I just checked Best Buy and the stock models with the Touch Bar (13" and 15") are available for pre-order with deliver on 11/16, this Wednesday via one day shipping.

I placed my order for stock 15".

Looked like only Space Gray, but that was the color I wanted anyway.

If it comes through I'll cancel my Apple order that is not due until just before Christmas.

Anyone else using this?

(This didn't work our for me on the Apple Watch Series 2 pre-order. Hoping this one will without delay)

Can't say I'm jumping on top of the new stuff yet. I'd love to hear what you think of the new touchbar.

I'm waiting and I'll buy through Apple. Something nice about the experience going in, in person.

If I ordered the 15", I would want the upgraded 460 graphics card. And I would consider the 512GB SSD (but USB-C really reduces the need).

I also considered buying one from bestbuy. But I found the new machine cannot use student discount so I gave up.

You can get student discount after you get the laptop, just bring it to the store and show them the edu discount and your student i.d and BB will price match you

Worked for me when I bought my rmbp back in 2013.

I bought one about an hour ago.. hoping this is true...but I wouldn't be surprised if it's wrong.
If your worried just don't open the laptop just in case you need to return but BB is understanding on edu pricing as long as theirs proof.

oh no I'm not worried about that, I'm more concerned that bestbuy won't come thru on the preorder....

It's pretty certain they will send them out next week. They don't play around, and especially with this stuff. I would imagine they are very careful about they big ticket Apple customers.

I suspect price match would work for the new macbook pro. I found new machine is not Price Match Guarantee.

You would think, but not true. The Apple Watch Series 2 recently they didn't ship for another 2-3 weeks past launch date for ALL BB customers that pre-ordered. They gave us a $50 gift certificate to make up for it, but I'd rather have my product at launch, thats just me.

I'm hopeful they will come through on this one though.

Didn't know that. Let's just hope then. May have to change my tune if they don't deliver

I would have ordered through Best Buy but since they only carry stock configurations I have to wait for Apple.

This is a store-by-store situation, they do not receive any kickback from Apple for price matching Apple EDU, most managers will do it, but that's no guarantee (worked there for 2 years).

I have a recently place standing order with apple for the the 15 inch spec (with corporate discount) I want not due in until December. But I went ahead and ordered one from Best Buy as well, in a different spec so I could try it out. I will likely return it. I blame Apple for this for choosing to fulfill customer orders rather than having a few 15 inch demos in their store for people who haven't ordered yet to try out before they buy.

I believe BB will make these orders on time as they state on their site, they don't play around with this stuff. So I should have it by Friday at the latest next week.

I hope you are right and we get them as stated.

On the contrary, I ordered online then called up customer service and they were able to price match.

Do you think its a typo that BB is saying the stock 15 inch comes with a Radeon Pro 455 (priced at $2399.99)? On Apple's site the same one with same price shows a 450. On Apple's site you have to go up to the next one priced at $2799 to get the Radeon 455.

Ohhhh, my bad. I thought some sort of discount I could cash in on lol

haha! I wish I could pass it around! The one I ordered from apple has the discount not the one from BB. Where I will likely return that one (and it only has the 256, not the 512 I ordered from apple) I just threw it on a card to see if I could get it here soon and try it out. I've been to multiple Apple stores and none of them have display models or know when they will because they are directing all orders towards the consumers. My opinion is that alienates those who don't like to order things like this without trying them first. Company is really pissing me off for the last 18 months, consistently

I completely, 100% agree. My thinking was I'll try out the non touch bar model and if I like it then I'll likely be pleased with the touch bar variant. Luckily, the display on the one I bought died on me! So no matter who bought that one, it would've been returned lol. But since you are going with the 15 inch model, there's no way for you to gauge your satisfaction with the general form factor given that Apple did not release any 15 inch model that you can purchase or even get your hands on to demo. They need to put the laptops on display. It's absolutely ridiculous. And on top of that, no reviews have even been published, likely due to Apple having not lifted the embargo yet. I would like to know how the touch bar version battery fares against the non touch bar one given the fact that the touch bar MacBooks have a more powerful processor and smaller battery. Man, the battery on that non touch bar was an absolute champ!

You called bestbuy and provided them with what proof to get the student discount? I want to call too.

I've pre-ordered 2 new items (series 2 Apple watch and Kindle Oasis) this year from Best Buy and both were delivered right on time. In both cases delivery would have taken a lot longer from Apple or Amazon. I just cancelled my order with Apple for the 15" stock MacBook Pro and pre-ordered it from Best Buy with a delivery date of Wed, Nov 16. I'm hoping for the best which in any case is likely to be better than my date from Apple (Nov 25 - Dec 2).
