Preparations for White iPhone 4 Launch Continue

On the off chance that my local :apple: store might give me a heads up about the stock availability of this I rang them and the girl I spoke to said in no uncertain terms that the white iPhone will not be released this week lol.

I said I had heard information to the contrary. She politely asked where I had heard this and I said various websites. She then asked 'such as', I then said Macrumors. She lol'd and then said that it is known for its lies (her words lol).

I then asked her if she had the internet available to her right now - she said yes - I asked her to go on macrumors, she saw the top story and then said 'oh'...

She said keep checking the :apple: website in that case lol :rolleyes:

I think if they were to stick with the iPhone 4 style (glass front and back), it would be very simple to create colored glass panels and offer them as a $50 upgrade or something. I'd be all in for that.
 
Good for those who waited that long ... but really, do people still care? I know a couple of people that were waiting for quite some time because the wanted one, but they all have the black one by now. All we need now is the 'brown' one - I heard that color was a big success for other companies.

My wife still wants the white iPhone 4.

We paint our teams carbon composite bike frames white, and they look big and puffy and smooth like marshmallows, but the production models are natural composite (mostly black) under clearcoat, and look almost skinny by comparison.

Exactly the same reason why fat ladies wear black to hide the fact that they are fat.

Having owned a white PSP in the past, I chose it over black because it hides dust and scratches better. But the iPhone looks classier in black and less 'toy like'.

Apple geniuses know absolutely nothing about product releases bud.

Maybe they really are waiting until September to release the next iPhone. This release is filling the gap, so the delay isn't as noticeable.
 
Is everyone ready to start clamoring for more colors yet?

If you use a case like the otterbox, the color makes no difference anyway. But the cases come in colors.

Apparently up to FIRST weekend of September is considered summer by some. That's nowhere close to 75%. Might want to take some math classes.

I dont see the yellowing happening with this. i have the white iPad and no discoloration there. The reason i think so is because the white is not exposed like on the other products (White MacBook) its behind glass so thats not going to be an issue for the phone. The White iMacs have no discoloration at all (unless you smoke around it) so im happy and cant wait for my white iPhone 4!!!

Would be fun - reintroducing the 'color choice and wait' problem back from the colored iMac days:

Shipment time
black: 1-2 days
white: 3-4 days
red: 1-2 weeks
blue 1-2 weeks
brown: 5-6 weeks

But seriously: I would like to see some color choices (I don't dress up my beautiful iPhone in any bumpers or cases - so some color choice would be nice - I would like a dark blue one)
 
Apple needs to address this color fragmentation issue.

Yawn. As a consumer in the market for a new phone, I'm looking for a little more than a new color on an increasingly dated phone.

I'm thinking a "mood phone" that changes color would be nice. Or a tie-dye pattern. But seriously I think a few more colors would be nice too.

Fail! Summer starts September 23. There are 30 days in September. To be exact, 76.666667 of September is summer.
 
So in addition to the whole massive hassle of trying to get a white paint that works at all, they've had to sacrifice the really elegant, hidden proximity sensors and cut a hole in the front too?

kinda wonder why they bothered with this whole white thing... :p
 
You know, with the iPhone 5 announcement being pushed to late September (with release probably in October), the iPhone 4 still has 5-6 months left. That is still a lot of time for a phone life.

Saying "it is dumb to get a iPhone 4 at this point in time" is relatively similar to telling people hold off from buying a new iPhone around Christmas season (5-6 months from the next iPhone coming in Summer - during normal update interval).

The paint was never really the issue except as it pertained to the prox sensor fail. The reflectivity of the white was the problem (more? less? don't know for sure). The stories about light bleed where misinterpreted or outright false leads. Ditto problems with application of the paint.
 
Would anyone like it if they made the iPhone in more colors and released a new one every two months or so?
