I built a ton of these Old Time Machines...

Thanks Woodguy32

Dual 1.25 G4 MDD, 1GB of RAM, 80GB HDD, original Radeon 9000 Pro 64MB running 10.5.8. Was my main machine for the bulk of 2010, actually... only to be usurped by my own custom-built PC when I finally got a decent enough processor in it. (The original build cost me literally nothing though, since I was given the parts as part of a program... so ultimately a great deal.) Said PC runs XP and Ubuntu - 7's just been an absolute nightmare for me.

I've been thinking of setting up a Dual 1.8ghz 2004 G5 I recently saved from the trash room at my college for $1, though. I had to replace the battery and add an optical drive to it, but it wasn't a bad project at all. Came with 2GB of RAM (which I figured I'd slap into the G4 if the system didn't work... still worth the dollar), Radeon 9600 XT 128MB (again, could try it in the G4 if it hadn't worked), and 160GB HD. Wanting to flash and add a 7800GS, but the price is just way too high to justify a marginal upgrade (even if I could swap the G4's card...).

I so badly want an iMac G3, but I just don't have a place to put it, nor would I be able to justify it being really useful (so my mother would likely end up whining incessantly about it).

Ok, here goes what I have.

Currently using a Power Mac G5 Quad w/8GB of memory, and two 1TB hard drives. It is running OS 10.5.8 Leopard.

G4 Pismo which I use for my nostalgia for OS 9 and even early versions of Mac OS X, including Public Beta, 10.0, 10.1, and 10.2 - has also 10.4 in it.

PowerBook G4 1.67 DLHR of which I use as my primary laptop and when I am on the go.

Also have my 2010 Mac Pro 6-core which is the happy brother to my Power Mac G5.. yes, I consider my intel mac and PPC Macs - brothers and not enemies.

Let's see...
No pictures, but I've got a pretty dang old Pismo, don't have the specs offhand. I've also got Graphite, Quicksilver, and MDD G4 Towers (The latter is actually my main computer as my g5 is not functional right now), a dual-processor 2.5ghz g5, a powerbook g4, an iMac G3 (either bondi blue or one revision up, can't remember), but one of my friends had one of the original g3 desktops running starcraft.

I may install ubuntu on the graphite g4 soon, that's what's running on the quicksilver. The MDD runs good 'ol 10.4.11, very stable. It'll be hard to ever let it go because I've customized the software SO much.

I still have a working PowerBook 140 with a 16mhz 68030 chip that still boots on OS 6 with a monochrome screen and 20MB hard drive. I fire it up once in awhile to remind myself what computing used to be like.

Nope - there was no performa 6500. Just a PowerMacintosh 6500. The picture is of a Performa 6400, with which the 6500 shared a case design.

Correct. The 6500 was always considered a PowerMac but the 6400 was first classified as a Performa and then later a Power Mac. I had a 6400/180 in 1998 and it was labeled a Performa.

I only knew the Picture was of a performa model due to the name plate. I had a 6500/275 for a while (2004-2005) and I wish id kept it.... I still love their case design as a matter of fact. Its probably my favourite "Beige" Tower case.

I agree it's a great case but I prefer the 8600/9600 design.

3 days ago I just bought top condition Powerbook G4 1.5Ghz and I feel in love it..it feels like I am using Macbook Pro :)

Yeah I am new here.
