I want to buy it but I'm still in love with my 6... what I should do?

Wait for the keynote, if you like what you see pre-order which ever one you like (7s, 7s Plus or 8/Edition) then sell your iPhone 6.

Last year orders started at 8am in U.K. So hope it's that time again

It has been for the last couple of year i think, i'm hoping we get 8am on Friday 15th, i think it could be a nightmare to get an 8/Edition if everyone ends up opting for it over the 7s and 7s Plus.

That's because last year almost nobody cared about the iPhone 7, practically no change since the 6, but this year, if there's no iPhone 7S and they go straight to the 8, it's going to sell like crazy and pretty sure the process won't be as easy.

lol that's a good one! :D

But if the 8 really is $1,000+, many people will surely be turned away from upgrading to it :D

Let’s hope that at 0800 (the time I usually leave.. or until half 8) that it all goes smoothly on my iPhone and or Mac.

I’ve set up the primary quick purchase thing.

Last year pre-ordering was horrible for my jet black.

The primary payment thing, is that different from your regular payment info? I just switched my normal payment to PayPal in an effort to speed things up.

I luckily finish work on the 14th so it's good timing so can pre order and set my alarm at home.

Do you remember of the time to pre order was the same for carriers? As I plan to order via EE. Last year I bought sim free

If I remember correctly the pre-order dates were the same throughout the day on pre-order date last year, I pre-ordered from Apple directly tho so I can't know for sure.

Guessing it will be the same. If it's anything over a grand will go on contract. 256GB is needed so guessing it will

So here’s a question. Since I have a paid off and unlocked phone now with T-Mobile can I get a sprint or Verizon SIM card and put it in my phone and then order on launch day? Then put my T-Mobile SIM back in? Or will that not work?

I'm going to enjoy seeing people staying awake until 5 AM to preorder their new iPhone, as well as people setting up a tent in their local Apple Store a week before launch just to get it first.
wait, what?
you're going to stay awake until 5am in order to see people staying awake until 5am to order a phone? then also watch people standing in line for a week?

idk, sounds like you might be better off doing your own thing and ignore what others are doing in regards to this.
imo

By now, everyone who's going to buy the next iPhone already has a perfectly good iPhone. I don't understand this frenetic compulsion to get the next model the second it becomes available. It seems weird to me.

While I am a compulsive upgrader I do agree with you however, they really get you by the short hairs. While upgrading after only a year is close to pointless its just as if not more pointless to not upgrade. Let me explain: When you get a phone nowadays they put you a 2 year re-payment plan at roughly $43/month. After one year you can upgrade to another plan at roughly $43/month, or you can keep your current phone, continue to pay the same $43/month for another year at which time your current phone is now 2 years old and you will most likely really want to upgrade at that point; but only if you keep your phone beyond the two year period will you realize any savings. Most of us have just accepted the fact that every month we're going to be shelling $43 for a phone, it might as well be the latest and greatest phone.

Nope: T-mobile is GSM and Sprint/Verizon still use CDMA for voice and LTE for DATA. Even if they USE LTE for both they are on different bands. Might get you 2G speeds but not sure on that.
[doublepost=1504787921][/doublepost]I have 6s+ but not sure about 8 or 7s+ depends on what they offer and price. Sorry, Apple not paying more than a laptop for a phone.

Let me rephrase that. I may have said it wrong.

I know that Verizon/Sprint models work on both CDMA and GSM since they have both radios whereas T-Mobile/AT&T models are just GSM. Provided the new iPhones are set up the same way as current models, since I have to go into a store with T-Mobile to do IUP, if I were to open a line with say Verizon, could I just get a phone via IUP and then close the Verizon account and use it on T-Mobile then, since that is where my main account is through? Or is that too much of a hassle?

Edit: My current model is a Verizon model that is paid off. Forgot to add that.

My 6 died so I'm on a 4s painfully until these new ones launch. 8 looks to be awesome but the price and all that 1st gen stuff will probably have me play it safe and go with the 7s. Only 2 things might have me going for the 8 - if the camera really is a massive jump over the 7s and if there is substantially better battery life. These days the phones are so fast I care less and less about upgrading. If my 6 didn't die I would have gone another year with it. While slower than the 6s, its only real pitfall was the 1gb of ram.

There are two models of each phone. GSM and CDMA based on your carrier. T-Mobile and Verizon are not compatible, so it wouldn't work. You could go from AT&T to T-Mobile or vice versa.

Getting pretty stoked. I want to see how they resolve this touch ID thing.

And what the S models will look like. How are they going to launch two models at once and account for sales of either. Very curious!

If you're changing carriers the process may be too complicated to complete during launch day.

In general, I'd use the app. Are you porting a number? Doing a family plan? Those may make things harder. If the past is a guide, you have around 30 minutes to get into the first batch of devices. It might be worth it to try and go through the process to see how much of a pain it is -before- launch day...but they usually do a credit check and you probably don't want that hit twice.

Thanks for the tip. Yes, I will be porting a number to Tmobile. But its just a single user plan for now.

Actually we dont know how many model there are....there have been iphones with both CDMA and GSM support (was it the 5s?)

Right. And I have the Qualcom model, which is the Verizon model which is compatible on all 4 carriers. What I am asking is if I open a new account via Verizon, can I just order the new phone through IUP online and then close the account since I am not tied to it and use the phone on T-Mobile. The reason I want to do this is IF I use IUP with T-Mobile, I have to go IN store to do it on pre-order day, which I won't probably get until after the new year. So I want to do it online. Which is where the Verizon model comes into play since it IS compatible with T-Mobile. (Provided the specs are the same as the current model)

Does Verizon not SIM lock their devices? (I forget if they do)

While I'm excited, I'm taking a wait and see approach to the event next week. As I've said all along, I'd love to get the 8, but if it's priced at $1K+, I'm going to continue using my current devices (7 & SE). I doubt the 7s/7s+ will be that significant of an upgrade.
