Gosh I hope so otherwise it would be a waste to have a release date like that.

I hope so too. I've just seen "ships on the 24th" in a few places, so was wondering what the general consensus was.

I'm not as sure as the others.... I've ordered other items from apple (other than the iphone) that had preorders with specific release dates.... the people go them in the stores... and we, who preordered, impatiently waited for our products....

i know it happened with the original ipad mini LTE version..... they were in stores earlier than those of us who preordered had them delivered....

Did you pre-order from Apple? (as opposed to a carrier?)
Did you pre-order at midnight Pacific right when the orders started?

If you order directly from Apple and get the first batch available, you'll get it on shipping day.

Yes, Apple contracts with UPS and FedEx to expedite delivers on the launch day (and of course NOT a day before).

Wasn't there one iPhone where ups or fedex slipped up and many got delivered a day before?

yeah a couple years ago (4s maybe) and I think they got chastised badly for it from :apple:.

Yes, and I don't think it was that many in absolute numbers but the internet makes for a HUGE amplifier.

I'm sure after that debacle they doubled down on making sure ALL delivers are on the date Apple specifies. No doubt Apple is a HUGE account that pays on time with NO chance of the check bouncing.:D

Yeah, folk get nervous every pre-order because it usually says "ships on" but it usually means ships to your door rather than ships from the warehouse lol.

yep.... preordered from apple directly.

non-phone items aren't always guarenteed to be delivered on release day....

I think you have had bad luck. Every product I have bought from apple, if a preorder was offered, was delivered on launch day.

The information on this thread is, so far, wrong. Apple Watch's first batch of pre-orders will *ship* on the 24th, not arrive on the 24th. If you want one on the 24th your only option is a retail store, but supplies will be slim.

What evidence do you have for stating this?

In the past, all pre-orders have arrived on launch day. Sure, it's possible (though not likely) that Apple might do it differently this time, but if so, they haven't said.

That has not been the case in the past. Please provide your source that Apple has changed their pre order policy.

Yes, this is news to me as well. My hope is that I can preorder on the 10th and pick it up at the store of my choice on April 24. I love the launch day atmosphere.

If I told you I know a little birdie at Cupertino you wouldn't believe me - but check my previous watch related posts and see my track record maybe?

That's not what the UK AppleStore says. It says:
Delivers 24/4 in most areas

Most of my previous online pre-orders (iPad, iPhone 3s, iPad third gen) were delivered on launch day (or a day early). The UK iPhone 5S online pre-orders arrived about a week late, but then they were not predicted to be delivered on launch day.
