Seems logical

It seems logical that any new Towers that Apple is planning would be introduced at MW Tokyo simply because Apple is concerned with their slump in overseas (particularly Asia, Japan) sales, so they need something big for the Tokyo show. Being a seventeen year resident, I can tell you that Apple considers Japan vital to increasing it's market share.

Re: Re: Re: Funny!

I never said i was a pro user, and never hinted that eather.
You said that G4 is no longer a pro solution - you're wrong

...im realy sorry for makeing you cry but the fact is the G4's day in the sun is over! the G5 will soon take its place!
I'm anything but crying - I would love for the G5 to come out - and I hope it does soon. My point is that the G4 (and heck, the G3) is making pro's money now, saying that they are not pro machines makes no sense.

...im not bad mouthing the G4, i am saying its days are #'ed as far as beign the best that apple has to offer.
That's not what you said, you said it's not a pro solution NOW. You don't know any more than I do when the G5 will be coming out. (and as soon as it does, it's days will "be numbered" untill the G6 comes out as well) Information about why it will or will not be ready this quarter is compelling either way.

So i guess you are a pro the hu? well im sure every one in this board know what a "pro" is and what they do. they NEED power for there jobs. however a "pro" is not some tittle you can just throw around and call your self just because you own a G4 and use Photoshop. I use photoshop and can do some amazing things with it, but i dont own a G4. And as far as being more productive do you think it make you that much better?
Actually, the only pro work I do on my mac (G4/400) is as an over-glorified telnet terminal and Java test bed for development on my work's Solaris boxes. My FCP work is just a hobby, I DON'T need the power. (I can appretiate what power they do need though.)

well thank you for your opinion of me being stupid
You're welcome ;-P

... i am fully away there are older chips in our world than the G4. However i never even talked about a pentium or the PPC being older
You said G4 is old and not pro anymore - my point is that other, older architectures are still considered "pro".

Well it apears we can agree on something,
Damn! In that case I want RAMBUS! ;-)

i dont know why you insited on disecting my post. that was VERY short and NEVER talked about any thing you where blabing on about.
Probably because I was bored - sitting here waiting for our "Pro" solaris box to compile my code :-o

how on earth you got all that from just thes 3 lines is beyond me.
Maybe I'm a "pro" :-D

Seriously though - the above is filled with more sarcasm than anything. I want those G5's with DDR filled goodness as much as anyone - I just have a different opinion of what a "Pro" cares about. Pro's care that they make money or are able to do their job well, meeting/exceeding the boss's expectations. I wish I got to use a G4 for my "pro" development at work. Instead, I get to use a Dell (dude!) laptop and Windows 2k. (Talk about yawn!)

Anyway, sorry for the long responses - that's what happens when you compile code for 20 minutes at a time!

lets stop these so called flame wars and all live in civilized descutions, especaily after 9-11
-PEACE!

Agreed. Peace out.

All of these computers are slow, and next years crop will be slow too. How about a computer that is 10 times faster than what is available NEXT year? Maybe THAT would be fast enough...for a little while. Face it, we are wasting away our lives waiting for these d*#m machines to get something done. Where's my 10GHZ machine?....Computers suck the life out of a previously healthy humanoid!!!

They made DP 450 G4's? im sure it does what you want and very well at that, but the new iMac would destroy your computer! and yes i know the iMac screen is not realy for "pros" users "isn't"? it? <--- was that a question or what?

whoops....

The new iMac might beat a dual g4/450 some of the time, but the dual has several performance advantages that best the iMac - especially the 700 mhz model.

(Apple TIL #58666 provides full specs for these machines)

1. Dual processors are a major advantage with OS X
2. 1 MB Backside cache per processor
3. Up to 2 GB of SDRAM (4 DIMM slots, baby!)
4. Upgradable video card
5. Internal mass and optical storage is upgradeable to choice of higher performance bus - and stock drive is 7200 RPM
6. Gigabit ethernet
7. PCI slots

Cheers...
