in your example, would going from 5120 X 2880 to the next lowest option, 2880 X 1620 , be the equivalent of using Windows 10 'scaling' slider to bump it up to 125% of the selected resolution? That option worked great for me in Windows, to be able to not have to back down the resolution yet increase font size,etc


edit -...I just tried my next to lowest setting from max...yes, things got bigger, but all that glorious razor sharpness just went away with it....It's a vexing trade-off...unless Apple engineers can figure out a way to do what they did for the window body of web browser content, ie- press Control + to increase text and overall content size there...that method works so well...if they could only apply that concept to program and system menu bars , windows and their text size!

So you can't select the actual resolution of your screen by pressing OPTION/ALT + show all resolutions?

I can…but menu bar and overall windows are smallish and my point was, yes you can drop the resolution lower than max, which is 3440X 1440), and things do get larger but at the expense of the great sharpness and resolution clarity that the maximum resolution gives you, hence my comment about it being a sort of trade off as is, unless Apple engineers would give the option to scale any windows menu and text size on that menu like they do with the body of a browsers window by pressing control + to make things larger

Lotta musicians here, nice. :) Here's my setup. Powered by an M1 Mini atm, but it's all connected by only two Thunderbolt 3 cables, so I can easily switch to my old Macbook Pro when I need to. (I still need Mojave for some old projects)

Desk is an IKEA standing desk with an extra shelf on top, to store my Midi Keyboard under when I'm not using it.
Chair: Herman Miller Cosm.

Very nice Setup, question: how is the Logitech keys and mx mouse 3 working for you? Any bluetooth issues or do you use the uSB dongle that comes with them? Thank You!

Thanks! I’m using the Unifying receiver that came with the keyboard and it’s working well. I did have to put the receiver at the end of a USB extension cable and sit it closer to the devices though. When I had the receiver plugged directly into the Mac, I was experiencing occasional dropouts. If you zoom in on my photo, you’ll see the receiver sitting on the shelf just left of the Scarlett audio interface. I haven‘t tried using Bluetooth however.

I use the MX Keys and the MX Anywhere 2 mouse and both are awesome. Have both connected with Bluetooth, no trouble whatsoever with em, been using the mouse for over a year now, just picked up the keyboard maybe six months ago. They came in really handy working from home too. I use a Lenovo laptop and at the office, have a docking station, mouse, keyboard, etc.. Instead of having to drag all that crap home with me, the keyboard and mouse are connected to my Mini using setup #1, when I have to 'go to work' in the morning, I switch both over to #2 and both work beautifully with the Lenovo, then if I need a keyboard or mouse for my new iPad Pro, switch over to #3 and both work perfect with the iPad as well.

Actually helped out a Logitech employee on a support ticket last week, when I mentioned I loved their stuff I was hoping for some freebies but no luck hahaha.

I now have 2 Mac Mini stations.

The first is my trusty 2018 Intel Mini, now using a new Samsung G9 Odyssey 49in ultra-wide monitor as well as an Asus 32in monitor above. I use Logitech's MX Keys keyboard and the MX Master 3 mouse via the Unifying Receiver since the bluetooth stinks on the Mini. I also use a wireless earphones from Logitech with the RF receiver. This works fine for my purposes since the wireless is more important that good audio quality for my purposes.

I have 2 4TB external drives, one for TimeMachine and the other for additional storage and the Mac itself sits on a Satechi hub station.

On the other desk is my M1 Mini, connected to two Asus 32 inch monitors just like the one on my Intel Mini. This is used as a backup to the other Mini for work as well as FCP and some development work. These monitors are shared with an Intel NUC I use for the radios in the cabinet below the monitors.

- Dell 19 inch monitor connected via "Vention HDMI to DVI" cable to HDMI port
- Lindy HDMI port with USB slot to connect Mi Monitor 34 inch to iPad Pro 2020 11 inch (HDMI to USB C)

- 1080p webcam with mic

- Leather deskmat
- Yeelight Razer Chroma monitor light bar with ambient backlight
- Logitech C920 Pro HD Webcam

Really lovin working with this ambient, the monitor light bar really change the experience and comfort. Never tried before and didn't think it will bring usefulness aside from aesthetics. This allow me to work in the dark but doesn't hurt my eyes.

how you'r mac working with this resolution? i had to sold ASUS monitor 34' 2K i bought because every thing was looks bad on my mini m1. now i bought Dell 27' P2721Q 4K much much better.
 
Moved and now my Mini setup gets less natural light. Didn't realize how dusty a desk can get until after I took the picture, lol!
Yea, I know it's a rat's nest back there.

2018 Mini with 256GB and 64GB of ram. RX580 drives the main Dell U3011 and the Dell U2410 is the integrated one since the Mini just crashes if they're both eGPU powered.
Speakers are these slick Onkyo GX-70A PC speakers with a big Sony sub under the desk. I play alot of Genesis/Mega Drive tunes while on the computer from the Mega Blaster 2 next to the keyboard. Its a hardware based Genesis music player.

I had 12 years as a pro and retired (health) at 54. Sixtynine (69) now and struggling to keep taking pictures. Finding subjects that are new to me. I cannot do this muse thing where one subject is photographed interminably. If what I see (hard enough to do easily nowadays). does not press a button in my head then no photo. is taken. 130,000 negatives were included in my business sale. I sometimes wonder how many actually bought the new rights owner any income (have not asked).

1.5 TB stored digital images since retirement which are rarely reviewed. Boggles my mind to think how many photographs I would have taken without the restrictions of cost/frame we have now.
Keeping my work ethic going with unlimited frames and 15 fps. is also a challenge.
No chimping or spray and pray allowed keeps the composition and timing up to scratch even if the shaking hands and dodgey eyesight would destroy them if I let them.
