Or is Apple looking at killing the Apple Store concept? They have pushed their Kiosks into WalMart's and Best Buy's, and even Target stores. Is it possible that they are fighting unionization attempts?

this seems like an odd time to be gutting your new hired people, some just out of training. This seems like a very strange time to be hacking your employee counts... Why the heck put them through training if you were going to axe them so quick. 'Pre-training'? Like for the future? Um, it isn't likely to work that well...

That coupled wjt the new licensing agreement and sharing with Microsoft (even if it is a legal maneuver) looks like Tim Cook 'killing the father' rather than thinking things through and planning for the future...

But who am I. I'm not making $600 million plus bonuses and stock options. Perhaps if I was that distracted, I could make a series of bad decisions, be rewarded by the board, and drift to the ground on a golden parachute...

Both at&t and verizon will throttle you if you go past their soft limits. I haven't heard anything about t-mobile, sprint, cricket or virgin.
Unfortunately if you have AT&T you WILL get throttled after 5gb of use of LTE and 3GB of use for 3G. I found this out this week and I've had the unlimited plan since the first iPhone.:(

What they call '4G' isn't really 4G. It's a misspelled 3G.

Ok.... That's why they also have LTE
Which is what was said....
You've obviously never tried it out on the iPad or any other lte AT&T phone..

Who prefers to pre-order? I personally enjoy making the trip to an Apple Store to purchase my product in person.

Hell ya!!

I've been a loyal Tmobile customer since they were Omnipoint! Waited through 5 generations of IPhones for them to get that damn phone with frequent disappointment. If it doesn't come on the 12th I'm out and off to Verizon or AT&T, can't wait any longer! I want to talk to Siri!!!

Welcome to the family ... Almost!

----------

I meant 4s, sorry.

Well it's not going to be discontinued either.
Just to clarify that part

I'm going to call it now, and say scoring a phone on release day by just walking into the store will probably work in many metro areas.

Tim Cook has it under control.

Yup, just like he had it under control with the Retina MBP launch !!!

Just look at the comments from MR morons ...... "I'm not going to buy the iPhone 4SL" like anyone would give a rat's a**e!! if you buy it or not

So pathetic!! The phone has not even been announced yet!

I for one prefer to pre order. Theres no guarantee that your going to get an iPhone by just going to the Apple Store on launch day, has its a first come first served basis. If you don't get there early enough, then there's a chance that they will have no stock left.

Plus I've got better things to do, than getting up half way through the night to go and stand outside a shop for hours. To me there's no sense in doing that when you can pre order the iPhone off of Apple's website and have it delivered on launch day, but each to their own :)

Can I get some advice, I've got an iPhone 4 that's been off contract with AT&T for a few months. I wanna get this new phone and I wanna stop paying AT&T a thousand bucks a year to make a few hundred phone calls. So I wanna buy unlocked and go prepaid, which sounds simple in theory but in reality I'm not sure if it's even possible.

Here's what I want to do within the next month if anyone can offer me some guidance I'd be real happy...

Sell iPhone 4 (Through Nextworth or eBay)
Pre order the new iPhone unlocked
Switch to Virgin and transfer my # from AT&T

I know it's not known or expected that Virgin will have the 5 at launch but why couldn't I just buy it unlocked from apple, bring it to Virgin, and stick their sim card in there?

If that's not possible what's my next best option for getting the new iPhone and a reasonable prepaid plan?

What happening if iPhone 5 not going be a big hit? Many Chinese accessory makers not so exicited because they thinking it going to be failure. They already switching to Samsung G 3 which many peoples buying. If iPhone 5 going look like iPhone 4 and 4S then not many people put hand in pocket to buy. I so worry they losing magic touch.:(

Anyone remember the limit of previous iPhones you could pre-order? Think I'll be able to pre order 4, i have 4 plans ready to go.

Anyone familiar with the Sprint Employee referral program and know if new phones are generally available there?

I'm planning on pre ordering the new iPhone and want to use the discounted Sprint plan. Do you think I could or is that program limited to certain phones?

I'm on it (SERO Premium plan) now with a 4s. Had to upgrade to the Premium plan which is $10 more a month though. Can't complain. Paying $50/month for unlimited data/text + 500min is a sweet deal.

One word of caution: I upgraded by preorder for the 4s, and everything went smoothly, but when I got it and went to activate it, Sprint wanted me to change to their NEW employee plan (and I never was an employee), so I has to call back 3 times before I found an agent that would just change me over to the (no-longer-offered) SERO Premium. Now it's great.

In preparation to order my wife's line to a 4s, I went to the Sprint store, asked them to change her plan to the Premium FIRST, then I was able to order and activate her 4s. Best news is, there was a mix-up somewhere and they never renewed her 2-yr contract, so it says her line is still eligible for upgrade!

iPhone a failure???? Yeah.... right :) Like Shrek used to say :)

That could onle be Samsung's wildes dream :D

Right idea, wrong execution: Virgin uses Sprint's network, which is CDMA and has no SIM cards. I would look into Straight Talk instead, which uses AT&T's network: http://www.straighttalk.com

Have you configured your settings to minimize battery drain? I'm getting 3 days under normal use on a charge with mine.

Same here. I'm always curious to know what these power users are doing that they are only getting a few hours of battery life and still consider themselves using the device under "average usage".

It depends on how much you use your phone, yes, but what most people ignore is that it also depends on how good your coverage is. Being a road warrior myself I can tell that different areas drain my phone differently.

I guess you guys are luck you live in a good coverage area, your phone doesn't have to work hard to pick a signal.

Guess I've been really lucky then. I have lived in 5 different US states and 3 different countries and I travel at least 3 times a month and still don't run into the mysterious battery drain that people experience from everyday use.

I think it is a matter of what each person considers "normal usage". Friend at work watches Netflix on his iPhone several hours a day and also complains that his battery sucks.
