Anybody have the antiglare on the new iPad???

How badly does the anti-glare version effect the retina display? Anyone have close up shots?

For those wondering why spend $30 on a sheet of plastic, and don't know what's the difference between Power support and a $1 - $10 shield... It's clarity/quality

Check out SGP vs PS

https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/921023/

This is the difference between a now $22 and $30 antiglare screen protector - and from what I remember when I used to buy those cheap ones, or get the "free" ones included in a case, I'd not only see the difference but I'd feel it... Less smooth, rainbow effect when it hits the light, and constant corner peel backs.

What's the difference between buying 2-3 $10 ones throughout the year that collect dirt, lift up edges, and scratch easily- than buying 1 $30 one that will last over a year

That being said I'm still not sure if I wanna fork over $30 on power support :-/ cause now $30 for screen, $30 for smart cover $30 for back cover. I rather just get square trade again for $69 and try my luck lol

Please please please.... screen protectors are accessories and should thus be discussed in the accessories section.

My guess is that if you use an iPad 2 protector on new iPad it won't be within the tolerances that people expect to still get the best use out of the Retina display which is why they have to develop a new one. There's always some degradation with these protectors so we'll have to wait for the new iPad version but PS should not price the new iPad version higher unless it offers more clarity than an iPad 2 one would.

I'm actually using the PS crystal spare I had for my original iPad. Just had to do a hole punch for the front facing camera. Fits perfectly and has absolutely no loss of clarity.

Why would anyone want to spend $30 + tax and install fees for a piece of plastic film? I'm not knocking on you OP but seriously, Powersupport needs to lower their prices. Monoprice sells crystal clear screen protector for iPad 2 and the fitment on the iPad 3 is flawless. And the quality is just as good as the PS screen protector.

Price on mono price.com for the protector is like $1.27. Even cheaper if you buy more than 10+.

Same reason people spend 10k for a Rolex. 250k for a Lambo. Your buying a quality piece. I've seen other Protectors and they are junk compared to PS. Janel at the Burbank store does a amazing job at installing it too.

Or to keep it on topic a bit....its the same reason you bought a Apple product and not a ASUS. :)

This reminds me off people using filters to protect the front element of camera lenses. Anything you put in front of it will reduce clarity. I don't know what you guys are doing, but I haven't had any problem keeping my iPad screens scratch-free without screen protectors.

I use a PS antiglare. For me it's not about scratches its about the antiglare and anti-fingerprints. I sit out on my patio a lot. Without the antiglare I find myself twisting, turning and tilting the iPad in order to stop looking at myself. The 'pristine clarity' of the screen does me no good if it can't see the screen through the glare. Plus I like not having to continually wipe the screen.

So for some of us the trade off is worth it. Each person has the right to do what works best for them without being subjected to belittling by those who don't happen to agree. That's the nice thing about freedom of choice.

You mean, Welcome to the world of PowerSupportUSA.

No, I meant what I said.

PS is certainly one of the good ones but not the only game in town. I tend to lean towards SGP.

Just for clarity, that is a comparison of matte protectors which are optically very different from the crystal.

I've been waiting for this one... :D

With UV lens filters, as with screen protectors, the question is whether there is a discernible effect. Only the most OCD care about an effect that isn't perceptible. I had a lens knocked to the floor at an event I was working one day. It landed on the edge of the UV filter, bending the ring and smashing the filter. Filter saved the lens.

All this is just a matter of insurance and peace of mind. Personal preference. Scratches aren't inevitable. Protectors aren't required equipment. Good screen protectors are available that do not perceptibly affect the screen quality or feel.

On the other hand scratches can and do happen even when people are careful. Choose whether to use one or not and move on.

Hmmmm...I'm interested in hearing more peeps experiences with monoprice's film. I've bought several items from them (their wall mounts cannot be beat) and have been very happy.

I got a perfect install today with the steamy bathroom trick.
You have my attention...tell me more :)

If you notice, on their own web store they have a whole special page for iPad 3 accessories but it's empty. The crystal screen protector is on the iPad 2 page only. I wonder if they have in the works a protector designed especially for the new iPad.

Run the shower on hot until the BR is filled with steam. This weighs down and settles floating dust particles and lessens the chance of a botched install. It's then just a matter of making sure you clean the screen very well and align the protector perfectly before laying it down.

^^^Thanks John

why would it have to be made special for the ipad 3? The screen size, shape and features (camera, home button) are exactly the same. The "crystal" screen protector is already as clear as you can get. I ordered 4 (2 for me and 2 for the wife in case I hose up the installs).

Agreed. They've been making protectors for a higher pixel density display for coming up on two years now (iphone 4/4S), why would the 3rd gen ipad be anything special?

The $5 installation price is WELL worth it.
Worth is always subjective. I've never had any problems installing any screen protector and wouldn't shell out $5 to have someone do it. As with any subjective matter, YMMV.

NOTHING Comes Close To Power Support Crystal Screen Protectors!
You haven't experienced anything that comes close != there is nothing. There are plenty of good screen protectors out there.

Why would anyone want to spend $30 + tax and install fees for a piece of plastic film?
Why would you assume that your preferences are universal? Does the why matter? People do. If you don't then don't. No one's forcing you to buy a PS screen protector and pay to have it installed.

I don't know what you guys are doing, but I haven't had any problem keeping my iPad screens scratch-free without screen protectors.
Anecdotal evidence means nothing. The fact that you haven't scratched your screen doesn't mean that others can't benefit from using one. You can't extrapolate a trend from a single data point no matter what the topic. If you don't see the point in using a screen protector then stop clicking on screen protector threads and move on.

^ This. People need to stop assuming that their preferences are universal. Do what works for you whether it's using a screen protector or not. Even selecting a screen protector is a matter of personal preference.

I'm now in Power Support site and they still don't have the new iPad protector available yet. SO I'm looking at ipad2 version and wondering what's the difference between Power Support Crystal Film and HD anti-glare version??

And risk tripping the water damage sticker with all the moisture? No Thanks.

I did a wet install with my power support crystal clear (for ipad 2) on my ipad 3. Went great. These things a super hard to line up, the iphone is cake compared to the ipad! Not enough water to trip the sensor

it fits the same. Using an iPad 2 Smart Cover, ZAGG Leatherskin, and PS AG skin.

Dimensions match. Unless you just really care what the packaging says.

Can anyone give a comparison to Moshi's iVisor screen protector to Power Support and SGP?

I ordered 2 Power Support Crystal film on amazon and received them today, when I opened package, I see on the film, there was only 1 hole for the home buttom, no hole for the top front camera, is this normal? or did I get a fake one?

Thanks...

You got one for the original iPad, not iPad 2/3.

Anti-glare is just that - cuts down the glare but also the clarity. PS Crystal is crystal clear. Feels and looks just like a bare screen but better as it's protected.
