Does this have selection areas for boosting contrast/sat/brightnees like Snapseed?

Accessible from the extension?

App description notes clearly that some features lile 'repair' require iPad 4.

They must have changed it since initial release.

Nice to read the article and the comments here.

I have an iPad2 and wondering about buying this for $5

I won't get to use all the fancy features but maybe if in a few months the price increases, I have it...though the price could decrease too I suppose.

But what about by the time i get a newer iPad (may not be this year) would a new version be out or will they likely just continue on this app and just revise it?

Like how some apps used "HD" as an upgrade to an app but made it a NEW app.

My Adobe subscription is up in January 2015. I'm switching to Pixelmator for all my photo needs.

Awesome. Thanks for the info Donka. So that's basically the way Photoshop works with Ap then? So, am I correct in saying that after you're done in Pixelmator you have to save the file and then import back into Ap?

I'll double check shortly but I'm sure as soon as you finish your edits in Pixelmator, you just close the image and it returns you to Aperture with the edited version.

Anyone using Pixelmator on iPad who knows how to merge layers? I have been looking for how to do that for half an hour now, and it is driving me completely crazy!

"Powerful" for mobile toys, extremely weak under desktop standards. Mobile apps need to increase in quality.

Try firstly to group them and then you should get a merge option in the menu

Uhm... how do I group layers?

That software is extremely unintuitive. Why can't I just get a "merge down" option when I tap on a layer?

Just drag one layer on top of another to create a group. You can then add additional layers onto that group. It's mentioned in the help within the app. To merge them, just tap on that group to bring up the context menu.

Thanks a lot!!

It is a must buy app as on OS X. Pixelmator rocks.

Have that too, which is why I know that this app will only get better with time. They have some of the best mac optimization on the planet. A company that's truly loves mac computers will get my support.

Just tell them and the will surly put it in an update. I have never seen another company so fast and responsive to there customers.

It's nice that you've had that experience, but mine was the opposite. Three years ago I bought Pixelmator specifically for its bundled Automator scripts. But the scripts didn't work. I reported this to the Pixelmator. A company rep replied to my inquiry, and promised a fix in the next release. That release came, but no fix. I contacted the rep again, and he gave me the same song and dance, "It will be fixed in the next release." I waited, and again no fix.

I wouldn't have been upset if it weren't for the fact that the Automator scripts were touted as a selling point by Pixelmator. I also would have been OK if the rep simply told me, "Sorry, but we're no longer going to support those particular scripts."

Instead, he told me something that was flat-out untrue. Twice.

Can someone tell me if macrumors makes money off these advertisements?

I don't think they get money directly, but there is always iTunes affiliate program that works good for sites and blogs like that. Why would you want to know? The key thing is that you are able to get cool news first:)

some questions.

If I use this to edit directly from the Apple Photos app I only seem to get to choose filters. None of the other features of pixelmator.

If I use the pixelmatr app and open an image from my photo library, when I save it back it goes back as a new image (which I can live with) but all metadata is lost. i.e. capture time and location.

Are there any workarounds for this or am I missing something? If every time I use this to edit a photo I get a new copy dated today and with no other metadata it's not useful to me.

The first part is correct, only the filters are used as an extension in the photos app.
As for meta data, I would contact the Pixelmator team and all them. I haven't seen any option for this in the app.

Have you even used the app or just trolling like your stupid "mobile toys" app

As someone does professional video and photo editing, I've gone through the paces of this app and it's quite powerful

As one of many who have begged, pleaded and ultimately walked away from Pixelmator due to its lack of accessibility features (such as the inability to use any UI scheme other than eye-searing black-on-black, for instance), I have an entirely different opinion of this company.

Eye of the beholder, I guess.

Except when you say their black interface hurts your eyes.

Seriously... I LOVED Pixelmator 1.x on the Mac, and I would love to love Pixelmator 2.x and 3.x, but my eyes hurt so bad... It's a great piece of software with a poor choice of GUI color that ruins the app in its entirety.

Help please

Probably being thick, but I can't figure how to get full sized images from Aperture onto my iPad to have a play with.

Even though I've changed preview size to 'do not limit' it still transfers smaller images when the Aperture folder I want is chosen in iTunes.

Is there another way to transfer photos from my Mac onto the iPad?

I'd prefer that Aperture wasn't creating full sized previews anyway.

Thank you.

I've always used Photo Transfer App (MAS and iOS) to do this. You can drop stuff right into your camera roll. iTunes insists on resizing photos since it never included a "don't resize photos" option.
