How did you figure out that your first laptop had a Bluetooth problem? Maybe I should test mine?

-JT

Pretty simple. I tried to pair my AirPods to my laptop and no matter what, the Airpods were not connecting with the MBP. They connected flawlessly to my Windows 10 PC and my iPhone X, hence ruling out an issues with the Airpods itself.

In addition, I tried to reset the Bluetooth chip using Shift+Option and clicking on the Bluetooth icon in the menu bar --> debug and the Airpods still wouldn't connect.
[doublepost=1533999042][/doublepost]On a positive note, my 2nd MBP has shipped.

It is taking a slightly different route this time around compared to my 1st MBP:
PVG > NRT > ANC > SDF (all one flight, UPS 109!)

My 1st MBP took a more direct route (it skipped NRT):
PVG > ANC > SDF (again all one flight, UPS 81).

Just interesting to note these slight differences.

Update:

Picked up my MBP a little while ago. Still at work. The 1st thing I am going to try when I get home is test the Bluetooth as that was the culprit last time and the reason I had to return the week old MBP.

Got around to playing around with my 2nd MBP. I am happy to report that the Bluetooth issue with the prior MBP isn't present with this MBP and also none of the other issues that others have mentioned in this forum: crackling speaker sounds, LCD bleeding, etc also are not present. In other words, I didn't get a lemon.

In addition, it looks like this machine came with the performance patch already installed as when I went into the Mac App Store to check for updates, the patch wasn't there.

All in all, so far so good.

Beauty!

Please update us on the keyboard behavior, and if you get those random crash and the sound issues!

Waiting for mine, how long did it take from "shipping" to get to you? also what were the dates given by apple to receive it, and when you actually received it?

  • How long did it take from shipping to delivery? 3 days (I opted for express shipping by paying the extra $8 because this was my 2nd MBP that was replacing a faulty MBP prior.)
Here is the tracking from shipped to delivery:

At the "Order in Progress" stage, Apple estimated Aug 13-15. I received it on Aug 13.

My wife's 13" MBP was sent "expedited" and Apple sent it via FedEx. It cleared customs in Shanghai and shipped the same day and then took a nonstop flight from PVG to their hub at MEM. It was delivered the very next day.

My 15" MBP was sent "expedited" and Apple sent it via UPS. Not sure why. It has been sitting in Shanghai for 15hrs trying to clear customs, and will likely take at least 3 days total to get to the USA, maybe 4 days to get delivered.

From what I can tell based on the two shipment experiences so far, FedEx is at least a day faster at clearing customs and shipping to the US.

FedEx has a nonstop flight from PVG to MEM 6 days a week. UPS has no such non-stop flight to their hub at SDF (Louisville), and instead, routes things through ANC, NRT, or both, even for "Express" packages.

Perhaps UPS gave Apple a better price, so Apple is now shipping their "expedited" computers with UPS, but, based on these two experiences, I would say that FedEx is the superior Expedited shipping company.

For others of you who chose Expedited shipping, what company did Apple use? What model was your MBP? Perhaps they send UPS from one manufacturing plant, and FedEx from another. Or perhaps they send 13" models with FedEx and 15" with UPS.

Would be interesting to hear other buyers' experiences.

Shipped last night via UPS 2-3 day. Scheduled delivery on Monday which is in the middle of the estimate.

Boo UPS which will never delivery early... Would really like it before the weekend.

Mine is saying "Friday August 24 - On time and On Schedule" yet it has been sitting in Shanghai for the last 25hrs, and it is still sitting there as of 9:00am EDT on 8/23/18. I don't see how they're going to get it to me tomorrow, but, hey, UPS says it's "on time", so hopefully they're correct.

Could be sitting in customs.. UPS changed my date to pending when it entered, and will presumably go back to Monday when it clears. Assuming it is in the states geographically since it left China at 7pm on the 23rd and entered customs at 5 am on the same date!

Where is yours headed? Mine is coming to Chicago.

Going to KC.

The time stamps from UPS are bizarre. I also have events that appear to be out of chronological order and I do not see any takeoffs/landings yet at all. Can't see any progress. Just an "export scan" at 2:42pm China Standard Time on 8/23/18, which would be 1:42am Central Daylight Time.

Did just get an email from UPS My Choice confirming tomorrow as the delivery day. I have no idea where the package is as of now. Don't see any way that they could possibly get it to me tomorrow if it is still in Shanghai, as the UPS time stamps seem to indicate. Who knows. I guess it will get here when it gets here.

Would say that the FedEx tracking was MUCH easier to follow, and at least a day faster at getting through customs. Not sure why Apple seems to have shifted their "expedited" shipping to UPS from FedEx, but IMO, FedEx is superior to UPS.

Update: as of 9:01pm China Standard Time I got a "Departure Scan", and the status now reads "Departed Shanghai". Probably on UPS Flight 81 from PVG to ANC (Flight 5X 81) that continues to SDF.

So you're saying there's a chance! ha.

Monday evening, one week and one day after order and UPS has delivered it. Wish Apple had put it on Saturday delivery, but at least it is here now. Transferring files from old hard drive via USB 3... 4 hours or so predicted.

No idea why a usb3.1 HDD enclosure with a SSD in it is giving me 35mb/s transfer but very frustrating!

Placed an order less than 12 hours ago for a custom config 2018 MBP and somehow it shipped already!

2.6 i7
32 GB RAM
1 TB SSD
English/Arabic keyboard

How is this config common for them to ship it this fast? The initial estimate was 20 Sept

Anyways, the delivery estimate is now 6 Sept by both Apple and UPS. Can’t wait for it.

Something I noticed though, they did not add it to the My Support profile yet. They used to add products the moments they shipped.

I think this was a configuration they had on-hand in the Apple store as well. You may have just lucked out and wanted one of the non-standard configs that sells enough they keep it on hand.

Ordered a MBP-13” last Tuesday 28/8. Shipped on Friday 31/8, but I’m still stuck on “Shipping information received, Eindhoven”.

Seem like a long wait to anyone else? How long can I expect to be stuck in customs? I’m in the EU obviously
