Love the dog! This was the first pic I snapped with my 6s. Coming from a 5 it's a huge improvement!
Very nice photo. Did you use something to hold the camera steady like the app suggest?Another... iPhone 6s Plus, reflection of the clouds at sunrise in a lake. I use the app average camera pro with 64 frames

The photos the 6s plus takes are great and amazing but when you switch to video mode in low light they much darker then in photo mode. My 4s doesn't do this. If you take the video through the message app it doesn't do this. It's only when you take video from the photo app. There is a thread on this. Last night was the first time I took a video with this phone indoors. The 4s always took nice videos in the same room.
iPhone 6s Plus and a mushroom
Yes, my iPhone 6s Plus was on a tripod and I used the app called average camera pro to stack 64 photos for this shot.
The reason the video is darker in low light compared to the camera and lowlight is because video shoots at a certain frame rate per second and when you're at a high frame rate, the sensor does not capture much light. This is why video requires more light than regular photography.
Thanks for the info. My 4s shot at 24 frame per sec also. The 6s Plus is 30 Frames per sec. This is unacceptable to me to have dark videos in lowlight. It's weird the video is normal while taking a vid from the message app but not in camera app. Works as good as the 4s. My friend took the same video with her Samsung S6 as my iPhone 6s Plus. Hers was very nice while mine very dark. She also took hers in 30 frame per sec. As much money as I paid for this iPhone over $1.,000 is unacceptable to me to not be able to take video in low light.
Thanks that would make a difference. Well this phone is going back. I shoot photos but paying this much and not being able to shoot the same vids I did before is disappointing to me.Well take in mind that the Samsung S6 has a lens that F1 .9 which is nearly half a stop faster than the iPhone F2 .2 and that's where The lowlight capabilities are achieved. Much faster optics are what's needed for extremely low light. I am pretty sure that the next iPhone will have F1 .8 or faster optics .
it isn't just limited to faster optics, but also a sensor with higher sensitivity (preferably one that maintains low noise). stablisation also plays a role. moving forward, optics are the limiting factor and manufacturers should now be focusing on sensors. not everyone wants to shoot with a shallow DOF.Well take in mind that the Samsung S6 has a lens that F1 .9 which is nearly half a stop faster than the iPhone F2 .2 and that's where The lowlight capabilities are achieved. It's strange it works fine in the iMessage app. No dark video. It leads me to believe a software problem but the thread complaining about this is 6 and 6s. Have you noticed this as well?

low light room, but a ray of sunlight hit the piano just right, before it decided to hide behind clouds.

I just tried this and you are correct! in the messages app it looks fine, but in the photos app it is much darker and more grainy. I wonder what's going on?
