Some of you guys are killing me with your wiring...how do you sleep at night???:D

My living room gets me by until I can start on my dedicated theater room in a couple years.

Is the cabinet from ikea? Can you tell me it's name, I really like it!

As for your setup, that is exactly the setup I am planning on doing!

that looks pretty good but the tv seems too high imo.

Actually it's made by BDI. Extremely well designed and built but fairly expensive.

As for the height of the display, regardless of what you might read, optimal placement can only be established by taking into consideration location of seating position, type of seating and user preference. I know, like most you've probably seen some formula online that says it needs to be followed, but trust me when I say there is no prefabbed formula for every room. Home theater is one of my specialties.

BTW my living room can hit 16hz at 114db thanks to SVS:eek:

THANK YOU!!!!! I have been looking for a site like this! Every Home Theater website I have been to has sucked!
haha

Oh and as for it's height.. you should see mine. its way up there, but its great on my back and neck since it prevents me from slouching.

makes sense, but as far as gaming i find a more eye level is preferable. You might not be gaming so in that case it's not important. I mounted my tv high at first and i was seriously getting neck cramps so i had to lower it and it was much more comfortable. Looks great though.

I would agree. For gaming eye level is much better.

Ya, they were the MDR-V700's by Sony. The ones you linked are better suited for listening/producing music. The sony's arent the best audio quality, but they're really loud, and great for Dj'ing.

Look a bit like Sony MDR-V700 to me. Not in the same league as the two you linked.

Thanks for the replies. I saw them sitting there and given the amount of audio equipment I wondered if they were what I was after. I'll still see if I can check them out some'eres. :)

It makes me feel good to know that not everyone has an HDTV. :D

I really need to break down and buy one.

My HDTV is my Mac Pro with it's 23" HD ACD. I have no plans on buying a HDTV anytime soon. I have 1.5TB of video purchased from iTunes.

I have the computer right here on my coffee table and when I want to watch something, I just sit back on the couch and enjoy. My Apple wireless keyboard is my remote. I rarely watch anything on TV anymore.

Holy ****! At 1.5GB a piece... that's 1000 videos. Assuming they cost about $15 a piece, you've spent over $15,000 on those videos! Wow. Just, wow. You HAVE to me one of iTunes' best customers.

No, I didn't pay that much. All of these are complete TV show seasons such as the HD versions of Lost, the Office, Weeds, Desperate Housewives and Californication so they have both SD and HD versions. The rest are SD versions such as the all nine seasons of the X-Files, 24 and so on.

Newly updated setup:

-Sony Bravia 40" 1080p LCD (waiting for the price on the xbr8's to come down!)
-Sony BDP-S550 blu-ray (for the 7.1 analog outputs)
-Harman Kardon AVR-335 receiver
-Harman Kardon HKTS-18 + 2 extra HK speakers for 7.1 surround sound
--with matching HK stands for front speakers
--upgraded speaker wire to 12-gauge
-Panasonic DVD-R/ VCR combo
-160GB Apple TV
-APC H15 power center
-slim PS2
-Harmony 550 universal remote
