As for location, mine is being delivered to the hunter region in NSW, so two hours north of Sydney.
I'm several hours from a major city by road, but considering how quick they got my Smart Cover from 'electronically lodged' to being registered at my local depot (25 hours) I think I should be safely in Zone 1.
Just got an email from Apple saying they weren't able to authorize my card. Tried to give them a call but they are closed. So I guess will have to call tomorrow morning. Makes no sense since the funds are there in account.
EDIT: turns out since my card is international they blocked it for security reasons. Just got that fixed!

My order is Prepared as of this morning, shipping to Central Qld.
I hope that Apple is shipping this preorder from Sydney and not Shenzhen. I was really pissed when I ordered my 4S within 2 minutes of the start of preorders on the site yet I didn't get it till Monday cause the morons in China sent them out Thursday night from Shenzhen.
I got in within the first 15 minutes of iPad 3rd gen orders starting so I better get it Friday. The Apple Executive Assistant I spoke to after emailing Tim Cook about the late shipping of my 4S said they wouldn't stuff up preorders like that again, I hope they keep that promise.
My 32gb black wifi iPad ordered at 7:45 announcement day has changed to 'preparing for shipment' 
I order mine one on the 8th March 2012 in the evening around 10pm.

It's actually shipped and just check, at the TNT Depot. I hope I will get delivery tomorrow.

Like I said before, the allotment of first round pre-orders were pretty much in Australia before we ordered them. They're just sitting around waiting until the worldwide release date of Friday the 16th.
So your iPad arriving in Sydney is simply it being added to the pile of first round pre-orders, and you'll have to wait like the rest of us.
Mine went preparing for shipment last night. When I checked it this morning when I woke up it was back at processing!!!
How long did it take to go from Process to prep to shipped? if you don't mind me asking...
Just wondering, mine wasn't engraved, but I am wondering how much longer until I get a shipment notification...

On TNT site it say pick up the 11th March, I believe 2-3 days.
Maybe people at Apple saw what was engrave on it

What the? You gave your 12 months old baby an iPad?
THey released the money... hoping this means they will actually put the proper charge through and then shipping, but I am calling them to check because I am damned if I am waiting for 3 weeks because of some clerical error.
EDIT - Update - OK, so apparently, it is still going to ship, they put the hold on to make sure the funds will clear, and will charge it proper when the item ships!
I am getting a little bit giddy!

Yea, I was considering my options of lining up at the local Apple store and other places, but to be honest, I am patient enough to get it Friday afternoon or Monday morning... well, I say I am, but I really want it Friday instead of Monday...
I'm running out of hope here... Unless it goes back to preparing for shipping tonight and ships tomorrow from Eastern Australia somewhere I'm fairly certain I won't have mine on Friday despite a 0930 order on the announcement day.

try ordering 5.15am (perth) / 8.15am (sydney) and get flipped back to 20th of march straight off just because perth is not zone 1 according to TNT

Who told you this? perth is clearly wrongly placed on the delivery map, if you look at a proper map, Perth is smack bang in the middle of Zone 1
the staff at the apple store online contact. according to her, the folks up north are getting it earlier than metro areas for logistical reasons. she said that she found it hard to believe as well but that's how TNT rolls :S
