Bewarned. There are some features missing on older that Air iPads. For instance the repair tool.
Would have been nice if the developer mentioned this in the App description.
Tempted to give it a one star review just for that omission in the description.
That's not true. I have a 4th generation and just used the repair tool. I haven't found anything in the described tools that's missing. I can't say that's the case for older than 4th generation, but your statement about older than Air missing features is not correct. It runs pretty smooth as well.
That being said, it's an ok app. All of the comparisons to Photoshop are rather humorous. Neither this OR the desktop version are anywhere close to photoshop. I use both, but let's get real... still a different league. Those who claim otherwise, obviously haven't much experience in photoshop.
I bought Pixelmator a few versions ago and love how the developers have supported it, and constantly making it better and better, without gouging us for fees every time. That alone makes me glad I'm supporting the developers. They will eventually catch up to photoshop and surpass it I believe, but that day certainly isn't here yet.
Regarding the iPad version, it's a decent app, bargain price, stable, useful for basic editing, etc. but there are loads of apps that do as much and even more.
I will enjoy playing with it and trying out the continuity handoff stuff (which should be very cool) but my go-to photo edit apps for the iPad are still Snapseed, Handy Photo, Leonardo, and Laminar Pro.
