I don't doubt that someone told you that, but I don't believe it's true or the person you spoke to knew what they were talking about.
 
Hooray -- preparing for shipment to zone 1 Melbourne.

I'd say tomorrow is D-day. Apple will ship tomorrow and it's all up to TNT :eek: !
 
So I've spoken to an Apple Store rep about my order. He said that they have a number of iPad's in Australia ready to be shipped because it's a very big launch. He couldn't say if mine is in country or not. I hope mine is.

And question for people that are seeing there iPad's shipped from Shenzhen. Is your iPad engraved?

I read one theory that engraved iPad's are being dispatched from Shenzhen but most non-engraved iPads are local. I know Leo Laporte got his engraved and it's already been shipped from Shenzhen.

Mine is preparing for shipment, money is on hold.

Maybe tomorrow is the day when the money goes and we get a shipped.

Melbourne: Got the smart cover and camera kit from TNT last Saturday!
 
Of course the 16th is US time I suppose so maybe we will not get ours shipped until the 15th US time (our 16th) and delivery on the 17th or later.... hmmmm.... It is possible....

Apple today officially announced that the new iPad will launch at 8:00 AM local time on Friday in the United States and nine other countries.
 
Just spoke to a rep, was polite and tried to be helpful, but couldn't tell me anything I didn't aready know.

Mine is still preparing for shipment, and all she could say was the stock should be allocated, and that I should expect it to ship out in the nexxt 24 hours...

I am growing impatient, I want this to arrive by tomorrow, I want to play on the weekend, and frankly, my iPad2 is making me feel dirty...
 
I ordered mine 8am local east coast time. The tracking number has no data yet.

EDIT: mine says it received in the depot in the future. Some random hours into the future on the 15th

Shipped!! (Adelaide) Edit: Hmmmm, it's in Sydney. Get it on a damn plane, I'll pay for the flight myself if necessary (economy).

It should be here tomorrow if TNT get it right...

I week without an iPad has been pretty hard, but.....

Got my shipping notice at 2pm today (my order was submitted around 11am on 8/3).

I'm supposed to be out and about tomorrow so I rang TNT to see if they could hold it at the depot for collection and they told me that they are not allowed to interfere with delivery in anyway due to their contract with Apple which stipulates that they must first attempt delivery - they cannot hold them or redeliver to a different address until they have first attempted delivery and left a card :mad:

Suffice to say I have now cancelled all my appointments and will be staying home tomorrow - cannot bear the thought of my new iPad bouncing around a TNT truck or depot all weekend so bugger it.

Very impressed that it looks like its going to arrive spot on release day.
