The most wanted model here (Space Gray Sport) might very well sell out as they'll allocate only so many units for pre-ordering.

Maybe. But we aren't talking about the iPhone where Apple is facing just an impossible task because the demand at launch is 40 to 50 million units worldwide. Take the group of folks that I work with. Out of about ten of us, six have an iPhone 6 and three of them pre-ordered on launch day (some getting up to try to order or else just ordering when they got up normally in the morning). None have said they are definitely getting the watch and none would pre-order without trying them on.

I think Apple has had more time to build inventory. They are putting final final products in employees and customers hands on April 10. But then not shipping for another two weeks. So final final inventory is being collected right now and we are still over a month from shipment date. They couldn't do that for the iPhone 6.

So strange that Apple is taking pre-orders ahead of displaying the watch in person. So many people are going to pre-order that night or first thing in the morning, and then go to the store the next day to discover that they really want a different model.

This is going to be a logistical nightmare for Apple. Though I suppose the volume won't be anything like as high as iPhone launches. So at least we can be pretty sure the Apple servers won't buckle under the load at midnight.

I doubt it'll be that dramatic.

People might decide they want a different band, but I doubt hundreds of thousands will want different watch.

So, the smart thing will be to just wait for the preorder to arrive and swap the band out for one you want.

If preorders for this are anything like preorders for other devices, nobody wants to lose their shipping time over a band. They'll just wait.

9PM on the 9th in Hawaii. :D:D

I'm gonna get more sleep than ANY of you. That is of course if it opens at the normal time.

I'm usually on the East Coast but I'll be in NorCal on the 10th. Hello, midnight order!

That 3am action gets old. LOL.

I think the pre-orders will go smoothly and that nothing will sell out. But that Edition will NOT be available for pre-order. The number of pre-orders for this watch is going to less than 10% of the iPhone 6 launch. In fact it might be just 1% of the iPhone 6 launch. But that is okay. Folks need to see the watch in person.

I think that the Edition will be available for pre-order pickup in store. I don't think they'll ship them in the beginning.

Orders will not be nearly as crazed as any iPhone but production (I believe) will not be crazed by Apple either.

Apple watch preorders going live?

Jsut the same as the iphone 6/6+ i would assume preorders for the apple watch will begin 12am pacific time, hopefully this is true.

Still not sure what I'm going to do. First inclination was to get up at 3AM and pre-order the 38mm for delivery to my house. But then I've about changed my mind and get an appt. and go to my local store and do an in-store pre-order because I am not 100% sure whether I want a 38 or 42mm. I really would like to look at them. I assume if I do that I would pick it up in the store on the 24th. I have no problem doing that. Anyone else going back and forth as to what you're going to do?

Preorder both. Go to an Apple Store and try them on and decide which one fits you most. Cancel preorder of the one you don't want. Win. :D

That is exactly what I plan on doing. I'm shocked there is 2 weeks between preorders and it hitting the shelves.

I'm hoping that the Stainless Steel :apple: Watch doesn't sell out fast here in the UK, i want to try one on before buying but i can't go to the Apple store until the 25th of April (day after release) so i'm hoping they have the combination i want (SS with bright blue leather loop and 2 sport bands, white and black) in stock.

Pre-orders on 4/10. What time?

I'm already thinking ahead. What time do you think pre-orders will begin? Mid- night , Cupertino time?

If it was me, 11:59 so people going to the stores to try on have first shot.

Regardless, as soon as I can get an appointment on the 10th, I want to get the earliest just in case store orders take precedence.
