After the last event, I feel odd saying this, but why are they expecting updates on Wednesday? Is Apple going to observe Boss's or Alaska Day or something?

(Not calling you guys liars, just doesn't make sense to me why someone would care enough)
Actually, I thought about that just as I posted my reply!chubad said:Your avatar says Powerbooks Next Tuesday. Not NEW Powerbooks Next Tuesday!. Got 'ya on a technicality. No royalties for you!

Stick with the Powerbook you have Mike. Any upgrade will likely not be significant enough to justify the 10% restocking fee for minimal feature gain. Your present purchase will likely be very nice until the Macintels start shipping in late 2006 or early 2007. What would most of you do based on the thought that the update will come next week or soon after? Not knowing what the price for the updated PB's is what is holding me up.
To me the possible update, if the thinksecret stuff is right, may not be worth the restocking fee alone.
While I tend to agree, I think you may be oversimplifying it. Didn't they need to move to a new chipset to support DDR2 and PCIe on the new iMac? (not being an electrical engineer, I have no idea how easy/hard that transition would have been)Analog Kid said:I believe Jobs said that as soon as the last iMac was released a year ago, they started working on this one-- that's how I explain it. A year to shave the housing back, add a camera and write new drivers?

Someone found it and posted it in another thread yesterday and now the link is dead. The link yesterday indicated it used an X800 Graphics card, but the image next to it showed the 9700 logo amongst other minor errors. It was believeable for those who wanted to believe (including me).Shattering Fast said:But this dude didn't put it out there for people to see did he?
Not to go to far off topic, but FWIW, using 100% of your processors just indicates the processes you are running are making full use of the CPUs. If you ever see just one of your CPU meters at 100% and the other not (for more than a second or two) then you can be pretty sure that the application you are running is not well written as the OS wasn't able to spread it across them (unless, of course, you "told" it not to)D3LM3L said:Why do you guys want a Dual-Core PowerMac SO BADLY?? You think that Dual 2.7GHz isn't fast enough? I have a 2.7 G5 and it is SO FREAKING FAST that I am starting to think that Mac OS X isn't fully optimized to handle it's 100% speed! Sure, Quicktime uses the processors at 100% when exporting, but some things just don't change in terms of speed when I use my G5 and my PowerBook (meaning it's Mac OS X's fault). I could never ask for any more speed than this. It does EVERYTHING, and only gets better as you add more and more RAM (I'll have 4.5GB by next week).

D3LM3L said:The theme is called iT5 and it's for Shapeshifter. It's on InterfaceLIFT.
It's the first theme I've ever used (besides the Tiger mockup I made for Panther) that actually looks like Apple made it! It makes a unified OS.

Probably would have required too much editing of the images and HTML(?) required to fake the page, at least in time to get the hoped for impact.Shattering Fast said:Yeah exactly... who needs near perfect hoax webpages when you have avatars like that.
One strike against that webpage is that I would have thought they would put iSight in the top of the monitor like with iMac. Hmmm.. maybe not.

Whyren said:Hmm...along the lines of the iMac, it'd be interesting to see the Powerbook become a "remote" by broadcasting the FrontRow to the television or a new Apple Display specially made for this...ideally wirelessly.
Damn! That has GOT to be confusing at times.Mr Maui said:My Motto ... Always Believe EVERYTHING you Read!![]()
