Just a heads up, I spoke with Apple Customer Support today as I wanted confirmation regarding the unlocked status of the iPhone 6s if purchased at full price. The Customer Support Rep specifically stated that they had not received any information from Corporate that would clearly allow them to confirm the unlocked status of iPhone 6s phones that are purchased outright.

If you are like me and want a fully unlocked 6s, you should probably wait. Damn shame since this is the first time you could buy an iPhone at full price without the need for "upgrade" status.

VZW phones are always unlocked; they have to be because of the C Block agreement with the FCC. Every one I've had has been unlocked.

I asked the ATT chat lady online about this and she indicated that the full price devices come locked, but I could request an unlock after 30 days.
Only if you buy it from AT&T. If you buy it full price from Apple it is unlocked from the start.

So if you buy your T-Mobile phone through T-Mobile, it's locked for 40 days. But if you buy your T-Mobile phone through Apple, it's unlocked. Is this correct?

If the at&t version doesn't support CDMA, will that affect the resale value? I would rather have a phone that is immediately unlocked and supports CDMA (t mobile version) than a phone with lte band 30 and no CDMA support (at&t version).

I'm pretty convinced the AT&T version has CDMA support now. In this case, an unlocked AT&T version should have the best resale, assuming misinformation doesn't spread and convince people to think the AT&T version doesn't have CDMA

Take a look at some of the "supported networks" under A1633/4 -- a lot of them are CDMA carriers, such as Boost, Bluegrass, and C-Spire

I preordered last night and chose the off-contract full price option, mainly because it was the only option I could get to work. It shows the phone is GSM. I'm kinda new to this, does that mean I can take my AT&T SIM card out of my iPhone 6 and put it in the new phone and it will work?

Yes.

All carriers will unlock a fully paid for phone without hassle. This literally only affects flippers. I would have trouble finding something about which I care less.

Just a smallish point, but unlocking the phone also affects people that travel to other countries and may want to drop a pre-paid SIM card in them temporarily.

According to this article, it does not support CDMA per apple's support sheet. I'm confused.

The lady I spoke to this morning from Apple said that if you bought the T-Mobile version, but have AT&T service, place your AT&T Sim card in the phone BEFORE you power it on. She said once you power it on, it locks it to that carrier.

Verizon model will be unlocked

That's now how it works. An unlocked phone doesn't suddenly become locked by changing or not changing SIM cards.
