Preparing For Shipment status at Apple

Delivers Oct 14 via Standard Shipping
Ordered around 11 pm eastern time 10/7.
I don't care if it doesn't come on the 14th but it'd be nice to play with it over the weekend.

Mine has been "prepared for shipment and stored at warehouse awaiting preorder shipment date." since Friday. Ordered Friday around 2:24 am central time via att.com.

Didn't know how to start a new thread about this but my iPhone has shipped however I did not receive an Apple shipping confirmation email yet. Last year when I ordered the iPhone 4 someone in the MacRumors forum showed everyone how to find their shipment. Apple usually ships via FedEx or UPS so in order to find your iPhone 4S shipment all you have to know if your phone number and zip code. Here's what you do:
1. Go to FedEx or UPS.com
2. Find where it says track by reference.
3. Type in the required information, primarily your phone number associated with your order.
4. You should see your shipment as long as your order status says "Preparing for Shipment (Mine says this via Apple.com bc that is where I ordered my iPhone 4S)"

I went to FedEx.com first and then to UPS.com, click on tracking and then to the left you should see track by reference.
I'm confused, what did you type as a reference? Also, Fedex wouldn't let me choose a ship date past today...?
I didn't change anything on the default ship date and I typed in my billing phone number as the reference!

For the reference I typed my cell phone number that I put with my order information. Try using it with the 1 i.e., 1 (xxx) xxx-xxxx and without the 1 i.e. (xxx) xxx-xxxx.

Not at all, lionqueen - mine still says processing too. Hopefully it'll change today since today's my birthday. C'mon Apple, do me a solid!

I think it's odd that I pre-ordered at 3:44am (when pre-orders finally came online) yet there are a ton of people whose orders have already shipped before mine! Are they not processing in sequence, sorted by time of order?

So is this saying you can sign for your phone in advance and they will leave it at your house? I would LOVE that as I am freaking out about it arriving while i'm at work and not being able to get to the UPS warehouse before they close on Friday. I'd hate to wait until Monday with having the whole weekend off
