pretty sure he isn't running cables through the walls. looks like he has the wires behind a piece of plastic/molding along the floor, then up to the tv through another piece of plastic/molding

very nice set up

As you can see on the second to last picture of that great setup, he has wires running through a plastic mold near the floor. You can see the wires coming out of the plastic part, also in the speaker pictures, you can see the wires going into that plastic part.

;)

What is the brand/make of that stand? I like that one because it seems a bit taller than many others I've seen. How do you like it?

Nothing too impressive.

47" LG 47LG70
Xbox 360
PS3

Sorry for iPhone pic.

I posted way back when this thread was just getting started, but just went through some major upgrades.

I replaced my 65" HDTV with a 1080p projector, so for the folks out there complaining that "it's not a home theater unless there's a projector," I guess mine qualifies now ;)

I'm quite happy with the new setup -- Blu-Ray movies look awesome on the projector, much more "theatrical" than on the big screen TV!

EDIT (August 5) -- My home theater has been a work in progress, but with the addition of a new bar/concession stand, I think it may finally be complete :). I added more photos here, since I felt another post on the same page might be a bit much. ;)

I think I'm done now...I'm at the point where I'm considering my home setup 'complete'.

Pictured:
Samsung LN-T4661F 46" LCD HDTV (1080p, blah blah blah)
Polk SurroundBar 50 Speakers (mounted under the TV)
Apple TV 40GB
Panasonic DMP-BD35 Blu-Ray Player
TiVo HD + WD DVR Expander (500GB) + Wireless Adapter
Yamaha RX-V665 Receiver
BIC Acoustech PA-120 Subwoofer
B&W DM602 S2 Speakers...for music only, connected to...
Antique Sound Labs 'Wave' Tube Amps (connected to Apple TV/B&W Speakers)
Wall-E ;)

It's not a "home theater" but it's my home living room ... and I'm ok with it until I get into a place that doesn't frown too much upon wall mounting everything so I can rid myself of much of the clutter.

The only thing missing is a center channel speaker that was supposed to be ordered today ... late bday present. :D

Nice :) Like the kitty action shot and the strategically placed MBP :)

Thanks.

Kitty just got up and that seemed to be the better shot. It really worked out. And it's a MB Air and it is always there or on my breakfast bar when not in use. :)

My den setup: eventually I may put up a screen and projector since actually the space would be perfect for it, but for now, this is stand-in enough for "home theater" for just my wife and I. (Pics are from Jan of this year, but nothing much has changed).

56" Samsung DLP/1080p, some crap speakers, and (shown) crap Philips surround unit (came free with the TV), PS3, and Wii. Also not-used in ages DVD players and VCR.

Just around the corner is a closet with a custom PC setup, the main running both Win7 and OSX, with DVI-to-HDMI cables running through the wall to the DLP. Media server with tons of hard drive space for movies and TV shows. Also several DirecTV sat receivers, HDHomeRun network tuner, and router equipment. Looks are unimportant, all of it is the way I like AV equipment to be:- blissfully beyond sight or earshot.

Onkyo 905 as pre-pro
Sunfire Cinema Grand II Architectural amp

At the time that pic was taken, I was still using Windows XP- now it's running Windows 7.

It's not the OS visable of course, but an HTPC front-end called xlobby, so we never have to actually use the OS itself. (xlobby used to be freeware, now it's sold only with custom HTPC gear) It's using a skin called Redeux.

Redeux.jpg

I've heavily modified it from the original (the main thing I love about xlobby, you can tweak it endlessly to create any type of user interface). I shrank/added/changed the buttons, changed the fonts, added the now playing and next up music display to the front page, added app launch icons at the bottom, and Wake On LAN control for my media servers, and moved the analog clock out of the way of the media buttons. At the top I added the time and date fields.

To be honest. I'm not really interested in the TV ;).. But that Guitar... I was just wondering if it might be an Epiphone Dot/Sheraton... Sorry, Its just that I have recently bought a Dot, and well... Anyway... I'm most likely wrong ... Thanks!

Just reposting my setup pic b/c I got this new custom theme, which is stunning BTW. Go check it out right here on Deviant Art - it's called "Aniom".
xAfro1989-1.jpg

As soon as I get back to England. I'm Installing that!!! :O

Here's the new setup. I have to have my dresser there in order to fit a desk in my room, so I got that little shelving unit for the electronics. I'm still playing with the placement of everything and am open to suggestions!

Which one do you like better?
