I've tried all of the profiles in this thread; AbsenceOfTruth's profile is nearly perfect.

However, I think this one is definitely the best (very similar, but a dash of red tuned out -- LG matte).

BTW, cool tip: Go to a totally dark room, turn up the brightness your MBP, and look at your keyboard. It will now be easier to determine what kind of 'tint' the profile offers (for instance, my profile is slightly yellowish).

Looks very reasonable on my 9C67 Matte 15" 2.4 Penryn - better than the rest on here
Thank you kindly :)

Hi guys, newbie here i was just wondering how do you find out your mbp lcd manufacturer? i see a bunch of codes like 9C67 that represent a brand like samsung/lg being posted but i cant seem to find anything similar in the "about this mac"?

I just wanted to report my opinion and the opinion of several others that have taken a look at my screen. I've tried a whole slew of profiles, including all of the ones on here.

I think the attached profile is by and far the best one on my Penryn Glossy Samsung MBP. Strangely, the others paled in comparison. There was no contest.

I found the profile in this thread and in several other threads on this forum.

I purchased my MBP on 3/1/08.
Display Manu: 00000610
Model: 00009C83
Manu Date: C2110E00

How do I apply this color profile to my monitor? Should I open it with "sutliff expander", or save it to disc? and then what should i do?

Once its downloaded it should appear as a .icc file
If it shows up as a .zip file then yes unzip it first

Move the .icc file to your folder - Library > Colorsync > Profiles then Displays

You can now choose it from System Pref > Displays > Color

As mentioned on the first page - check out
System Preferences -> Displays -> Color -> Open Profile -> 13 -> Model

Under Model you'll be greeted with a number like 0009C67

MBP Penryn 9C83 display profiles

I've profiled the MBP Penryn 9C83 display using the x-rite color display2 hardware and the coloreyes pro software. Included in the zip are six profiles:

MBA D65 18.icc (6500K white point, 1.8 gamma)
MBA D65 22.icc (6500K white point, 2.2 gamma)
MBA D65 L.icc (6500K white point, L* gamma)
MBA Native 18.icc (Native white point, 1.8 gamma)
MBA Native 22.icc (Native white point, 2.2 gamma)
MBA Native L.icc (Native white point, L* gamma)

Note L* is a gamma used by the coloreyes software that tries to retain the darker colors shown by the 1.8 gamma and the brighter colors shown by the 2.2 gamma. It works well at that but is overall less contrasty than the other gamma points.

My favorite and the one I'm using is the D65 1.8 gamma. But there should be something here for everyone. Note that there really isn't one right answer since what white point you use and gamma depends on your objective and the hardware profiled.

It was too large to upload the zip here, you can find the file at this link:

much thanks for the profile above. I've been looking for that "just right" profile for my 9C83 screen and now I've found it. I like how it gives everything a natural look, but yet it still has a good amount of color and contrast all blended in to one profile.

thanks again. :)

Cheers that one makes my new MBP look a a lot better

for a 9C67 screen (LG)

Here's a profile that I made. I have a 2.2 SR MBP with a glossy screen. I'm actually really happy with this profile (took me a while to get one i was ok with)- matches great with my ACD.

Let me know what you think.

Does anyone have a good calibration file for a 17" Hi-Res Matte display. Mine is a 9C7A and I haven't seen this one before in this forum. Is this an LG or Samsung? Thanks...

I've calibrated my 9C81 Penryn 15" matte display, with the Spyder 2 Express. The profiles are attached, using version 2.2 (which I believe uses the native whitepoint of the display) and 2.3 (which uses 6500K). I prefer the native one, but ymmv.

I have the 9C81 Glossy that i recieved today and 2.2 is BADASS!

By far the best profile on here for this particular display.

Kudos to you sir and thank you very much!

Quick question-- matte or glossy screen?

Thanks,

JT

Looking through this thread trying to find the best calibration for the LG 9C67 display, that's the one.

Very nice. AbsenceofTruth also posted a great profile.

i tried AbsenceofTruth's profile...and wow is it so much different than the one i made with Expert Mode...I'm not sure if its better or not. I know its a lot more yellow than the one I made...

2.2 is $$$

Best I've tried by far. Thanks for posting it.
