Overall, the quality of these photos is amazing....I have to wait until July 14, dammit. :(

A big thanks to everyone who posted.

Guys seriously these photos are amazing! The dynamic range and the clarity, sharpness and sensitivity just perfect, it competes with real point & shoot cameras. I think that there's a point now of taking pictures with a phone!

A couple nighttime shots

Here a few nighttime shots of Atlantic Station (Midtown - Atlanta)

My car, it handles the transition from Shade to Light well enough (certainly, exceeds my expectations for a camera phone)

What? There are no women in any of these pictures!

Man, you're way off. Look closer. 4 looks way better. Look at the jaggies in the lettering on the 3GS

I think you've misunderstood what he's saying. He's saying that to compare them they need to be the same size to be able to see the difference. If they aren't the same size then you can't see the 'jaggies' that you have referred to.

time for a cat photo!

Dont hate on the in-camera post! I just hate the way raw photos look and was too excited how fast everything ran compared to my old 3G.

Everything was tweaked on the iphone though, nothing done on computer.

Seems like the camera overexposes slightly which is a bit annoying.

Damn. I never thought depth of field was attainable on a mobile camera. I'm impressed.

It could b a r e l y be done with the 3GS.

Certainly much easier with the iP4.

Some depth. If you wanted the same 'level' of bokeh out of a 3GS, there would need to be much more distance between the cats and the stuff in the back:

Random detail shot:

seems like a lot of blown overexposed photos

but for a camera phone, pretty much what you'd expect. A flash is a welcome addition. Can flash be made to be on all the time to use it as flashlight, or is it a strobe only?

Great pics, everybody! I am anxiously awaiting mine to get here via the magic of UPS today. Your pics are just making me more jumpy! :) In a good way

While the iPhone4's camera is definitely an improvement, its not a huge leap forward. At first glance they look good, but upon closer inspection, the photos have A LOT of noise reduction processing. This makes them look less "noisy", but washes out most of the detail. Just look at the samples at full zoom, they look like mosaics.
That being said, the iPhone4 looks like really nice update. Even if the camera really isn't special, I am excited about the 720p video, cpu update and amazing screen!

Here is a Flickr set I just made where I am posting some test shots. I will post more so bookmark it if you are interested. All of the flickr photos have a link to download the original full sized version for comparison purposes, and all photos I am posting here will be unedited.
