeens has a completely different experience. Seriously, Apple needs to intervene

I was there today and nope! Not yet. I'll be there tomorrow and it's not looking good either.

Freaking machines by the ferry kept my $3 and didn't give me water one night. Causing me/us to be even grumpier in the cattle mass and miss the prior ferry. My kids won't let me on the ferry again, nor attempt to use a vending machine! (I was so thirsty it wasn't even funny, coupled with a bleeding heel... I might have elbowed a foreign tourist shoving past me once we were all in our holding pin..... )
I tried at the hospital ER last weekend. They had card readers for the employees, but only bills for the rest of us. Like I had change and paper money. Not.
I tried my MC at Home Depot and it's still failing.
Back to Disney, we will be there sometime this week or next - life is mucking us up right now!
I almost used one of those machines last night.
They still dont let pass holders attach a credit card to a Magic Band for payments. Very odd that Disney would take so long to roll this sort of thing out.
My bank FINALLY got Apple Pay going....
I set it up yesterday and today was my first occasion to use it at a Walgreens.
Well, the biggest problem for it is: it's winter, in Minnesota and my skin is dry and the fingerprint reader wasn't happy at all with my peeling callouses (guitar player) so I had to set up my primary finger all over again when I got home.
The other thing: the Walgreens software on their device was awfully cumbersome. You swipe the phone, it finally read it and then decided to go "uh, is this debit or credit? Do you want to possibly donate an amount to diabetes research? What about the special weasel society?"
Okay, I exagerrate but though it worked it seemed that there was a lot more interaction after I swiped the phone over the sensor.
But.....IT WORKED! And I realized I could have used it at a few other locations today and didn't even realize it. Sigh.

Walgreens having those questions isn't a bad thing because sometimes I need cash back and Walgreens at least I can do that with Apple Pay.
"Officially" supporting Apple Pay means NOTHING. Some places made no changes at all. You know that huge USA technologies announcement? There's one where I work - the things have been enabled for contactless for ages. Same with Walgreens.
Hopefully, official support means nothing is broken (e.g. Mastercard with Apple Pay at Home Depot is broken). But even that is not a guarantee, for example the local Subway near me disabled contactless shortly after Apple Pay came out (and they already had the terminal behind the counter and instructed staff not to let customers use it - though most would as they didn't understand the difference between the Subway app which they do allow and Apple Pay - you just had to insist they hit the credit card button and not mobile).
I was in the FtLauderdale airport last Friday and went to one of those little stores to buy a bottle of water. All I had on me was a $20 and a $1. The water came out to like $2.39 and I went to pull out my credit card because I didn't want to break the $20 and I also didn't want to have change in my pocket during a flight. So as I went to pull out my credit card I noticed the NFC terminal..said to my self hmmmmmmmmmmm lets see if this works..and WALAH...APPLE PAY WORKED LIKE A CHARM!
I usual being a bottle of Gatorade from home when I workout. Forgot the Gatorade and wanted to pick one up from the vending machine but didn't have any cash. Walked over to the vending machine and noticed it had an NFC reader. Held up my phone and BAM, bought a Gatorade. Very very cool.
I imagine the pin is a pet store basis. I don't believe (I could be wrong) that it really has anything to do with software. It's like the old signature in the back of the card. It is pokicy at some stores to check the card for a signature. At some stores it's not. I have no idea why some stores would require a pin though. Perhaps they aren't sold on the security of Apple pay.
I have been wanting to try apple pay but i use nothing but a debit card and it appears its not supported. Also i have not come across a store that carries it. I would love to see the vending machines around here to incorporate it. I hate looking for quarters
I have my debit cards in here and they work just fine. As for Apple Pay, look for a Verifone terminal, or even just a Walgreens
If it's a debit card it's just what happens. If it's a credit card it's because your phone didn't have an Internet connection (you were on the phone using a CDMA network, you had no service, you were in airplane mode)
I haven't used Apple Pay inside of a store yet, but I used it in the Starbucks app yesterday to reload. Pretty awesome, I gotta say.

I use Apple Pay all the time to buy Cokes from the vending machine at work. Today I did it, and the Coke was sold out. It told me to make a new selection. I did, but then it said transaction canceled. I got no drink. Passbook doesn't reflect refunds or cancellations, so I guess I'll have to watch my credit card statement now to make sure I'm credited. I'd like to think Apple Pay is pretty accurate with this stuff, but I'll trust it when I see it.

It took a few days but this also happened to me. It reflects your account fine. It's your bank not Apple Pay. Think of Apple Pay as a second card for your account. It doesn't change how the account has always worked.
That actually funny the only thing that works in my college is the vending machines with apple pay, and they work everytime.
