Did anyone think that this could be for resale?
just like how you have lots of Asian pepple camping for a iPhone nowadays compared to the old days when it used be the real fanboys.

You of all people know Apple does not sleep at the wheel. Apple waits for the right combination of matured technology.

I agree that Apple was behind on pushing resolution independent apps.

They were also, as predicted long ago, partially trapped in screen size because of their emphasis on one-handed usage, and their lack of a Back button under the thumb. That's why they had to come up with the Back swipe, which isn't universally usable.

That's not even in the same chuckle league as Tim Cook talking about 4" iPhones, just a year before following in Samsung's footsteps:

"We've put a lot of thinking into screen size and we think we've picked the right one."

;)

Based on the number of the 4" model sold, he probably isn't crying.

thats more of a strategy to throw the competition off. They do that with every product.

That's all true except for the "Google is great" part. I'm not sure they're so great. What have they ever really done except create a usable search engine and sell mountainloads of data to intelligence agencies and corporate interests? Driverless cars? Google glass?

Um... well there is this thing they do called 'android'. Apparently quite a few phones and tablets use it as their OS now.

Google it. It was widely reported.
trusted sources? On this forum we present trusted sources or it just ignored. Went to the mall yesterday the Samsung experience kiosk was closed, not a good sign

----------

Everything is relative.

Just look at the incredible difference in China and Korea sales now that a larger screen is available.

That would've been nice to have earlier on.
one of john Gruber's podcast goes into depth why that wasn't possible

Surprising in korea. Ill still be buying a note 4 tho

*edit* i see see article missed out one key point point to skew things in the iphones favour

Nice for MacRumors to leave out a key part of information. As has been noted by other news sources, Samsung only allotted each carrier 10,000 preorders, while Apple hasn't limited the amount.

That puts it in a perspective a bit.

All three phones are great, and all three will sell a ton.

I don't know about you, but it has been extremely nice to watch Samsung burn. Just think about it: A huge conglomerate where the vast majority of their profit (80% of Samsung Electronics, so more than 50% of the whole conglomerate) comes from cheap-ass, plastic phones DIRECTLY with a vast amount depending on them indirectly (samsung display, etc.).

They went from 60 % growth to 60 % decline in profits. What a turn! Costumers learned and were only fooled once or twice. And the news about their Chairman and possible successor, cheating on benchmarks, being known for useless gimmicks, the attempts to break from Google? What a *****torm.

They will still be around for decades to come, but never as a juggernaut. Just a "me too" company that no one cares about.

And the whole Android ecosystem, with every single OEM on the red or making 0 $? It is getting funnier and funnier.

Yeah, I know: Competition is good for this, competition is good for that.
I don't want to only have Apple around: I just want to see corrupt companies burn and irrelevant OEMs disappear. I wish the best for great companies, like Google.

And that could very well be Apple in few years under Tim Cooks leadership.

I have no love for Samsung, but this report is misleading. Those preorder totals include both the 4.7 and 5.5 inch iPhones. A more accurate comparison would be total iPhone 6+ preorders vs Note 4 preorders.

I wonder if they included the Note (4?) Edge if it would change anything

totaly in true Samsung is getting hammered by Chinese OEM clone phones.

Google? The other "me too" company?

Ye I only saw this after I commented, awful journalism.

How do you figure that? The article from WS says pre-orders for iPhone 6/6+?

Is there another source with different info?

You don't seem to understand how skewed this story is. The whole point I'm making is that the preorder total includes BOTH iPhones. It is illogical to compare the preorders of one phone in one size (Note 4) to preorders of a phone in two different sizes (6/6+). A comparison of the Note 4 preorders to the iPhone 6+ preorders would be more accurate.

Agreed. I love apple just as much as the next person...but I think samsung, google, HTC, etc make some great products...which leads to better products all around.

This type of article only serves to generate views and in turn revenue. Did the original WSJ article mention this? If not...very disappointing.

Yep my bad. I misread what you wrote.

I have a nice and affordable smartphone with very nice software because of Google. Millions of Windows users have a decent browser and the web and its apps because of Google.
