Just installed SL on my 3 year old mbp, everything works fine except for my at&t Quicksilver usb 3g modem. Not Apples fault I guess, just have to wait for Option to update their driver.

To update my last post, I was able to get the 3G card working again. Quickbooks Pro 2007 is just plain broken now.

my ZTE MF627 USB 3G HSDPA modem installer fails to detect the modem and install the drivers i did remove the app. and install it again but it won't recognize the usb anymore . :(

Items don't appear in trash on dock

I just noticed that when I delete a file with cmd + backspace or drag it into the trash, the file disappears, but doesn't seem to appear in the trash on the dock. When I then rightclick the trash icon 'empty trash' is disabled. But when I left click the icon the just deleted items do appear. I am able to delete the items from there.

Weird, maybe it's not per se Snow Leopard related, I start noticing this after the iTunes 9 update from yesterday.

The only problem I had was with Mail. It wouldn't let me upload to Hughesnet. After removing all my keychain links and reinstalling them everything in Mail is fine, so far. FireFox has a new update, as well as GarageSale for ebay sales. You should check your printer vendor for additional updates for drivers, Kodak had a new one I needed to install (for 10.5+). All is running fine except printing seems a little slow at times, maybe the new update(10.6.1) will fix this.
Happy with SL and now booting into 64bit Kernel.

Since installing SL, I have noticed that when either using Firefox or Safari, it's taking about 8-10 seconds to load a page in the browsers now. It's like freaking Dialup speeds! Can't figure it out... Using the fastest internet (Roadrunner Turbo Plus) and it's slow? Geez... When I was running Leopard all my pages loaded almost instantly, now it's a web crawl. I'm afraid I'll have to resort to using Time Machine and setting my Mac back to Leopard. Apple has never let me down until now...:(
I agree that Safari is slow, but it's not so much that pages load slowly. Once it's "warm", everything runs swiftly. But getting to that point takes a

long time. Launching Safari 4 the first time after a system restart is like booting into an old deteriorated installation of Windows. You can't do squat for at least a minute, it keeps beachballing on and off... custom URL icons are not displayed, only the default blue blobs... any attempt to go to a page at this stage will either leave you with a blank white screen while all manner of 'please wait' graphics (beachball, load progress etc) lights up like a christmas tree, or load the page extremely slowly (one by one the gifs and jpgs fall into place). Then after what seems like eternity the pipe is suddenly unclogged and everything runs swiftly again. It may be "the world's fastest browser" but this certainly doesn't apply to the launch time.

Snow Leopard unstable

FF and Safari crash constantly during file uploads (i.e simple images to Facebook). Other programs become depressingly slow or crash or bluescreen.

SL reminds me of Windows 3.1. I want my $30 back.

garageband

Garageband won't start since the upgrade but that might be because SL isn't too friendly with audio plug-ins at the moment...i'm still trying to figure this out though

MKV in 10.6.1

Seem that the problem is solved?
Yesterday night I tested only a bit...
somebody can confirm me if really the patch 10.6.1 solve the MKV problem with snow leopard(stuttered even with vlc or Plex in 10.6.0)

Crashes, takes forver to stop, Safari

I have a MacPro Quad-Core Intel Xeon experiencing these problems

OS occasionally just quits and re-starts for no apparent reason
Takes forever to stop, much longer than Windows ever did, blue screen
Yesterday I unplugged the system to force stop and it took 15 minutes and several self re-boots to start
Safari performance so bad I switched to Firefox, which works great

Boolean smart folders that include a set period (i.e. ( Last opened date ) is (within last ) [ 30 ] ( days )) are not automatically updated.

The content of this smart folder therefore reflects the content on its day of creation, but not on system date.

Major bug imho

Here are the flaws that I've noticed since installing last night:

The only problems I've noticed so far are:
  • Spaces won't activate with its assigned keyboard shortcut (F6). It's pretty annoying, as I use it constantly. Check out this thread for details. So far, no on has offered any solutions.
  • My Airport Radar widget doesn't work anymore. It's telling me to "Please install AirPort Radar in your Widgets folder and reload". It's already installed in my Widgets folder.
  • When selecting a Top Site, I get this weird transition screen while the page loads. The pattern is always different (I guess depending on the loading page).

My only problem:

I cannot backup with time machine, I have a WD 320 GB Passport FW 800 drive. I get to maybe 5 GB of the initial backup and it always ejects unexpectently. I've installed the drivers from WD's site to no avail.

Any tips?

I have your first problem, but only on my Macbook's keyboard. It works fine when using my BT keyboard. Very odd.

I've upgraded to 10.6.1 but I still have slowdowns with spaces, especially when I change from an app to another in a different desktop and the temporary solution with Quartz Debug is annoying at the same time :(

Anyone have this problem?

That is odd.

I wish I could (or someone could) figure out a solution to that one. Of the 3 problems, that is the one that affects me the most.

It's such a strange, random issue, eh?

they broke the 'login items on certain spaces' workaround from leopard.

so far sl's been great for me. there's one thing i haven't figured out how to deal with yet.

i've got 10ish apps that fire from my Login Items. some of them are set to specific spaces, some not (esp Finder w/ previous windows). The problem is that when the apps start, Spaces insists on going to the space the app is starting on, even if the app is starting hidden. so, while it would be nice if you had all your 'whatever space' apps on space 1, and the others on their assigned spaces, instead, you end up with 'whatever space' apps on semi-random other spaces.

in 10.5, if you selected "Hide" in Login Items, Spaces was smart enough not to send you to 5 different spaces during login.

my best workaround is to feverishly hit 'ctrl+1' until all login items are loaded. it doesn't work perfectly, in addition to sucking.

it's pretty unfortunate, as being able to use spaces + login items to set up one's "usual background tasks" had been a really nice feature.

I also have the same issue on my 1st gen MacBook Pro with X1600 ATI graphics. Not a problem so far.

Corrupt Fonts

I had a few issues after installing Snow Leopard. It turns out that if you have any corrupt fonts many application will crash for no apparent reason. After checking all my font and deleting the bad ones, everything worked great.

Check you fonts!

Ok, I didn't read through the whole thread...

But the issue, I'm having is with Screen Share. When i go through finder and click on Share Screen it prompts me for a username/password. I enter that and it comes back as invalid. It will eventually work, but never on the 1-4th try (and yes I'm entering the write password).

The other issue I'm having is when it finally does connect - it is no longer supporting my dual monitors (the screen is just greyed out). I have to go up to view and select one monitor at a time.

I use to use this function all the time and it's frustrating it isn't working.

FYI: I have both a MBP and Mini (dual monitors) both with fresh installs.

Any help?
