ryannazaretian,

Did you hack the system so it could use the built-in NTFS write code?

Edit: I see that you did. That would explain the kernel panic. You should apologize to Snow Leopard! ;)

I use a Logitech MX518 mouse, I have mouse button 4 set to Show all Windows (exposé F9) and mouse button 5 set to show desktop (exposé F11).

Twice now button 5 has stopped functioning. I don't believe it is the mouse at fault as it is working fine in Leopard.

Hopefully an update will correct this, either that or I will wait for a new version of USBOverdrive.

Anyone else experience something similar?

Yep i get this.

Sometimes works but most the time doesnt. Grumpy or what! lol:rolleyes:

After the start, my menu bar was invisible until I launched any program.

Several times "five languages screen". I suspect the usb external hard drive caused it.

In conclusion, I'm using my macbook pro with extreme caution now to avoid another kernal panic.

I concur.

Hey now... I still want to kick that cat.

My Mail app hasn't worked correctly since I installed SL (Using Gmail and my schools POP3 account). Mail will randomly freeze when I'm typing in an address and will sometimes just hang while sending a message.

Safari kept beachballing this morning, needing a force quit.

My screen will randomly flash on and off for no reason at all.

Navigating through stacks is slow to load. It should be instant, but it takes 3 seconds to pop up from one folder (Applications) to a new folder (Application\Utilities).

Boot time is just as slow. I kind of expected it to have a few seconds shaved off.

Weather Widget takes about 2 minutes to load the weather.

Application incompatibilities (MATLab, Mathematica just to name my school applications).

Battery life was cut by an hour.

Almost seems like a downgrade for me. Not a true Apple Experience.

Only a few minor things

1. Airport will cut out for about 10 minutes at a time, I have read other users have had the same problem
2. Safari seems to crash sometimes, but not that big of a deal because I can just re-open all the windows I had open prior to the crash (History > Reopen all windows from last session)
3. Expose doesn't seem as snappy, when I choose to activate expose with my side mouse button, it doesn't work fluidly, it does nothing at first, then 1 second later it appears where it normally would - no smooth transition
4. Mail has crashed a few times, and half the time I have to re-type most of it because the drafts doesn't work as quickly as I type

really, thats just about it, everything (everything) works great. And developers are updating their programs that worked for leopard and not snow leopard (Shades is a great example, I used that all the time - and just got updated to work with SL)

If my answer can be of any further help, I did do a clean install then restored my backup from time machine.

Seems that everytime I insert a blank CD or even an install disc, I have to restart SL just so that it shows up in the finder.

Edit: I can't eject the disc the first time round either as the option is greyed out.

Screen saver still AWOL

;) Having had some more time to reflect, and live with Snow Leopard, I can report that the screen saver is as dysfunctional as ever. It will not come on automatically as set, and if done manually will not remain for more than about 5 seconds. It seems to work if every application is closed, just the finder present, but that is hardly helpful.

Other various, if relatively minor, glitches remain as well.

I am seriously contemplating returning the former OS until Apple deigns to fix Snow Leopard. My suggestion to anyone considering an upgrade to Snow Leopard is to wait; if all else works for you, why subject yourself to such possible aggravation?

reformat and clean install just 2 days ago on a late 2008 15" mbp:

-expose 4 finger swipes were unusable. deselecting all trackpad options, reboot, reselect seems to have helped this though.

-trackpad has become unresponsive to clicks on several occasions. responsiveness returns after a minute or two.

-wifi internet connection dies occasionally. other devices on the same network are unaffected. will return after a logout/login.

-less a bug and more a gripe: quicktime controls can't be dragged outside of player window. really dumb for if you're playing something on a secondary monitor.

Sorry, only skimmed the last few pages but...

I can't connect to my password protected wireless network anymore (neither WEP or WPA). Now I have to turn that off of my router and strictly rely on MAC address filtering for security.

10.6.1, BT keyboard drops every 2-3 minutes

I get a an issue with my Apple Bluetooth keyboard not re-connecting after I wake my iMac.... it just won't connect ..

I have to manually to go the BT icon in the top right and select my keyboard and select "Connect" PITA!

I've deleted my keyboard from the BT list of devices and re-added it, but it still won't re-connect on wake.

I did an upgrade from 10.5.8 to 10.6 btw.

+1. I'm at 10.6.1, upgraded from 10.5.8, and my iMac with BT keyboard drops every 2-3 minutes , so frickin annoying!
The keyboard "ghost image" saying "connection lost" pops up for 5-7 seconds, I've tried to have grab open to snapshot it but them it goes away, and keyboard is re-connected.

Battery is at 75%, so that's not the issue.

I hope 10.6.2 fixes this, a pet peeve.
[Edit] Captured snapshot!

Hopefully this hasn't been posted. I searched the thread and manually skimmed it and didn't see anything.

Cmd + Shift + 4 works great and creates the file of my screen capture on my desktop, but I use Cmd + Ctrl + Shift + 4 all the time to copy something to my clipboard and paste it into an email or something else I'm working on, and it no longer works. I hate having to take the extra steps of pulling the file into my email and then deleting it when I'm done.

When I press all the short cut keys, it invokes the crosshairs and allows me to make a selection. It even makes the little camera noise after I'm done selecting, but when I try to paste the selection nothing happens. Any ideas?

For those that have had this problem -- did it ever get solved? I don't see a reference to it after pg 12 or so. I'm having the exact same issue (upgraded, didn't reinstall). The only workaround I have is that the image will paste into Macjournal and then I can cut and paste from there...

The only thing that I can remember is that I probably changed the default setting with Onyx under Leopard. I've tried moving the screencapture.plist file out of the way and that didn't seem to help... Any other ideas?

Snow leopard will occasionally not load my buddylist in Adium. Snow Leopard won't allow me to use Safari to send for help, either.

And just this week, Snow Leopard kicked my puppy and vandalized my mailbox.

USPS Click'N Ship Broken with Snow Leopard

The only flaw I've found so far is the Adobe Reader plugin for Safari doesn't print shipping labels in Snow Leopard.

This happens on a Leopard to Snow Leopard Upgrade on my Mac Pro 1.1 and on a clean install on my Mini.

Installing an older version of Reader was no help.

No big deal, as I just printed it from Windows on Boot Camp.

Sooner or later Adobe will get Reader happy in SL .

The MP1.1 seems to run the same and the Mini seems a bit faster with Snow Leopard.

Have Fun,
Keri

PS. I just noticed!
Snow Leopard ate all my cookies and half of the pumpkin pie!

You probably don't care but I just want to clarify that this is not a widespread issue, I do not have this issue with my SL Macs. Command Shift Contrl 4 copies to my clipboard and I can paste perfectly into Pages, TextEdit and MS Word.

I have one issue with Snow which came to light today.

Unfortunately for me it is a showstopper for now.

There is an issue with OpenGL games such as Second Life (not just SL) and the graphics drivers included with Snow for the NVidia 9400M.

It is a shame because apart from that I totally get on with Snow and consider it a better Leopard.

For now I have re-installed 10.5.8 on one of my MacBooks (my OH doesn't run OpenGL games so one of the MBs can still run Snow). When there is an Update, I will then test on that computer and make my upgrade decision again afterwards.

EDIT: Both MBs had a clean install of Snow...

I switched when the unibody macbook came out... I loved it..

With snow leopard, apples credibility went right with microsoft. Indeed, micorsoft is doing a better job at fixing their mess at this time.

I have installed windows 7 on a fed up PC, the chrome browswer takes a milisecond to open up. Safari takes a lot more. Hangs alot. Takes a half a GB of my expensive memory..What is this?

This update was a mistake. My office applicaitons open up way slower than before

I just discovered this bug this morning on my MB, and then replicated it on my iMac:

If you have Boot Camp set up, but then delete the Boot Camp partition so the only startup option is OS X, the Boot Camp partition does not reset OS X as the default. Therefore, there is a grey screen for around a minute before the Apple logo appears, seemingly while the computer searches for other boot options which no longer exist. This can be remedied by choosing the Startup Disk in System Prefs, but for a novice user this might go unfixed forever. Could become frustrating.

Here ar my issues:
Spotlight works but when using spotlight in Word to search for and open a document and in Mail when searching for an attachment and attaching it. This is clearly not a Microsoft issue.

Just noticed by accident last night that my iSight no longer works. The green light comes on but no picture. I almost never use it so it took me a while to notice.
This is on the most recent Macbook Pro unibody I bought in July.

Umm is that a bug?

How did you delete the partition? Disk Utility or Boot Camp Assistant?

Snow leopard destroys iPhotos

Forgive me if this has been or is being discussed elsewhere, I just can't find any mention of the problem being discussed on other Mac forums about new installation of SL wiping out your iPhoto library, I recently had to wipe my No1 drive, so I backed up to my No 2 using Time Machine, when I reversed the backup, all my pictures were gone from iPhoto, a few pictures were there that I had deleted months ago, also missing was my Canon software which I have since tried to reload but my Mac keeps telling me that the software is still there, the problem is that I can't find either the Canon stuff or my pictures. meanwhile under 'Images' and 'Documents' I have thousands of both, many duplicated up to six times, I guess my iPhotos could be amongst them but it could be a years work to dig them all out of this mess.
