Yeah, but the walls are pinkish, if they were grey/black, I'm sure it'd be a better picture. Still, at night when there's no light coming through the windows, it's so realistic!

though it's not the post i quoted, i like your plans fireshot!
oh man and when i'm older and (hopefully) get the chance to have my own house i would sooo have black painted walls in the basement for an awesome home theater experience.

Thanks

If you can afford it, I'd say go ahead. (Even if you can't, at least try! :p).
It is definitely worth it. All of my family (Cousins) have home theater set-ups in the basement, and so we all feel awkward whenever we go to a house and watch T.V/Video Games on a T.V that's not a projector.

considering my age i have pleeeeenty of time to draw up some plans:D. can you watch regular, as in cable, tv on a projector? or are those solely for DVD players and that sort of thing?

Yeah, I can watch regular cable/satellite.

Most projectors only have 1-2 HDMI in ports. So, in order to connect something, I use a receiver. It has audio in connections, and 4 HDMI in. I hook my satellite receiver to that. It also has a coaxial input if you don't have a cable box.

Not a gr8 pic, but here goes:

Sony Bravia 40" full HD
HUMAX HDTV digital receiver
Sony STR-DG820
Magnat Needle Alu 9000
Mac mini Core 2 Duo, 4 GB RAM, 9400 M
TV

B&W XT2's
B&W XTC

Rather enjoying your lack of cabling. Can't wait until I can get out of rented accommodation and install in walls!

That looks great! Is that one of those walls that has a sort of room behind it with a cabinet for running wires?

What tv shelf unit is that? I need it!

pretty sure he isn't running cables through the walls. looks like he has the wires behind a piece of plastic/molding along the floor, then up to the tv through another piece of plastic/molding

very nice set up

marantz01.jpg

Kind of out of date, but I'm too lazy to take another one. I was doing some work here; wiring up the new marantz's, and moving all my components around, and installing new ones. All wires are typically 100 % hidden.

47" Vizio 1080p LCD (love this TV!)
Vintage Marantz HD770 speakers
Xbox 360
80 gig PS3
AppleTV (removed in this pic)
vintage turntable
Marantz EQ

Not pictured:

HK AVR-354 receiver (replaced the Denon)
Morel Sa-MKII rear speakers
Klipsh RW-10D sub
lame Sony center channel speaker

As you can see on the second to last picture of that great setup, he has wires running through a plastic mold near the floor. You can see the wires coming out of the plastic part, also in the speaker pictures, you can see the wires going into that plastic part.
