This is supposed to be the new entry-level iPhone. Not surprised at all that it would start at 16 GB. Would be shocked if they don't bump the 7 to 32GB though.

Apple can barely keep the lights on so they need us all to pay up if we want more than 16gb of storage. I've got to be honest its really getting old Apple. Quite gouging your customers or they will move to other devices.

Live photos and no 3D Touch, seems odd. The best part of Live Photos (for me) is the 3D touch integration with a Live Photo on the lock screen. Looking forward to Monday.

I am with most people here probably, and think 16GB is too low to use the thing 'properly' (i.e. a moderate number of potential uses of the functionality the phone has available including apps, photos, videos etc).

However I think a twitter poll (as mentioned in the article) is likely to be skewed towards the more tech-friendly user, and some people, the ones possibly less likely to be using twitter, really will be fine with a cheaper, low-capacity phone if they take photos/videos very rarely and don't bother with many apps at all. It may seem bizarre to most of us, but I can see how making a 16GB model makes sense for Apple, and for some users. As long as it isn't *only* a 16GB model! So I think the quoted 2 percent is likely on the low side as a reflection of how many people would actually be ok with a 16GB iPhone.

Before the iPhone came out I think many of us just wanted a phone that would sync and play nicely with OS X, because what came before was often a kludgey mess of applications, iSync and some features that sometimes worked and sometimes didn't and then would break when OS X got updated... it's easy to forget what that was like now we've been spoiled by years of iPhones.

Still, I still agree with those saying starting at a 16GB minimum capacity is kind of silly in 2016. I'm sure the cost difference between 16GB and 32GB (or even 64GB) is extremely small for Apple, even more so relative to how much more useful it makes the device for the user, regardless of how much the cloud is involved or not.

What's funny is the 128 which I have is too much storage for my needs but 32 is too little. So if they do this deliberately-odd-storage-for-upsell nonsense on the 7 that'll be frustrating. They should sell the 7 in 64 GB or 128 GB.

If they choose to sell at 256 GB iPhone they're welcome to.

I'm right there with you. Had a 128 6+, that I just couldn't use but a fraction of available memory. Gave it to one of my kids when I got a 64 GB 6s+ and I'm still just using half - so 64 seems to be a sweet spot for me, leaving me with enough growth space.

This phone is mid range anyway. Not like I was buying it to replace my 6S.
Now if the iPhone 7 starts with 16GB expect fire and brimstone.

I actually like the iPad Pro options, 32, 128 and 128+LTE. Maybe toss in a 256 option but it's fine as it is. Apple certainly needs to clean up their product line up, ipad Mini 2, iPad Mini 4, ipad Air, Ipad Air2, Ipad pro all with and without LTE/3G and various memory sizes. Geez. Looking back at the times where we had only had 1 model.

There was never just one model. Or maybe are you refering to the iphone 2G 4GB?

Apple should definitely release an iPhone 5s (revised), most people they just want the freaking NFC in their phones so they can use Apple Pay! NFC doesn't cost more than $2

my wife has an 8gb iphone 5C...what a pain in the butt that thing is we are constantly having to try to find things to delete. Who knew Facebook, snapchat and instagram all end up taking like 500 megatbyes of space somehow on the phone and you only start with around 4.7gb free after the OS is installed. What an abomination that thing is and its only maybe 2 years old. They should never have been selling 8gb 5Cs

That's almost exactly what this phone will be. Leaks indicate it will be similar body style to the 5s, but with NFC, newest chip, and possibly 2gb RAM.

I will most likely get the 16GB version of this. I have the 16GB iPhone 6 and i have my entire music library on there, 1600 photos, over 100 apps and still have around 1GB free. Its called iTunes Match/Music + iCloud Drive. I have 20GB a month data allowance and good 4G coverage almost everywhere i go.

I went silly with the 128GB iPad Air and it still has 100+ GB free.

I could understand people getting upset if 16GB was the only option, but if you need more space they offer bigger capacity, and if you have everything in the cloud like me with decent data coverage 16GB is overkill.

Apple knows that offering 32 gb would kill any possible upgrades to 64 gb. There's a sweet spot of users where 32 gb would be ideal. Those users (like myself) are often forced to upgrade to 64 gb. It's not a bad business strategy; we've seen it with computers and other things. Just annoying.

What are you guys doing with your phones? After 2 years of usage I've used up 10,8GB of storage on my phone. Noone here uses cloud services?
