No matter if Apple puts a $799 or a $849 price tag on their new iPhone 7, it will sell like hot cakes.... reason?

That shiny Apple logo on the back

Apple still has millions of fanboys/girls who wave with their creditcard/cash every new release, no matter what! (and Apple, ofcourse, is fully aware of this)

The topic of price is the only interesting aspect of the new iPhone launch. The phone itself is just so stale.
I mean absolutely no offense when I ask this, but, doesn't it get the least bit depressing when your entire existence in a forum is negative? I get that you find the competition has run away from the iPhone, that Apple's day of innovation and leading the pack are buried in the past. But to say the same thing post after post after post, in thread after thread after thread has got to at some point become redundant and tiring. No?

You honestly think Apple cares what its competitors are selling their prices at? Because that has changed the Mac lineup pricing, right? People are going to buy Apple because they are invested in the ecosystem.

The Note 7 is $879, even Samsung keeps their prices much higher than other Android makers. $799 for a 128GB iPhone 7 is $50 more than a 64GB 6s. New phone, double the storage, $50 increase. I don't think that is unreasonable.

Where are you getting your "399" Prices? HTC one is $519-$689, LG V10 is $694, Moto Z Droid is $624, Droid Turbo 2 is $528. You're $299-399 price is non-existent. Samsung's start at $679 and go all the way up to $879 with the Note 7.

The Note 7 is $850, except for AT&T, and is 64GB and with the Samsung promotion it comes with a 256GB microSD. How much is the iPhone 6s Plus 64GB? $850. Raising the price of the next iPhone would not be the best idea. The pricing structure I see here puts the phone at/near the same price for the iPad Pros, come on now.

I feel like people are not fully reading the thread and getting what I am saying at. The increase will include a 64GB increase in storage, just as it is with the iPad Pro lineup.

iPhone 7:
$649 - 32GB
$799 - 128GB
$949 - 256GB
iPhone 7+:
$749 - 32GB
$899 - 128GB
$1049 - 256GB

Again, base storage will increase from 16GB to 32GB at no additional price increase.

sounds solid!

Price will stay the same. They aren't going to risk sales by upping it right now.

Highly doubt we we will see a price cut. Margins already took a hit with the SE, just don't see them doing it at this time. Maybe if they would have stuck to 16gb as the base but not with raising the entry to 32gb and with them probably taking a increase in cost on tie their new lightning ear pods or including an adapter. Of course that is all speculation.

You guys remember years back where they were selling the base 16GB model for $599 and carriers and some other resellers where charging $649.
And then Apple raised it to $649 too or something similar. That was 5+ years ago if I remember correct.

Be reasonable they have to pay for all of the R&D that they did to remove the audio jack.

The 64gb SE replaced the 32gb 5s at the same price point.

And the SE had vastly better internals, two generations better in many components, including the most important one, the CPU. And yet was cheaper.

I am predicting that the price of the next iPhone will actually increase by $50. We will get 32 gb base storage and maybe wireless earbuds to make this extra expenditure appear worthwhile.

No way.
Sales are decreasing, jack up the price and then definitely many will think hard to upgrade.
I know I wouldn't update. I'd hold off another year with my iPhone 6 if the price goes up.

Prices change. Sometimes they go down. I guess folks don't think this is going to be the year. But if I'm right that Android prices are going to come down a lot, then iPhone is going to be out there hanging out with just the Samsung Galaxy and Note. I can't see any Androids being released at over $499 in 2017 with the exception of Samsung.

So this is my guess of pricing after the iPhone 7 launch.

Prices this Fall will be:
SE: $399 (as it is priced now)
6S: $499 (+$100 for plus ) (+50 to go to 64gb, maybe plus starts at 64gb)
7: $599 (+$100 for plus which comes with dual camera) (+100 gets you 128gb storage in both sizes)

iPhone 6 gets discontinued. This helps Apple down the road with phasing out support for the A8 processor.

Samsung Note 7 is $850 usd, do you really think Apple will price the iPhone 7+ for $700? Good laugh tho.

Well do you think Apple will be happy with the sales volume of the Note 7 for 7 Plus? And do you think the Note 7 will still be selling at that price in six or nine months? I think the answer to both those is no.

But I guess if you view the Note 7 as the IPhone 7 Plus's only or main competitor then I guess it is what Apple will base their pricing on. The problem is that similar sized and very good Android phones are going for $399 now. And I expect the price for such phones in 2017 will be lower.

I think Apple have been hanging on to their current price structure for the last couple of years.

At some point they will need to take a hit on price to realign themselves with cheaper competition. The SE has gone some way to help in that regard.

Other manufacturers are catching up and are producing great phones for half the money that Apple and Samsung are charging. It may be a couple of years away but the days of the $700+ smartphones is coming to an end imo.

In reality, I expect cheaper Android flagship phones to compete against other more expensive Android smartphones (like the S7 and Note7) than the iPhone. The iPhone is still the only smartphone to run iOS, and this coupled with the stickiness of the Apple ecosystem makes it harder for users to switch.

Lowering the price of the iPhone may also damage Apple's brand name, and a company's branding is something that is near impossible to regain once lost.

My advice to Apple would be to simply wait out the competition and let them implode on their own. Their razor thin margins means these companies likely won't have much left over at the end of the day to invest in improving their products. Meanwhile, Apple has the resources to continue improving their ecosystem in ways that go beyond just boosting specs and / or lowering price.

Focus on making great products, and customers will continue to flock to them even if you charge a (reasonable) premium for them.

I can get on board with price going down or staying the same, but I can't see it going up with what we are supposedly getting with the 7. If anything that was a missed opportunity with the current 6s series. They may give us something astounding this fall, but I doubt it.

A dual lens camera for the 7 Plus could be expensive. I also think the 7 camera will get a big upgrade as well. I think this year is the year of the camera! Maybe the force touch one button as well.

We won't have long to find out anyway, Apple will probably be sending out the invites to their event any day now.
