In September, Apple said that it would be launching Powerbeats Pro 2 in 2025, and it appears the wireless earbuds are coming very soon.

In his Power On newsletter today, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman said the Powerbeats Pro 2 are "due imminently." In addition to Apple filing the Powerbeats Pro 2 in regulatory databases last month, Gurman said Apple is planning to hold product briefings with the media "in a week or so" to go over the new features of the wireless earbuds.

Powerbeats Pro are a sportier, fitness-focused alternative to AirPods Pro with built-in, adjustable ear hooks for a secure fit. Apple's teaser video last year showed MLB star Shohei Ohtani wearing the Powerbeats Pro 2, revealing a more vertical, slimmer design compared to the original Powerbeats Pro, which are now discontinued.

We previously reported that the Powerbeats Pro 2 will offer heart rate monitoring during workouts. Based on our iOS 18 code findings, you will be able to connect the Powerbeats Pro 2 to gym equipment like a treadmill to measure heart rate, and the data will be visible in the Health app and other supported apps on the iPhone.

We also confirmed that Powerbeats Pro 2 will support Active Noise Cancellation, Spatial Audio, and Adaptive Audio. The earbuds and charging case will be available in Jet Black, Quick Sand, Electric Orange, and Hyper Purple, and the case should have a USB-C port.

Based on other recent Beats headphones, other potential upgrades for the Powerbeats Pro 2 include improved sound quality, longer battery life, and improved cross-platform compatibility with Android features like Find My Device.

I had the originals and liked them a lot, but had the classic charging issues. So I bought the AirPods Pro recently for Black Friday. They’re great, but I miss features of the Beats like the ear hook for workouts; the APPs threaten to fall out when I get sweaty. Also the volume rocker switch is functionally superior to the APP.

These sound like they’re more advanced than the APPs. I’ll be tempted to buy. One thing I’ve learned is it’s best practice to have more than one set of ear buds around for travel and workouts. I’ve had multiple sets fail on me.

It will be nice to have Pro type features in these headphones, they have great potential. The charging issues on the 1st gens were lawsuit worthy. I'll wait six months and to make sure they fixed the charging issues also the issue with only one turning on when applying. No doubt that product was pushed out prior to appropriate Q&A testing. I know this from owning three pairs and having the same issues with all three.

Really liking the electric orange. I have never owned a pair of the in ear Beats headphones. The updates are impressive, this maybe the time to try a pair, especially since my Apple earbuds have a tendency to fall out of my ears. Lost one to a bucket of paint while painting a fence gate. Unfortunately it was a brand new Oro 2 model.

I got these ear hooks. They work great.

My only wish is: a full ten hours of battery life.

The Powerbeats Version 01 are alone on the market.
All manufacturers advertise massive runtimes, from 30 to 40 to 60 hours. But only in connection with the case.
With the Powerbeats, I was able to plug in one headphone at 6 a.m. and at 4 p.m. the headphone still had some time left on it, despite several hours of music.

I want that again

Looking forward to these, I had the originals but like many had the left bud charging/dying issues. I took a step back and bought a set of original PowerBeats with the cable. I like the ear hooks for running. I tried APP2 but always having to fiddle with them while running gets annoying. I was going to try the aftermarket hooks but decided a dedicated set for running was the better option. It will be interesting to see how the heart rate monitor works. I’m currently having issues with my AWU1 reading heart rate while running.

Eagerly awaiting these. I’m a little concerned they may price them above the AirPods Pro 2 at $299….
While I would like wireless charging for the case, I’d prefer a smaller case that is more pocketable.

It will depends on price.

My AirPod Pro 2 is slowly dying and the left one often doesn't charge properly, so I need a replacement soon.

I’m a big fan of the current (well, now discontinued) Powerbeats Pro despite the charging issues, so I really want these… here’s hoping they’re sub-$200, but with all the new features rumored I’m not hopeful.

At least my current pair are still working well, so I can wait until they’re discounted.

Excellent. I have cash in my Apple account burning a whole in my wallet app just waiting for these. The purple and orange both look great. Honestly even if these have the same 9 hour battery life but add wireless charging to the case I’ll be happy.

I guess Mark Gurman and I have different definitions of “imminently”. In recent history, Beats typically provides reviewers access to new products about a week before they’re announced under NDA so they can drop their reviews the moment the product is announced.

Since Beats releases products on Thursdays, that means we’re still at least 2 and half weeks away from the release date.

My money is on Thursday, February 6th or Thursday, February 13th as the most likely release dates.
