Maybe it will come back as ExpressCard 2.0, which is twice as fast, and even a little bit more than USB 3.0

I wouldn't be surprised is Apple just gave you USB 3.0 and an SDXC slot.

I hope not; it sounds like most users don't use the SD slot enough to justify continuing the functionality. Objections?

I don't know that I would go that far Habitus. I almost feel like you're pushing an agenda of making the SD slot seem obsolete.

I would definitely agree that Apple should offer other ports over an SD slot, but I would not agree that it's not useful.... just that things like Express card, eSATA, and USB 3.0 are more useful (in that order). :)

I use it almost daily. I have a GoPro video camera for taking motorcycle videos. It was a nice change from my old MBP. It's one of the reasons why I upgraded.

My point, exactly! I definitely feel that the express slot has incredible upside :D Just wish Apple would add it

We all know you have an opinion :D What's your take on the SD reader in the MBP? Do you prefer the express 34 slot?

I still have and Ex slot and all the other ports on the Classic MBP, so its fine, i use an SD rarely. A multicard reader would be better, but then again, an express card reader would be a better option.

I have never used my 34 slot, but i use my SD card quite a bit. I have a 4GB SanDisk SD card, and it came with a USB adapter. Also, I SO highly doubt Apple will go with USB 3 since light peak will be out soon (ish).

Have you ever used it VIA USB? How does the performance differ between USB and the SD slot in your MBP?
