That's all true except for the "Google is great" part. I'm not sure they're so great. What have they ever really done except create a usable search engine and sell mountainloads of data to intelligence agencies and corporate interests? Driverless cars? Google glass?

true, ALL their software and "services" they seem to offer for "free" is to exploit your data.

No thank you

I have a nice and affordable smartphone with very nice software because of Google. Millions of Windows users have a decent browser and the web and its apps because of Google.

Oh, sure...never mind that that browser is based on Webkit, right? There are other great browsers out there as well...nearly all based on Webkit too. Who would be responsible for that?

Doesn't WebKit predate Safari? As I recall, when Apple revealed Safari they said that they were utilizing an open source engine that had existed for a few years, and everyone assumed that they meant Gecko (Firefox's engine) at first.

Maybe Apple should make an attack commercial in South Korea…. highlighting the fact that the iPhone is selling better than Sammy's flagship, in Sam's own home turf. After watching the commercial, the heads of all those Samsung execs would explode!

Still with that wrong claim that Google sells their data?

At least, if you don't like a company, post right claims, not the same wrong ******** wvery time

KDE team?

We live in a wonderful time where all the manufactures are making great smartphones and its now down to personal choice.

How anyone sees this as a bad thing beggars belief.

I don't know about you, but it has been extremely nice to watch Samsung burn. Just think about it: A huge conglomerate where the vast majority of their profit (80% of Samsung Electronics, so more than 50% of the whole conglomerate) comes from cheap-ass, plastic phones DIRECTLY with a vast amount depending on them indirectly (samsung display, etc.).

They went from 60 % growth to 60 % decline in profits. What a turn! Costumers learned and were only fooled once or twice. And the news about their Chairman and possible successor, cheating on benchmarks, being known for useless gimmicks, the attempts to break from Google? What a *****torm.

They will still be around for decades to come, but never as a juggernaut. Just a "me too" company that no one cares about.

And the whole Android ecosystem, with every single OEM on the red or making 0 $? It is getting funnier and funnier.

Yeah, I know: Competition is good for this, competition is good for that.
I don't want to only have Apple around: I just want to see corrupt companies burn and irrelevant OEMs disappear. I wish the best for great companies, like Google.

Believe it our not. I think Window Phone will fill the void left by samsung(if they keep falling at there current pace.)

Google maps. They are still the best out there, especially their POI database. I can't even find a damn McDonald's in Apple or bing maps in Italy. I mean, a mcDonald's , not an obscure small irrelevant pizzeria. And traffic, especially since they bought waze is terrific. Oh, and street view

Samsung capped preorder numbers at 30,000 and sold out on the first day. I'm sure they're real upset about that.
That's interesting that it was an artificial cap, not an "organic" one. Which seems a little odd, since it just makes the numbers look bad for them, even if it works out the same in the end once the device is actually on sale. Does Samsung announce per-device sales numbers ever? Maybe they set the bar low to avoid tipping their hand what demand really was, or because they were afraid it would be very low.

Even so, I wonder if they sold out of those preorders within 10 minutes...

They make a mobile OS that dominates the worldwide smartphone marketshare. Is that good enough?

You don't seem to understand how skewed this story is. The whole point I'm making is that the preorder total includes BOTH iPhones. It is illogical to compare the preorders of one phone in one size (Note 4) to preorders of a phone in two different sizes (6/6+). A comparison of the Note 4 preorders to the iPhone 6+ preorders would be more accurate.

What's even more funny is how this board used to call foul and how unfair it was to compare "all the Samsung phones" being sold vs. just ONE model of the iPhone. :)

How things have changed.

It's especially impressive when you consider that selling iPhones in South Korea (the home of Samsung) is a bit like selling Air Conditioners in Alaska...

Only the more accurate way to put it would be like selling iPhones in America (the home of Apple) compared to Samsung phones in Korea.

I did get a chuckle out of the Galaxy Alpha's metal band with chamfered edge now that Apple has gone away from chamfered edges in the iPhone.

I did get a chuckle when Apple released smaller tablets and bigger phones when they had been telling the world they didn't need them for so long.

Its because stock is very tight for the note 4 and they didn't want people pre ordering and then waiting weeks for the phone.

I really hope you are kidding.

Android? Like it or loathe it, ios wouldn't be what it is without the competition and ideas that have been cribbed from it.

Also at least they are playing and investing in new tech that may, or may not change the world. Glucose contact lens, glass and yes - driverless cars.

Succeed or fail, at least they are Investing and trying to push the boundaries. Apple obviously make hugely desirable products and with pay are popularising the use of established NFC technology, but let's just see their latest offerings and ask how hard they are trying to develop new and amazing products that are "the best that we can produce". The iPad mini 3 and Mac mini?

Apple aren't looking as great as they were a few years ago. They are now in the long game, drip feeding out small dev iterations, milking the market and feeding shareholders. :(

Dude, you could not have said it better

Love Google but hate Samsung.

Or how about providing internet to third world countries with hot air balloons?

Me too, just two years too late with your copying this time Samsung. It still has the flimsy cheap plastic back too, what's the point?

Funny how every other company has gold phones and tablets now too.
