Thanks! Nice setup, hope you like the apple tv as much as I do!

It was about a year's worth of vision all wrapped up into one basement design. I did alot myself and everything I couldn't do I had my builder do. He rocks for being patient with me, we did alot of non-traditional things where I had to draw/re-draw out 10x times for his crew. :)

Thanks! And yes... I too am in love with my AppleTV. It's the solution I've been dreaming of for about 8 years now... In my opinion, Apple hit a home run with this one. It's just the perfect solution for my household.

I can completely relate to your 'year's worth of ideas' point... I am going through the same exact same thing with my desk (check my signature). One thing I've learned along the way is that anything worth building is worth taking the time and building right. Your basement looks like you've put a lot of thought and love into it. I am glad that you've got it finished, and hope you and your family get a lot of enjoyment out of it.

Very nice setup. Did you think about going for a darker color carpet, though? I would be worried about some light bouncing off the white. Probably a non-issue.

In person it's a dark brown and is a non-issue, the light doesn't reflect at all.

My not yet complete Home Theater

Well, technically its a home theatre, except for the 5.1+ channel thing (which will be available by mid 2009)

Equipment:

  1. Sharp AQUOS 32" HDTV
  2. Klipsch Reference 52's floorstanding loudspeakers.
  3. NAD C315BEE amplifier.
  4. 60GB PlayStation 3.
  5. AirPort Express for streaming music.

Watching movies and playing some games on HD without the complete multichannel audio is still effin awesome, and when I add the subwoofer (in October) it will be even better, and with my 160GB tv coming in a month or so this setup just keeps getting better :p. BTW I'm 16.

Victor

Sweeet :D btw you aught to get a learning remote. They're not as good as they could be, but it's still better than juggling remotes...

Just some basic stuff, the entertainment center is home made, my design.

So, I just moved back to Chicago from Florida, and of course the first priority was a new TV. :) So, here's what I ended up getting.

Panasonic Viera (TH-50PZ80U) 50"
Panasonic PT960 Home Theater (the rear speakers are wireless...quite convenient)

The TV stand is by a company called Init...tempered glass shelves, and really sturdy!
Also pictured are the Wii and PS3, of course.

I will mount the TV at some point...I just haven't had time (or friends around) to get it done since I got back.
are you playing mario kart on the wii?

We just moved so this isn't my theater any more...but planning on my next one!

Wow, some of these theaters are spectacular.

Here is ours when we first moved into the house 3 years ago. Money was limited. 54" Mitsubishi rear projection HDTV, Dish HD dual DVR, Sony 5.1 surround sound, PS2.

Fast forward to February 2008. LG 50" Plasma, DirecTV HD dual DVR, same Sony stereo surround and the PS2. New furniture though, and the room arrangement is different :)

And this is how it is today. Same setup, new carpet though. The fugly green is GONE!!! (pic taken with my iPhone)

Entertainment Setup

Here I've got:
- The brand new 50" Pioneer 5010-FD KURO
- 160GB TV
- 60GB PS3
- Junky Kenwood sound system
- HDTV Cable Box that looks like it came out a monkey's butt.

My 360 and Wii didn't make the cut to sit under the beautiful Pioneer.

New sub arrived today from eBay. Mission M2Sas, 8" poly/alu driver, 100W amplifier. Should play nicely with my Mission 732 standmounts. I can't test it out until I buy some more speaker wire (luckily there's a hifi shop just across the road from where I work so I can pop out at lunch tomorrow). Once I've checked that it's in full working order, I'm unfortunately boxing it up again until September when I move into the new flat. My room in the current flat is far too small to set up my speakers properly (my standmounts are currently on the floor) & the walls are far too thin to use a subwoofer.

I took a better shot of it for you. If you want any other shots of it, just let me know.

and the matching side table. Please ignore the wiring, we are working on eliminating that.

Very jealous of that Home Theatre and Office setup Kurfer.....

Did that stuff after you bought the house? Anyway it's awesome.

Thanks for the compliments, I ended up putting the entire basement design in 1 year after we built the house. We waited since it was a new house build and wanted the house to "settle" for a year before putting drywall in the basement.

There's a lot of nice setups in this thread (Kurfer's is awesome -- I agree with everyone else on that!)

Here's my setup -- it's pretty basic compared to some of these, but I'm happy with it. :)

Quoting my own pic for an update - sub doesn't work :<
Probably have to send it back, at my expense, for a refund, not including original delivery, which means I'll be down >£25 for the venture. Why does this always happen to me?
