I have a charging issue of the left earpiece of my powerbeats pro!! I tried resetting, restarting my phone, repairing and pairing the Bluetooth!! I plug the left earpiece in the case but no light indicating that it’s charging and if it happens to show up it only charges when the case is open!! The powerbeatspro sound quality is awesome but this charging issue is ruining everything!! Anybody willing to help, please don’t hesitate!!

I've been dealing with this since day one. The best practice is to have your phone sitting next to the case. add the battery Widget on the home screen. You will see powerbeats Left , powerbeats Right and Powerbeats case. Whichever one is charging will have the lightning bolt. mine is usually the right side that doesn't charge. Remove the one that is not charging and replace it a few times until yousee the lightning bolt. Then slowly close the case and it should change to Power Beats with the lightning bolt.

Yes! Mine haven't charged until I open the case, but, unlike others, I FEEL the left one making a connection. Sometimes, when it shows on the iPhone, the left will flash on and off. I can rarely, now, get the case to show up on my iPhone. I've tried resetting, etc, and no dice.

I think it's the darn case, because I have the Beatsx, and they, which is rather irritating, popup all the time on any iDevice near them. The PowerBeats Pro case *used* to do that, and doesn't any longer.

I've got the return box from Apple, and am going to send them a message saying I'm returning the case, as I think it has to be the case. They charge, but the case is largely silent, and refuses to 'talk' to anything now. Darn thing...

I have the 'BATTERIES' widget, and it never shows the pods, or case, separately. I get a rather useless aggregate battery level. Now that the case won't even talk to my iPhone, I don't even get the display showing the charge on anything any longer. I was going to see if LightBlue could see the case, but I've been at the end of tolerance for games. I can't get Apple Care because it wasn't even sold when I bought them, and now they play the BS game with charging, and hiding on my. The Beatsx's work at least... I can check into the Airpod Pros I guess. Once I get a 'reliable' fix for these Powerbeats, they are going on ebay. Over them... (And they worked so darn well (when they worked). Dangit!)

Widget should look like this, as you can see my left one isn’t charging, but usually after removing and replacing a few times it will start charging

So, the first image was what I got initially. The second I got after holding the button down on the case, and waiting for it to appear.

So, the widget works, operator error, but now the right one isn't charging. It didn't show up at all, the right one, but after leaving the case open, it's showing that it is charging. Damn thing...

And yet the Beatsx just shows up, every time. GRRRR...

I'm not sure if our issues are the same but I will say this, my right earpiece also felt as though it clicked securely in place (inside the case) but for some reason it didn't always make proper contact with the charging prongs - which is why I suspected it might be the magnets but that was just a guess. Not only did the right side not charge but it also stayed connected via BT to my phone - which drained its battery.

The left earpiece never had this problem. It could be the contacts themselves on either my right earpiece or the right case pod that's the issue.

I've now gotten into the habit of placing the right one first into the case, making sure the light comes on and also to check after I close the case to see if the BT connection isn't live. Doing this is a nuisance but I can live with it, and it seems to have fixed my issue. FWIW I had the APP before and ended up returning them as the silicon tips (no matter the size) kept slipping out during workouts, the PBPs never do. Also I much prefer the sound quality of the PBPs over the APP.

Good luck.

This is what I noticed. I just sent mine in last week. It is my left bud. I've had these since launch and have no idea why they suddenly wanted to start acting up like this.

So the plot thickens.

I had the whole kit plugged in all day yesterday. (I did have the lid open) I go to use them, and no connection (again), so I 'forget' them, and through some coaxing, I got them to connect, and checked the Batteries widget, and... AND... The case is at 17%. The right one is at 1%, and the left one is at 12%. :oops:Come again? What have you been doing ALL DAY?

So, I just give up, and grab the x's. I check the PBP's later, after leaving them sit without being plugged in, and the case is at 94%(!), and only the right one shows at 6%, and it's supposedly charging. So I leave them sitting for a few minutes (4) and the left one shows up at 20%, the right at 38%, and the case at 92%. Hmm... 56 minutes later, the left one is at 97%, the right at 22%, and the case at 70%.

I checked for a Bluetooth connection, and they were not connected at all his whole time except when I was checking them out with the widget. They disappear out of Bluetooth on their own within minutes.

I sit now looking at the box Apple sent me, and am thinking of sending just the case to them and see what they say. I tried to add notes to the supposedly open case on these, and apparently that can't be done online. *shrug*

So, psycho case, or just chuck the whole mess in the box and see what I get back. I hate the idea of getting refurbed stuff back, but what can I do. I think even the Apple Store would swap for refurbed...

I hope I can keep the x's going. Apple Care wasn't available for them when I them either.

(Looking at the Bose SoundSport Free😕)

Now, post updates on the iPhone, etc, the volume buttons don't work. *sigh* But everything was at or near 100% this morning, but the right one had an AirPod Pro avatar in Batteries... Odd... I give up.

Are those UnderArmour on-ear headphones any good?

My support incident was cancelled. I was about to ship the whole mess to Apple that day.

They work for days, and then trip out, and then work for a week, and then trips out for days.

I bought a new pair, with AppleCare, and will see how different they are. (Some locals reported the 'new ones' are better somehow) I was wondering if my copious sweating might have swamped them, causing problems. I've swamped BackBeat's, and a 'sweat resistant' pair of UR's, and those 'UR' things that aren't sold any longer *shrug*. (The first person that tells me AirPod Pro's are 1,000% better gets a bag of week old bagels:p)

So disappointed, and yet, so hopeful. I hope these work, but at least I can return these, maybe...

Cheers...

Mine have gone haywire recently too. I went to use them yesterday to find the left bud down to about 17% (right bud 100%). I placed them in the case after using them and checked my phone to make sure they both showed as charging. Today I have checked the status and the left bud is at 12% and the right at 100%. The case has also dropped a decent amount too (possibly just initially charging the left bud).

Sometimes when I check the battery status on my phone I can see the left bud is connected but the right bud and case don't appear.

Yeah, I've had so many things going sideways. My Beatsx just work. I charge them, they don't try to connect. I turn them on, and they connect like *now*, and things just work. The Pro's are definitely on my list of crap people shouldn't buy, HOWEVER the new pair do seem to work better. Yesterday, they were playing music when I put them in my ears, and my AW showed the littl bug that music was being played, and it never stopped showing that thing. I had to actually power it down and after restarting it, everything seemed okay.

I did have the new pair connect when I didn't want them to, but it's only happened once, so far.

The new ones seem to quite a bit more stable.

One thing, comparing the Beatsx to the Pro's is that the Beatsx' have n on/off switch, and the Pro's apparently are supposed to work on if they are being 'requested' to play music. I don't know of a way to 'turn them off', and that is probably a large part of the mess with them. That, and that much celebrated special chip might have a flaw in it. It doesn't seem to handle 'real life' very well. I know they have sensors in them. Are they being activated in the case? That would sort of make sense, because if they are not 'turned off', and the sensors say 'We are in someone's ear holes'. then the chip says 'CONNECT TO SOMETHING, QUICK!', and it connects to the iPhone it was used with (or whatever it's been used with that is in range) and then just sits there like an id10t waiting for a signal to play. If that's what's happening, there is a real lack of ANY engineering in the design and operation of them.

I guess I'd go with a batch of bad chips, rather than some really pathetic engineering. I mean, if they are interpreting insertion in the charging case as being installed in ear holes, then the things are just totally failing at being 'Pro' anything. Sad, if true.

ARG!!!:mad::mad: Now the new ones are tripping out. I grabbed them, stuck them in my ears, and nothing from the right one. I check the battery applet, and the right is at 0%, with the left at 100%.

REALLY!!!

Not this again! 😞🦖🦕💩

So I plugged them in, and will see where they are RSN. 🤞

Do any of you experience finding only one of your earphones charging? I often find myself putting these on and when I’m about to workout only one is working and I check the battery only one is fully charged.

I don’t think this is an isolated incident because I have two sets of Powerbeats Pro and both do this. I feel like I seat them in properly but they don’t always charge simultaneously even if I really press them in.

I had this same issue with the right one, and it turned out I wasn't pushing the headphone down hard enough so that the red light came on to signal it was charging.

Mine will glow white briefly, not red. But yeah I do the same now and also check iPhone Bluetooth settings to confirm they’re disconnected.

A nuisance but so far this has solved the issue for me.

So, I put both on charging cables. I also 'forgot' one pair from every thing that they were paired to.

One pair was dead, still, and the other pair was at 100%. BOTH of them, and the case too!

Guess which ones were raring to go? So, you can't pair the dang things to more than one 'source', or they will connect at random, IN THE CASE, and kill themselves. Nice...

Great product, stupidly engineered and executed.

I've been having issues with Powerbeats Pro since day 1. I purchased my set about 2 months after launch and I purchased a second set about two weeks later for my fiancé.

My initial issues were getting the Powerbeats Pro to connect to my phone (iPhone XS Max) every time I put one in my ear, unlike my trusty Airpods, which always connect as soon as they go in an ear. In order to get the Beats to work, I would have slowly open/close/open the clamshell near my phone and it would then popup the graphic/widget showing everything was connected. Only then they would the earbuds function properly. (This only worked for a few weeks)

My fiancés Powerbeats Pro had issues out of the Gate connecting to her iPhone (iPhone X). She would get the Beats to connect, but after a few minutes of wearing them, one or both would stop working and she'd have to put them in the case and reset the connection by holding the reset button on the case and start the pairing process all over again each time she wanted to use them. The annoying part is this always happens when she is in the middle of a workout or on a walk away from the case, so she either abandons the headphones till her workout is completed or she listens to the one ear that is playing music until she is done. Luckily for her, these are the extent of her issues.

My issues on the other hand have escalated. Many on here complain about the left earbud, but my issue is primarily the right earbud. I will have the case on my counter and I will push down on both earbuds and verify on the power widget that each are charging and very carefully close the lid. Next morning I go to use them and the right one is either dead or where I left it charging the night before, i.e. 16%. Sometimes I will see on the widget the power jump from 16%(Red) to 47%(Green) then back to 16%(Red). Other times I will see the power go down rather than up while it shows its charging, or one earbud will stop charging while the other one charges and swap back and forth.

Recently I couldn't get the earbuds to properly pair to my phone, which I never unpaired after last use, but this is the life of a Powerbeats Pro owner. I go thru the daily case reset unpairing/repairing ritual, sometimes followed by the forget device ritual, which the last time I did this resulted in the case not even registering on my phone as a pairable device waiting to be discovered/paired. (i.e. no connection app and no indication in Bluetooth settings) No matter what I did, my phone or other devices could see my Powerbeats Pro. The case indicated it was trying to pair according to the light on it, but nothing launched the connection app. (FYI, I baby the case and these headphones, so it's not an issue from damage.) To fix this issue, I had to plug the case into my computer and connect to the Beats website for firmware updates, just to be told the firmware was already up to date and no new updates were available. Somehow this process did reset something, because I was finally greeted with the pairing screen (Connection App) on my phone as soon as I opened the case.

The most annoying thing I've yet to see anyone talk about has to do with the headphones being paired, but then somehow briefly unpairing, resulting in an earbud randomly going from full power to dead. For example, both earbuds will show 100% on the home screen widget when the case is open and also on the power widget, as they should, because they will usually be charging for more than 6 hours between each use. I will simply pull one earbud out (sometimes left first, sometimes right first) and place it in an ear, which will quickly be followed with the dreaded dead battery tone, rather than the happy connection tone. At this point I will place the earbud back in the case to join it's other brother, which the widget will now show 0% battery or very low battery on that specific earbud. Whenever this happens I will also need to repair the device otherwise it won't properly connect the one earbud that is still charged and working. (I will usually just abandon using the earbuds until they are both fully charged.) In my opinion, this issue has to be a software glitch, which makes the chip in the earbuds think it doesn't have battery and it forces them to shutdown until the case fully charges them again, because it only happens to whatever earbud I take out of the case first. I've had where I will check to see if the earbuds are properly connected and playing music, then I will put them back into the case to verify they still have the power first indicated, then I will proceed to get them back out a few minutes later, only to have this same issue happen with the first earbud that is removed from the case instantly showing 0%.

I purchased this product, because it was suppose to be built on Apples magical chip architecture for connecting to my iPhone with ease and I wanted beats magical sound and for the fact these earbuds were designed to stay in your ear while you workout. I love my Airpods, because they always work as intended, but if I workout with them, they fall out or have to be adjusted every 10 steps I take. The Powerbeats Pro can't even remember the device they are paired with most of the time, which is the least of their issues. I have a cheap $12.00 knockoff version which is Bluetooth and they have yet to randomly power off, loose connection or even fail to pair as soon as they are powered on and they stay functioning thru an entire workout session. It's just sad that these headphones have soo many issues given the price and name behind them.

I don't plan on purchasing anything else from Beats and I hope Apple adopts the "stay in head, sweat resistant, workout style headphone" going forward for their Airpod product line, because unlike Powerbeats Pro, Airpods actually work as advertised.

I understand your issues. It sucks to have so many problems with an 'advanced tech' device.

On my second pair, I have had markedly fewer problems with them, but they are now only paired with one device. I had to go and remove them (forget) from every other device than my iPhone. So far, aside from a couple hiccups, they work well. My original ones are still a little funky, and I haven't spent a lot of time trying to resurrect them. I should, but the drama depresses me. I understand the burnt feeling of Beats products, but there are good products. I do like the Beatsx that I have, but I also have 'funky ears' and the buds don't stay in. (I have problems with most in-ear style buds)

I'd recommend forgetting them on all other devices that they are not being used on the most. Also look at the ear loops in the case, and see if they aren't over the junction between the ear insert and the body. I think that some of the issue I have had with the original set was the weird position of the loops, they were like that out of the box after I bought them and figured they 'liked' that position. I think that was contributing to the buds not charging as the loops keep repositioning the buds when the case was closed. It's harder than testing the fridge light though.

But since the dang things connect to anything at will, in case or not, it's problematic to control and keep them charged. I wonder if there is a way for Apple to fix this. One would think that they would know about the issue by now, and would 'fix' it with a firmware update. Is it possible that Apple doesn't know what's going on? Is it possible that it's not fixable. If the later is true, Apple needs to some off with some kind of reparations. They don't work like other Bluetooth ear buds, which was a sales statement, but now it's a noose.

If you call Apple for support, stay calm. They will drag you through a lot of unrelated things to do, but *should* eventually get you to a better place. Going to an Apple Store Genius Bar could end up easier and faster than dealing with Apple phone support.

Try what I've suggested. See if it makes them better, easier to live with. Good luck... I definitely feel your pain.

The case I had open with Apple Exec Relations is closed.

The result:

  • Use a microfiber cloth to wipe the inside of the case. They don't recommend using 'wet' wipes as the chances of getting moisture in the case was higher.
  • Press down the ear buds in the case to make sure they are connected.
  • Wipe the earbuds with a 'wet' wipe to make sure the contacts are clean.
The recommendation to press the ear buds down into the case was coupled with the comment that 'some times they don't make contact', to which I said 'why not make the pins longer'. The agent was shocked by my comment, and said they would refer my comment to their engineering department, to which I couldn't talk to (not surprisingly I guess).

So, if the earbud(s) don't make contact, they do not shutdown the full Bluetooth connect sequence. (They can stay connected, but it's not a 'full connection'. They are 'looking for a paired device nearby' that they may have to fully connect to, which the charging case 'fixed'. replenishing the small battery drain for that feature, which works well actually) That much I knew. We all kinda figured that out. But if the pins are 'just long enough', they aren't long enough. The case should be able to connect each ear bud to the pins in the right orientation, and if not, there is a problem with the fit of the ear buds in the case, or the pins aren't long enough.

So, that is the solution from Apple. User error. They need longer pins, but I'm trying to do better. It DID help to un-pair them with devices I occasionally use. So, wipe, wipe, push into place, hope they work. Longer pins won't be a user fix.

(Since the ear buds contacts are concave, it's very possible that the pins aren't able to make connection under certain conditions, yet all along, I would swear that they were in the case correctly, and yet they did not make solid a connection. *sigh*)

Oh, even though Apple sells AppleCare, and could allow me to buy (or even gift me) AppleCare for the first PBP's I originally bought, they stubbornly refused to even consider it. I got a firm absolutely not, no, we can't do that, stop asking. Even if I paid for it. Odd...

Hey, so it's been a while, and things were going well.

Until last night...

The Powerbeats Pro's were connected all night. In their case. Again...

I woke, and they were in the 30's. I took them out of the case, and tried to charge the case separately, and the buds got to the mid teens. They were still connected! So I popped them into the case, and they dropped, and then connected again! GRRR... I would disconnect them, and within a second of two, they would reconnect again. GRRR...

I could not get them to stay disconnected!!! GRRR... Apple is ignoring the request to reopen my case, figures...

So it's so pissing me off... GRRR...

The story continues...

Maybe I'm holding them wrong?

I had a massive amount of issues when I got mine, mostly not charging - sometimes saying they would, and then stopping midway, other times running down very quickly when in the case.

The thing which fixed it for me was alcohol wipes after a run to clean them. I started using them just to clean them anyway, get all the wax and sweat off of them. But I also started cleaning the contacts on the PBPs themselves and on the charging case every time. I've now had no problems in maybe 6 months.

May or may not help, but it was a huge change for me.

Thanks for that. Yes, I had gone quite a while with no issues, only to have them popup all of the sudden. They were working great. And so far, they have refused to disconnect and charge twice. They show up in the Battery widget, and in the Bluetooth setting. I disconnect them, to have them connect again.

The contacts are clean. They are seated in the case well. They are dry as well. It's weird how they will just trip out sometimes.

I've been using a microfiber cloth which seems to work well, until recently. I'll try the wipes. (I'm not as sure that the case is as liquid proof as it could be, and using alcohol wipes might backfire. (Just stating the obvious, always wring them out a little))

Maybe I'm holding them wrong?

I had the failing with dead battery too, but not as much. Yeah, it was a PITA, having the danged things dying minutes into a workout when they gave me the impression they were charged to a higher level than they actually were.

Yes, I bought them because of the original Air Pod experience. They just worked. Pull them out, insert them, and *boink* they were connected. (Although now, they run out of power really quickly for some reason)

I've been thinking that getting the Air Pod Pros is risky. I don't know if they will fit, for one, and if they will end up having the same issues I've had with the PBP's. I was considering the UnderArmour headphones, and might actually give them a longer look here soon... I just want these things to work. It's disappointing that they have such issues.

The alcohol wipes you should use are 70/30 alcohol. IPA (Isopropyl Alcohol) is completely fine to use on electronics. It's commonly used for that. Get some of those in tiny wipe form (many on eBay), and the case and earbuds will be fine. :)

When I wipe you can see it clean and then the alcohol burns off. For me, the contacts always looked clean, and always made that clicky noise when putting them in. But the alcohol wipes ensured they worked every time. And it keeps them clean.
