whats odd is that macbook pros are still 1-3 days, while iMac shortages and shipping time has been and is still rocky. I don't buy into the whole retina for a 27" screen just yet. i see it being a little thinner and or loose the chin, anti reflective glass but same form factor, then of course usual bumps.

WWDC , if retina is coming for the mbp, i wouldn't want to distract from the main attraction of retina and other branded achievements by touting a refresh. It would be like hey guys heres a awesome faster lighter nicer car, adore it, but by the way stop and look at the decals and fancy rearview mirrors on this one..

I still keep this week and next for iMac. once the 30th hits and nothing then wwdc /June we go.

well i was just checking stock and prices around the internet / thinking about past comments + all the rumors & wait time

What is s sigh of relief imo, is that while looking at all of this( 2-4 day shipping times, bestbuy prices slashes, third part stock empty etc, means 1 of 2 things to me.

Given- new hardware is coming

what makes sense:
we have waited long, Cook noted that the June quarter would see a mix of iPads and macs/ one time products that didn't occur in March. -Also, retailers are low of supplies, even an apple store person on MR said they haven't gotten much shipments. Plus prices are being slashed.
Why would Apple allow all these price cuts and stock dwindle if the imac/ mbp are not almost here AND ready for purchase? Maybe ML will be ready? Point is stock and price slashes won't hover through July for an OS Hardware has not been held back for ML

what doesn't make sense:

For hardware to wait for ML. WWDC will likely see retina something. But dev previews for ML have been rocky and looked far from done. But why would support staff be trained months ahead of time for the OS? So ML i don't know, maybe there will be a 10.7.5 once WWDC hits to allow retina. I say this because it would be un-Apple to release retina mbp and maybe iMac too but then say buy now * ( buy now due to the facts i listed above) but wait until late summer for ML to see retina due to ML. Its like buy this fast car shell and well give you the turboboost later on, just wait..

Checked around a bit as well. More 3rd party resellers are running low on stock, but the Apple Store in some countries now have shorter BTO-times (and thus increases stock?), for example Sweden, Germany and the UK store. Don't really know what to make of it.

Perfectly timed with tax returns that rich people get from making so much money that they don't care if they overpay.

..correct me if i'm totally wrong but
after the new Ipad release the Ipad 2 has been shifted down
in terms of prices becoming the entry level of its category..
so i was wondering..
what if the "old 2011" ..ok...do you think reasonable to see
the 2011 still on sales after the 2012'ones release?
with the 2011 decreased in prices taken to the down
for example you could have a 2011 21" imac then a factory 2012 21"" then a BTO 2012 21",or a 2011 27" Sandy Bridge I5 with a 6770/69..then an factory 2012 i5 27" and lastly a 27" BTo i7 with a (please...!!) Amd 7xxx
maybe that explain why some stocks are increasing
while others not...

Makes a very valid point ... I like that kind of thinking

What sucks is it seems this wait is so slow. Looking back 3 weeks is nothing but forward ugg. Assuming models dont come before hand. It feels we should be 2 weeks away

As far as im aware the production of the old version of macs stops prior to the release of a new version. This is not the case with the ipad 2, which is not a mac-computer but an iOS device.

The shortages on macs is usually shown at 3rd party resellers first, because apple keeps stock at its own apple stores almost to the end of the cycle. After the release of a new mac, apple then offers the remaining mac to different resellers at a premium to clear out stock or puts them on the refurbished store.

3rd party vendors have the last couple of weeks been dealing with low stock or out of stock, with long reorder dates which is a sign of a near release. Apple usually keep the applestore stocked until 1 or 2 days before, then shipping times goes to 3-5 days.

According to the numbers as previous post sums up, the release should happen before or at WWDC the latest. But there is no gaurantee, we haven't seen a cycle this long for a very long time.

I'm probably going to buy the high end 21". I'll buy and add RAM later (but not from apple!). I'd rather collect and get on with moving my stuff over. I hate waiting for deliveries etc.

I'm definitely getting any extra needed RAM from Crucial. Big thing for me is the SSD. Not sure if it will be standard or not.

And Elgiganten (The largest or second largest electric retailer in Sweden) has less than 5 iMacs in stock in all of Sweden for both 21,5" and top 27". For the base 27" they have none in stock in the whole country. Restocking date is set for May 28.

I'm also aiming at high end 21,5" with added SSD, if not standard.

I wish they stopped having different BTO options for 21,5" and 27" because if they did I'd also upgrade the GPU. No sense in having different BTO options for the two sizes, I simply don't want the large screen but I still want a great machine.

Soo much hoping for an update tomorrow.

I agree, I hate big screens, 23" is as far as I can go personally. I would also like to be able to BTO a better GPU.

Also hoping for tomorrow. But I've readied myself for disappointment.

Fingers crossed for tomorrow, but pretty sure it at least is gonna be 29th of may or later.

The lack of more rumors properly suggest WWDC (11th june).

It is good news that more and more resellers are running out, we just need to see apple stores slip to 3-5 days, then well be almost there:)

I´m almost certain it will not be tomorrow. If they are in fact introducing a retina display supported machine as the macbook pro, they are certainly not releasing an iMac without it....that would just be silly - as its obviously an transition apple will go though with their machines.

And, if they are in fact introducing retina display on their machines, that would require Mountain Lion and some sort of informative introduction telling why and how great it is bla bla. ....so that will not be a silent update, hence it will be announced at WWDC and probably released later with Mountain Lion (july-august)

But I´m with the rest of you, I´m sick of waiting and we are now more than 100days above average release intervals, its ridiculous.
