Just picked up this Power Mac MDD this afternoon. It is a single 1.25ghz version with 1mb cache. Seller had gotten it at some computer auction. It is complete except had no ram and the hdd was changed to a smaller 40gb one. I got it for $10 and after inserting some spare ram I had I maxed it out at 2gb. It's running Leopard and is being updated now.

Ooh, nice. I am in Dallas right now (airport terminal) and I am practically drooling over craigslist, too bad I don't have more time here, but I can come back since I have relatives :D.

Yeah great find, only issue is when I boot it up the cinema display I have has a black screen, it only works when I unplug the powerblock from the display. I'll try another screen with adc soon.

Spoke too soon, tried it again and simply took longer then expected.

I just moved my iMac into the spare bedroom and put it on a fold away table I had. It's a lot easier to work with. I'm doing a reinstall of Leopard since I had Tiger on it. I don't really have plans for it aside from some casual gaming. Any kind of media work seems to be way more efficient on my MBP.

Going through the setup screens makes me wish I had a .mac email address. :(. One of my regrets in life.

Well, if you have an iCloud email address, you can still use @me addresses (e.g. I signed up for iCloud during the iOS 5 betas (dev) and my address is keaton.burleson@icloud.com and keaton.burleson@me.com (which looks awesome BTW).

Found a guy in my area selling a power mac g5 he just wanted to get rid of. Already have one but thought I'd make an offer anyways. $10 and I am the new owner of a dual processor 2.0 g5 with a 256mb video card which also has Bluetooth. Switched the ram from my dual 1.8 g5 and took the airport card and installed it also. Going to probably sell my 1.8 as I don't see why if possible need 2.

Woah, thats pretty awesome. Thats basically mine, except yours was $10 more, haha.

Thanks! I'm happy. My 1.8 was free so I think I will make a few bucks out of the upgrade also ;)

I thought it'd be a sweet idea to make a thread for people who use this subforum to post their setups as there isn't one as of now. Happy posting!

Couldn't manage to attach a picture from my ol' Mac. (forum n00b) Can you help, please? I wonder if my 12 iMac G3s can be considered a PPC set-up, even if they are on the ground. xD They will have tables soon :)

Tables or no tables, post them! :)

When you're creating a new post, scroll down a bit until you see Attach Files and then use the menu to upload them.

I tried taking pictures I had on my desktop but they wouldn't attach. BTW, tonight Ima buy Ikea coffee tables to make a long L-shaped table. I will put my 12 iMac G3s there and some other computers in other areas of the room. Found a glass (jewelry?) display case at the thrift store for $30 and may get one out of the set to display some of my rare items. I will wait until I have things set up and then try posting pictures! :) God... I have too many iMac G3s

What happened? Did you get an error of sorts? My guess is that the file size exceeded the upload limit. Try reducing the size and see what happens.

I tried to do it again and I think it worked. (I didn't go ahead and click 'post') I will get it figured out once I have my computers set up. Going to Ikea tonight and can't wait! I have 73 computers, but I may not display the old Windows PC towers for good reason. (not that they aren't PPC Macs/Macs, but that they aren't worthy of putting out on display)

Just a comment here on the image uploading. Your images should be either JPG or PNG. If it's anything else, the uploader may balk at it or it may just show as a downloadable attachment instead of an actual attache image with a thumbnail.

My PowerPC machines/set-up

This is the ultimate PowerPC set-up. I am in the midst of partly dedicating a room to displaying my Mac collection, and putting some Windows PCs in the corner maybe. Right now I have all my iMac G3s set up (with a duplicate left out), and I am working on the rest. I still need to clear other stuff to fit a table for my pro PowerPC Macs. However, I took pictures of all of them to show you, even the ones that are on the ground for now. I spent forever assembling five Ikea coffee tables, and have dedicated four of them to housing my iMac G3s... Major sagging of these tables is expected...:( I put a rotating/colorful LED light bulb in a lamp and have that sitting in the corner behind the G3s. I will put bright strip lighting behind them as well. So I have 12 iMac G3s, three 1990s PowerMacs, a PowerMac G3 B&W, a PowerMac G4, PowerMac G4 Cube x2, a PowerMac G4 Quicksilver+monitor in the box, and a PowerMac G4 MDD. I also have an iMac G4. I have several PPC laptops sitting below the surface of the G3 tables. I couldn't fit the pictures of my iMac G4, Cube, and 90s Macs. SORRY. Thanks for looking!

What a large collection of iMac G3s. Hope everyone who lives there understands your obsession with them. Maybe I should convert the basement to all Macs.

Just added LED strip lighting behind all over them and it looks great. I will maybe have an updated photo. As to your comment about a basement convert, that would be nice. It's great to have your own display set-up and be creative with it. It's lots of work and some planning though. These Ikea 'Lack' coffee tables worked nicely. $40 each but there was a sale for us members and they were $25 each; we have hundreds in Ikea credits. They are 2 by 4 feet and lots of arm strength to invest in.

How much is your electric bill and how did you plug all these in?
