Phones in the U.S. get shipped. They only dispatch them in the UK.

AT&T just sent me an email thanking me for choosing AT&T. In the past when I have received these types of emails, the phone ships out very soon. I'm assuming this likely means an AT&T SIM card has been installed and/or linked to a device with my account info.

Happy times!

EDIT::::: I ordered through the Apple Store App at 3:10am EDT on 9/12 with delivery slated for 9/25.

Me too, got a strange email from AT&T with information about my plan subject but no real content, just a list of links to see my bills, plans, etc. The strange thing is the email looked like it has been triggered by some sort of update.

Just a heads up though...AT&T is apparently giving everyone on Family Share plans with UDP, unlimited calling. So that could possibly be triggering the email as well. Who knows...

Random question, but what type of package did your phones come in last year? T-Mobile sent my phones in a plastic shipping bag (via UPS) and the iPhone boxes were in terrible shape. I was upset because two of them were gifts.

Mine says preparing for dispatch, I'm from the UK and ordered on Saturday at around 8:04am (confirmation email says 8:04).

I preordered from Apple. I guess something about the order triggered the automated emails. I got two at the same time, and I'm guessing it's because I upgraded two of my lines.

I am in California and my order is Preparing to Ship with an October delivery date, so it's not just the UK and I don't know that it means much at this point anyway.

Did you order through the Apple website, or a carrier website? The language changing to "Preparing for shipment" is only relevant on the Apple website. The carriers all have different language and update at different times.

I actually ordered two 6s+ on AT&T and received this email this morning. Our rollover plan has not gone to unlimited, as some people have had happen, that thought possibly might be causing the email. I am not holding my breath, I am just glad I was able to order my subsidized phones as our premier account never let us preorder/purchase Iphones as my husband works for a competitor.

My 6+ order moved to Preparing for Shipment Monday or Tuesday of the delivery week during last year's preorder.

When I preordered from Verizon.com last year, I got an email the next day saying that my order shipped! But it stayed in same location for about 5 days until Thursday night when it moved from NJ to Memphis via air. I wouldn't be surprised if there is some movement this weekend. Who knows though.
